J3 Screen Went Black
Problem: screen was working fine all day i pressed power button to light up screen screen was fine literally two sec. later screen went black the screen lights up but that’s it it lights up with a black screen i tried holding power button and taking battery out i also tried holding volume up home button and power button none of this worked i even tried charging it still nothing i was wondering if u might have an idea of why it’s like this and if you have more advice on what to do to bring my screen back at least so i can back it up and get my pictures out of it i have a samsung galaxy j3 prime from metro pcs
Solution: Have you dropped your phone recently? If you have then this could be a factor that can cause the screen to go black. Water entering the phone can also damage the display causing this issue. To troubleshoot this particular problem you should follow the troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Remove the battery and microSD card ( if you have one installed) then press and hold the power button. This will discharge the phone circuit and clear out its RAM.
- Reinsert the battery then turn on the phone.
- If the screen is still black then try charging the phone for at least 20 minutes.
- Start the phone in recovery mode then do a factory reset. Take note that this will erase your phone data.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
J3 microSD Card Not Working
Problem: Hi, I have a Samsung Galaxy 3 J120A model. I have a 16GB micro SD card that is letting me mount and format but is not working. I’ve been trying to figure this out but have only been able to figure out that I need to reformat the SD card, but cant seem to figure out how to reformat it. There isn’t an option for reformatting my SD card. I know there is probably a very simple step that I am missing. Please help. Thank You.
Solution: To format the microSD card of your phone just follow the steps listed below.
- Go to Apps then Settings.
- Tap Search, and then search for and select Storage.
- Tap More Options.
- Tap Storage settings.
- Tap SD card.
- Tap Format
- Tap Format again
You can also format the microSD card using your computer. Remove the microSD card from your phone then let your computer read the card. You will need a card reader to do this. Right click on the microSD card from the file manger then choose format. Make sure to verify that the filesystem is FAT32.
J3 Calls Go Straight to Voicemail
Problem: My new Galaxy J3 goes straight to voicemail when calls come in. There is no ring. I have checked call barring, call blocking, call forwarding, etc. I have reset by removing the battery and following your suggestions with the volume, home and power buttons.
Solution: If you have already checked the call settings of your phone and it is already properly set then the next step is to check if the problem is caused by software glitch. To do this you will need to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete check if the issue still occurs. If it does then try inserting another SIM into your phone or insert your SIM in another phone. This way you can check if the SIM is causing the problem and if it is then you will have to contact your carrier regarding this issue.
In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then this might already be a hardware related problem in which case you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
J3 Unfortunately Themes Has Stopped Working
Problem: “unfortunately themes has stopped working” pops up anytime I try to install or apply new theme won’t even go back to default theme. Phone is extremely slow, lags, freezes and also overheats constantly.
Solution: Try looking for the themes app in the application manager then clear its cache and data. This will usually fix the problem. In case the issue persists then you will need to perform the additional troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Wipe the cache partition of the phone
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
J3 Wi-Fi Does Not Switch On
Problem: Just got a google lock removal on my J3 and now the phone won’t connect to wifi. The button refuses to switch to on. I’ve tried everything down to the factory reset and still no luck. Please help!
Solution: If you have already performed a factory reset and the Wi-Fi is still greyed out then it’s very likely that the Wi-Fi chip of the phone is faulty. You will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
J3 Unfortunately System UI Has Stopped Working
Problem: When I power on my phone it says “unfortunately system ui has stopped working.” I have cleared cache partition, and uninstalled updates from Google apps. Please help
Solution: What you will want to do first in this case is to look for the System Interface app in the application manager then clear its cache and data. If the issue still persists after this then proceed with the additional troubleshooting steps listed below.
- If you have a third party launcher installed then try uninstalling it.
- Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
J3 Will No Longer Charge
Problem: My galaxy j3 will no longer charge! I put it on charge one night and woke up to my bag leaning on it and it was making the charging connection noise continuously! Or it may have been the noise from where my bag was leaning on the screen!
Solution: What you should do first in this case is to clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris stuck in the port gets removed. Once this is done try using a different charging cord and wall charger to charge the phone.
In case the issue still persists then you need to have the charging port of the phone checked at a service center.
