Note 5 Screen Is Not Working
Problem: Screen isn’t working. I can see that the led and the finger pads and the buttons work, but the screen is full black. Happened randomly, no screen or water damage. Also took it to a lab, and they somehow managed to turn the screen on and update my android version, returned with a factory reset. Guys won’t tell me how they fixed it and it happened again. Screen is sometimes unresponsive at other times reboots by itself ( battery 100%) after freeze
Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to check if the problem is caused by a software glitch by performing the troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Start the phone in Safe Mode. When the phone operates in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. Check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
- Try wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. Check if the issue still occurs.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Do not install any apps after the reset. Try to check first if the issue still occurs.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then this is most likely caused by a hardware component that is failing to work properly. The best thing that you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
Note 5 Screen Only Responds To S Pen
Problem: I have a Samsung Galaxy NOTE 5 from AT&T which I no longer have service with, I then used it for a Net10 data plan, which I no longer use as well. Now, I’m having problems with the screen. It responds to my S Pen but not my finger. I’ve tried a few things to try and fix it, but nothing has done the trick. I went into safe mode and noticed if I press really hard with my finger it responds somewhat which leaves me hopeful it might be an easy fix. The S Pen still works fine while in Safe Mode. As far as finding which app might be causing this problem, how do I go about that? Also, if that isn’t the case, what other possible solutions are there? Thank you in advance!
Solution: Finding the particular app that is causing this problem is going to be a trial and error method. You uninstall one app then check if the issue still occurs. If it does then you uninstall another app. You repeat this process until you get to the point where the screen works after uninstalling an app. This app is what’s causing the problem.
Another way to deal with this issue is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. If after the reset the screen does not respond with a finger input then it’s very likely that the digitizer of the phone is damaged. The best way to proceed in this case is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
Note 5 Not Accepting MetroPCS SIM
Problem: I am trying to get my sim card from metro PCS added and the phone basically isn’t accepting it. I really can’t afford to switch to another provider, can’t there be something I can do to get this fixed?
Solution: What error message are you getting from the phone? By knowing the error message we can proceed with the troubleshooting. However, if this phone was previously on a different carrier then chances are it is locked to that carrier. You will need to have the phone unlocked so that it can be used on a different carrier.
Note 5 Not Charging Or Turning On
Problem: I have a Samsung note 5 and it won’t charge or turn on. I inserted a fully charged battery from a different but same phone and still wont turn on. From what i researched on the internet they say it’s possible it could be a software issue or hardware issue. Any test i could do to find out which one it could be. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Solution: If the phone does not turn on even if a working battery is inserted into the device then you won’t be able to do any software troubleshooting. The problem is most likely caused by a hardware component that is failing to work most likely the power IC. The best thing that you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
Note 5 Will Not Fast Charge
Problem: My note 5 android version 7.0 will not fast charge anymore. My wife has the same kind and since this last update both of them no longer fast charge. Not sure what the issue is. I could not find any device control settings to turn on and off fast charge either. Thanks
Solution: The fast charging feature of the phone works best if you use the Adaptive Fast Charging charger of Samsung. If you are using this charger and the phone still does not fast charge then proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris stuck in this port is removed. Check if the issue still occurs.
- Try using a different charging cord.
- Try using another charger with an output rating of at least 2.0A.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should have this checked at a service center.
Note 5 Not Detecting SIM Card
Problem: My Samsung note 5 does not detect sim card how may I fix it please?
Solution: You will need to verify if this SIM card is indeed working by inserting it in another phone. If the SIM works then try inserting it back to your phone. You should also try inserting another SIM in your phone. If the phone can’t detect this other SIM then this is most likely a hardware related problem already in which case you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
Note 5 Alarm Not Ringing On Time
Problem: Alarm doesn’t ring on time when phone is dark or inactive. For the first 2 years, I thought it was the app, but I have tried multiple alarm apps. Will work if I set developer option to keep screen on when plugged in, but that doesn’t help when it is not plugged into the charger. Have looked through your FAQs, but could not find a similar problem listed. I have reset the phone.
Solution: If you have already performed a factory reset and the issue still remains then try flashing your phone with the latest stock firmware. You can get this firmware from the Sammobile website which is also where you can get the instructions on how to flash your phone.
