S5 Use A Compatible Charger Error
Problem: i just got my device about 5 months ago and up until about 2 months ago it charged perfectly fine. since then when i plug my phone in using the original charger it pops up a message saying “use an original samsung compatible charger, and battery” it never charges while the phone is turned on it only shows that message and refuses to charge. i’ve tried turning it off and putting it on charge but after about 15 seconds it vibrates and shows a warning sign inside the battery icon and refuses to charge. after i try over and over adjusting the power cable and taking the battery out etc. itll charge, but only up to about 60% then vibrates and does it over again. i’ve tried the hard reset ive tried the soft reset, ive tried other chargers, it never works. it still takes me a good 8 tries to get it to actually charge and stay charging. and even then the battery once it gets to 100% only lasts about 3 hours, even when not in use.
Solution: You will usually get this error message if you are using a third party charger, or if there is a connection problem between the charger and the phone. Sometimes a faulty battery can also cause this problem. Since you have already performed some of the recommended troubleshooting steps that needs to be done in this particular issue we will skip those and proceed to the other steps that you haven’t done yet.
- Clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris stuck in this port as this might be causing the problem.
- Try using a different charging cord.
- Try using a different battery.
If the above steps fail to fix the problem then I suggest that you bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
S5 Is Overheating Not Charging
Problem: Hi, if you are reading this. thank you. and I badly need help (DESPERATELY). I live in the Philippines, and here is my problem with my samsung galaxy S5. I put my samsung galaxy s5 in my bag and drove around 25 minutes and when I arrived my phone says its overheated and its closing apps to cool down itself since i have only 7% charge that time. when I got back home I charge it but it is not charging, it displays a battery empty sign with temperature sign rising. I don’t know what to do. I badly need my phone back to its normal use. please reply asap. thank you
Solution: What you need to do first in this particular issue is to cool down your phone. Remove the battery from the device and if you also have a microSD card inserted remove this as well. Set aside your phone for at least 30 minutes. This should be enough time to cool down the phone. Once the time limit has been met press and hold the power button for at least a minute. This discharges the phone circuit and clears out its RAM. Reinsert just the battery then try charging your phone. If the same issue occurs proceed with cleaning the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris stuck in the port. Charge the phone using a different charging cord and wall charger.
If you are still experiencing the same problem then try replacing the battery with a new one.
Should the above steps fail then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
S5 Won’t Charge At All
Problem: Galaxy S5 won’t charge at all Hi, my S5 is not charging at all. I read the response you wrote in the answer for the question “Galaxy S5 won’t charge at all”. I removed the battery for at least 2 hours and it didn’t work. I tried 4 charging cables. After the soft reset when I hold the power button for one minute, it started charging for 15 seconds and then, it stopped. Yesterday, I plugged my phone in my car and I had a pop-up “power sharing” saying I need to download this app. I did and then I uninstalled it. Since then, everything went wrong. What do you think I can do?
Solution: What you need to do first in this case is to make sure that the phone’s charging port is free of any dirt or debris. Clean this port using a can of compressed air. Next, eliminate the charger as a possible factor in causing this issue by using a different charging cord and wall charger when charging the phone. If the issue remains then you should try using a new battery in your phone. One last troubleshooting step you can do is a factory reset. This is done to check if a software glitch is causing the problem. Make sure to backup your phone data before you do a reset.
If the above steps fail to fix the problem then this might be caused by a defective charging port. I recommend that you bring your phone to a service center and have this checked.
S5 Stuck In Update Screen
Problem: I just got the Galaxy s5 and i let it update. for the past hour or so it has been stuck on a green screen while gears turning saying finishing boot. I am unsure if i should take out the battery because i do not want to accidentally corrupt any data.
Solution: If it’s already more than an hour that the phone is stuck in this screen then it’s best to remove the battery and microSD card ( if your phone has one installed). Once this is done press and hold the power button for at least a minute to discharge the phone circuit and clear out its RAM. Reinsert just the battery then turn on your phone.
If the problem persists then you will have to start your phone in recovery mode then do a factory reset. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.
S5 Use Original Charger To Charge Phone Faster Error
Problem: Use charger provided to charge phone faster is the message that comes on when I attempt to charge my Samsung S5 (SM-G900V). I am using the same charger that came with the phone. I even used a spare cord and plug adapter and still get the same message. I removed and replaced the battery to see if that would help and it did not. The phone will bounce from charging to not charging and beep when the message is displayed. The battery is presently charged at 68%. Any ideas?
Solution: In this particular case I would suggest that you start the troubleshooting by cleaning the charging port of your phone. Use a can of compressed air in cleaning the port making sure that any dirt or debris present is removed. Next, try using a different charging cord and wall charger when charging the phone. Should the issue persist try replacing the battery with a new one.
If the above steps fail to fix the problem then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
S5 Stuck In Samsung Logo After Installing Marshmallow
Problem: After installing OTA update from lollipop to marshmallow, I’m stuck at samsung logo. I’ve gone into recovery and tried wipe cache and failing that I tried a factory reset from recovery options to no avail. This device is not rooted, nor has any custom recovery installed (I’ve left it as stock to be able to get OTA updates). Are there any other options I can try while keeping its unmodified status? I have the SM-G900I model. Thanks
Solution: Do you have a microSD card installed? Try removing this then check if the issue still occurs. You should aso check if a weak battery is causing this problem by connecting your phone to its charger then restart your phone.
If the issue remains then you should consider flashing your phone with its updated firmware file. Instructions on how to do this can be found at several of the popular android forums online.
S5 Randomly Rebooting
Problem: i currently own a samsung S5. i started to have this problem recently. my phone would randomly start rebooting. I’ve tried everything on your website. clearing cache safe mode won’t help. when it shuts off it reboots 2-5 times before it says optimizing apps and taking me to the home screen. i also started noticing a outlined shape kind of like a ‘L’ tilted 90 degrees to the left. it doesn’t reboot when the device is moving. I’ve also did a factory rest on the device and have no apps. I’m operating on the newest software.
Solution: Does your phone have a microSD card installed? If it does then try removing it as this might be causing the problem. You should also check if the issue occurs when the phone is connected to its charger. If it doesn’t then you should try replacing the battery with a new one.
If the above steps fail to fix the problem and since you already performed a factory reset then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked as this might already be caused by a malfunctioning internal component.
S5 Not Charging
Problem: I plugged in my phone is is completely dead. Instead of getting the charging animation. I get a Lighting Bolt and Battery symbol. And it shuts down. Turns on with the symbol. and vibrates. and repeat. My phone is a Samsung Galaxy S5
Solution: Try cleaning the charging port of your phone first using a can of compressed air. Next, try using a different charging cord and wall charger when charging your phone. If this doesn’t work then try replacing the battery with a new one.
Should the above steps fail to fix the problem then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
S5 Stopped Charging
Problem: We have 2 Galaxy S5 phones, they both stopped charging at the same time, (update/virus?). We tried 6 different charging cords, cleaned all ports with ‘air in a can’, did a soft reset, and finally a factory reset. They will not charge and they will not transfer data to computer. One phone repeatedly begins to charge but fails then charges and fails, (without touching it). Also, the ‘lightning icon’ appears but there’s no movement as if it is charging. We assumed it was a connection problem but w/ 2 phones it’s just too coincidental. This occurred 1-8-2017.
Solution: This problem could either be caused by a malfunctioning charging port, bad battery or some internal component that is failing to work. Since this occurred on two devices at the same time then what probably happened is that when the both phones were being charged some electrical surge occurred which affected both devices. I recommend that you have this checked at a service center.
