S6 Drops Wi-Fi Connection After Nougat Update

Problem: I have a galaxy s6 and just undated the operating system to the latest Nougat update. I keep having an issue with the phone dropping the wifi signal.  It wasn’t doing this prior to the update. How can I diagnose the wifi on the phone?  Is there a way to check if the wifi on the phone is the issue?

Solution: Does this issue happen only when your phone is connected on a particular Wi-Fi network o does it happen on all Wi-Fi networks? If the problem only occurs on one network then troubleshooting must also be done on the router.

What you will want to do first in this case is to forget the Wi-Fi connection from your phone then restart both the phone and the router. Once both devices are ready you should try connecting to the network again. Does the issue still occur? If it does then try connecting your phone to a different Wi-Fi network. If the problem does not occur then you should check your router settings as this might be where the problem is.

In case the problem occurs even if the phone is connected to a different Wi-Fi network then you should proceed with the following steps listed below.

  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S6 Can’t Use Mobile Data

Problem: I bought an unlocked verizon galaxy s6 for gsm to work on cricket wireless network. I can not use mobile data with phone. I can make and receive calls, and I i can use wifi for the Internet.

Solution: Assuming that you already have an active mobile data subscription from your carrier the possible reason why you are not able to use your mobile data is because the APN setting of the phone is still set for the Verizon network and not for Cricket Wireless. You need to change the APN settings of your phone to what your carrier is using to allow mobile data usage.

To access the APN settings of your phone:

  • Tap on Settings > Mobile networks
  • Tap on Access Point Names
  • Tap on ADD in the top right
  • Add the correct APN settings
  • Save the APN settings
  • Tap on the radio button beside the new APN to activate it.
  • Restart your phone.

Cricket Wireless APN settings

  • Name: Internet
  • APN: ndo
  • MMSC:
  • MMS Proxy:
  • Multimedia Message Port: 80
  • MCC: 310
  • MNC: 150
  • APN type: default,mms,fota,hipri,supl
  • APN protocol: IPv4
  • APN roaming protocol: IPv4
  • Turn APN on/off: ON

S6 Mobile Data Keeps Switching from 2G To 3G

Problem: My mobile data keep switching from 3g to 2g then 3g then 2g. i can’t get a stable network connection. Always happening every time i want to use.

Solution: Sometimes this issue can be caused by poor reception in your area. To check if this is the case try going to a different location then check if the same issue occurs. You can also try checking another phone on the same network if its signal also fluctuates.

In case the problem is not network related then what you should do is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. This will allow you to check if the problem is caused by a software glitch. After the reset try to check if the issue still occurs.

If the problem persists then this might already be a hardware related issue in which case you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Does Not Connect To Wi-Fi

Problem: Hi my mobile phone does not connect with my Wi-Fi at all I tried everything but nothing helps it’s light blue samsung galaxy s6.

Solution: Listed below are the troubleshooting steps that you need to perform for this particular problem. After performing each step check if the issue still occurs. If it does then proceed to the next step.

  • Forget the Wi-Fi network from your phone then restart both your phone and the router. When both devices have started connect to your Wi-Fi network again. Make sure that the network is working by checking if other devices can connect and go online to it.
  • Try checking if the issue occurs in Safe Mode. In case the problem does not occur in this mode then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Try wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
  • Try connecting your phone to a different Wi-Fi network.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then this might already be a hardware related issue. I recommend that you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked if this is the case.

S6 Check Connection Error

Problem: I keep getting a problem with a check connection error that’s got a little cloud next to it.  The error probably pops up 20 times a day and it doesn’t matter where I am and whether or not I am on wifi or not.  I have a hard time with most wifi networks and I didn’t have this issue until the last big update.  I factory reset my phone thinking that would fix it, nope no change. A lot of the time I will have full bars and 4g and I still have the error pop up.

Solution: When you performed a factory reset did the error message pop up even with no apps installed in your phone yet? If you haven’t tried checking this then you should backup your phone data then wipe the cache partition of the phone then do a factory reset again. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone yet. You should try checking first if the problem still occurs. If it does then this problem could be caused by the update. You need to check if another update has been released for your phone which might have the fix needed for this particular issue.

S6 Can’t See Wi-Fi Network

Problem: We have two galaxy s6 phones and one S5. Neither of the s6 can see my brother’s at&t wifi network. The s5, along with multiple other phones, tablets, etc. See it and connect without any problems. This also seems to be the only wifi these s6 gave trouble with. They See Other WiFi networks in The area, but not the strongest signal. Thanks for all help.

Solution: You should first check the router setting and make sure that the SSID is not set to hidden. If it’s hidden and the phone has not connected to it previously then you will have to manually connect to the network by typing the SSID and the password.

In case the network is not hidden then try restarting the phone and the router. Once both devices have started try searching for the network again using the phone.
