Note 4 Freezes And Restarts After Software Update
Problem: After allowing the update to install, my Samsung Galaxy Note 4 began “freezing up” & randomly restarting itself. It is now very sluggish & is not working as it was before the update.
Solution: If your phone has a microSD card installed then try removing this first as this could be causing the problem. Otherwise, the issue is most likely caused by some form of old software data that has not been completely removed during the update. This old data often causes a conflict with the new software version resulting in issues such as this. What you need to do in this case then is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete immediately check If the problem still occurs. If it does then you should try to to flash your phone with its previous software version using Odin to check if the update is causing the problem. You can download the previous firmware file of your phone from the Sammobile website which should also have the instructions on how to flash your phone.
Note 4 Randomly Shuts Down And Restarts
Problem: My note 4 on vzw network has been randomly shutting down and restarting. It just started happening and I can’t stop it. It’s like bogging down and freezes and restarts. I hv restarted, pulled the battery. I am trying to avoid hard factory reset. Please help? Thank you!
Solution: If a factory reset is not an option for you then listed below are the troubleshooting steps that you need to perform.
- Start the phone in Safe Mode then check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
- Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
- If your phone has a microSD card installed then try removing it as this might be causing the problem.
- Check if the issue occurs when the phone is connected to its charger. If the issue does not occur then the problem could be caused by a faulty battery. Try replacing the battery with a new one.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should consider doing a factory reset. Just make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.
Note 4 Not Upgrading To Marshmallow
Problem: Phone wont upgrade to marshmellow no matter how many times they send the software to my phone. My device in encrypted and i even removed the encryption and tried.. no difference
Related Problem: I am currently using an unlocked at&t note 4 with a tmobile sim. It is currently running 5.1.1 how can I update it to 6.xx or should I? I just want my phone to run the best that it can
Solution: There are several conditions which your phone must meet in order for it to get the update namely
- The phone must not be rooted.
- The phone must not be running on a custom software.
- If you had the phone unlocked then it should be running on its original network.
You should try using Kies or Switch to update your phone. If your phone still fails to get the update then I suggest that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete manually check for the update again.
If the update still fails to install then you should consider manually flashing the device with its updated firmware file using Odin. You can download the firmware file of your phone from the Sammobile website which should also have the instructions on how to flash your phone.
Note 4 Freezes
Problem: My phone freezes when I use it even when i swipe left or right I have to take the battery out and put it back in then the battery has lost some power goes to 2% from 50% I try clearing cache and factory reset and took out sim and sd card but still does it warranty is void coz there a small chip in the screen so I can’t send it Back
Solution: Your phone seems to be suffering from two separate issues. Since you already performed the initial troubleshooting steps then I would recommend the following for this particular problem.
- For the battery drain issue you should try to use a new battery on your phone as this problem might be caused by a faulty battery.
- For the freezing problem this might already be caused by a damaged display assembly since you mentioned that there is a small chip on the screen. You will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
Note 4 Hands Free Always Activating After Flashing Phone
Problem: I had my phone flashed from sprint to t-mobile, now i have the hands free activation always trying to activate and it never does, how can i get rid of the hands free activation. I also lost the mobile hotspot and tethering, is there a way to get that back? I don’t never get a 4g signal, how can i get the 4g signal on my phone?
Solution: The first thing you should do in this particular case is to wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode then do a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.
If the issue persists then the firmware file you flashed might not be compatible with your particular phone model since Spring uses the CDMA standard while T-Mobile uses the GSM standard. I recommend you flash the T-Mobile version of the firmware file back to your phone to check if the software version is causing the problem.
Note 4 Fingerprint Sensor Not Working
Problem: The phone boots ok but there’s a lag that came every 10 sec And the fingerprint is not working it says An error has occurred with your fingerprint sensor,if this message appears repeatedly please restart your device. I restart my device .. still same problem i change my rom and tried flashing custom rom but still same problem no fingerprint…note the fingerprint is working great nothing happened just suddenly it did that when i was trying to root the phone. My phone is N910T
Solution: For this particular problem you will need to flash the phone with its updated stock firmware file. If the fingerprint sensor still does not work after this then the problem could already be hardware related. You will need to bring your phone to its service center and have it checked if this is the case.
Note 4 Freezes Randomly Shuts Off
Problem: Hello Team, I am inquiring about my galaxy note 4 . After I charged my phone with a different wire other than the original, it started to freeze up. Sometimes it would randomly shut off and other times it would bring up an android logo that says Downloading Target. I am not sure if it was bc of the software update I did 2 weeks ago or the new wire. please let me know your thoughts. Thanks so much
Solution: The best way to check if the problem is caused by the update is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. As soon as the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone yet. If the phone has a microSD card installed then remove it as well. Try to check if the problem still occurs. If it does then this might be a hardware related problem already possibly caused by the charging cord that you used. I recommend that you bring your phone to a service center then have it checked if this is the case.
