J5 Display Keeps Flickering

Problem: I buy a galaxy j5 on 8 nov last year it work properly but after 20 /25 days display started blinking or flickering so i visit samsung service center they kept my phone for 1 day then return than it work properly for a couple of month than it also started giving problem than i again visit service center they say nothing is wrong than i ignore it but before 20/25 days it blinking too much i am tired of this so plss suggest me something for repair of it otherwise give me new piece and take your old one Don’t excepted this from samsung.

Solution: The first thing that you need to do in this particular case is to check if an app you installed is causing the problem. To do this you need to start the phone in Safe Mode. In this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. If the screen does not flicker in this mode then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

In case the issue still occurs even in Safe Mode then I suggest that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. After the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone yet. Try checking first if the issue still occurs.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this could already be caused by a hardware component that is failing to work properly.

J5 Screen Has Black Green Blot

Problem: Hi there, today my phone seemingly out of nowhere began to have a large black-green blotch covering the right edge of my phone. It was slowly growing throughout the day. At around 12:00 p.m. I lightly dropped my phone on some grass and phone just stopped turning on. It would have the occasional flicker and green or blue light in the corner. I tried almost all the ways that it would say to fix the phone yet none of them worked. Though I suspect the L.E.D. is broken and I simply need a new phone I’m hoping there is at least some way to salvage my phone. P.S. My phone is about a year old.

Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to charge the phone for at least 20 minutes then start it in recovery mode. In this mode you will need to do a factory reset. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then it is very likely that the display of your phone is damaged. You need to have this checked at a service center.

J5 Not Getting Software Update

Problem: I have been unable to update my phone for months.  I keep getting a message that says ‘The operating system on your device has been modified in an unauthorized way.  Try downloading software updates using Samsung Kies on your PC or visit a customer service centre.’  I have tried samsung Kies but can’t connect, as it says to use ‘Smart Switch’ which I downloaded, but can’t figure it out either.  Any suggestions?

Solution: Smart Switch is currently the software that Samsung uses as a replacement to Kies. Once you connect your phone to a computer with Smart Switch running you will be prompted if a software update is available.

In your case an error message pops up stating that the operating system of the phone has been modified. This is usually the case if you have rooted the phone or have installed a custom software.

In case the phone is not rooted or running on a custom software then you should backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete try to check for the update again.

If no update is available then you should consider flashing your phone with its updated stock firmware file using Odin. You can get the firmware file of your phone from the Sammobile website which is also where you can get the instructions on how to flash your phone.

J5 Not Working After Getting Wet

Problem: Hi yesterday I my phone fell in the tub while i was showering and i got the phone out and blow dried it and it work the next morning but that night it wasn’t work. do you know why i can do to get it off the black screen now.

Solution: If your phone gets wet then the best thing to do is to get it dry quickly as water will damage the electronic components of the phone. Wipe the exterior of the phone with a cloth until it is dry. Place the phone in a bag of rice afterwards for at least 48 hours. The rice will absorb the moisture inside the phone. Once this is done try checking if the issue still occurs. If it does then the phone is most likely water damaged already in which case you will need to bring it to a service center and have it checked.

J5 Not Charging Properly

Problem: I have a Galaxy J5. The problem I’m having is that it is not charging properly — that is, when I plug it in, it will charge then stop repeatedly. Sometimes it will charge perfectly fine at some random point in the day, but when I go back to charge it again it will stop intermittently. The power sharing dialog box pops up every now and again for no reason, but it doesn’t happen every time I try to charge the phone. I don’t think the cable is the problem unless every cord in the world is somehow faulty. I read on the page that perhaps the port needs re-soldering but the dialog box has me thinking it might be a problem with the firmware. It’s a mess. Any help will be appreciated.

Solution: What you should do first in this case is to clean the charging port of the phone making sure that it is free of any dirt or debris. Use a can of compressed air to clean the port. Next, try charging the phone. If the issue still occurs then try using a different charging cord and wall charger. To eliminate the possibility that the problem is caused by a software glitch you should perform a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then this might be caused by a faulty charging port. I recommend that you have this checked at a service center if this is the case.

J5 Green Flickering Screen

Problem: Green flickering or black screen or combo, all through auto-brightness, or manual up to 1/3 brightness, or power button lock screen screen on and off. Started noticing it when I had a new game running all night on auto mode (for collectables) on low auto brightness setting so it didn’t wake me up. Phone was reasonably warm too, and remains quite warm since that initial time at left of battery and up a little.

Solution: The best way to troubleshoot this problem is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in the phone yet. Try checking first if the issue still occurs. If it does then this is already a hardware related problem possibly caused by a faulty display. You will need to have this checked at a service center.
