J3 Authentication Problem When Adding iCloud Email
Problem: This problem lies with my wife’s phone she can receive emails from gmail to her j3 but when she tries to add iCloud account it always says authentication problem we have tried loads of time and even gone on manual setup and still get the same answer please help
Solution: The first thing that you need to do in this case is to check if you are able to access your icloud email from a browser. If not then either the email address or password is incorrect. If you are able to access your iCloud email from a browser then the next step is to make sure that the email app you are using has the correct iCloud account settings.
For the incoming server
- Server name: imap.mail.me.com
- SSL required: Yes
- Port: 993
- Username: The name portion of your iCloud email address. If it’s [email protected], just the “abc” part.
- Password: Your iCloud email address password.
For outgoing server
- Server name: smtp.mail.me.com
- SSL Required: Yes
- Port: 587
- SMTP Authentication Required: Yes
- Username: Your full iCloud email address, including the @icloud.com part
- Password: Use the password you used in the incoming mail server section
Take note that your account might also have a two factor authentication. This might appear in your iPhone or iPad when you add the email account on your Android phone. On the iPad just tap on the “trust this device” option.
J3 Cannot Type On Screen
Problem: Hi there! As of yesterday I can no longer type anything anywhere on my Samsung Galaxy J3 telephone. Not Facebook, Messenger, contacts, messages, etc., anywhere. I deleted a lot of apps (I only have 16 GB & there wasn’t much left, but I freed up a good amount. I did the soft reset you suggested-nothing. Please help! Thank you.
Solution: The first thing that you need to do in this case is to start the phone in Safe Mode then check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then the problem could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it. In case the issue still occurs in this mode then proceed with the steps listed below.
- Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode. Check if the issue still occurs.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
J3 Can’t Download Email Folder
Problem: I have a galaxy J3 and on my email I have folders. On my tablet and my computer I can get whatever is in the folders, but on my cell phone I can’t. It says it may not have been downloaded to the server yet. I know it probably has something to do with the settings, I just can’t figure it out where I would get what’s in my folders on my phone.
Solution: For this particular issue you should try connecting your phone to a different Wi-Fi network or use your mobile data connection. This way you can check if the problem is caused by the current Internet connection.
If the issue persists even when the phone is now connected to a different Wi-Fi network then I suggest that you clear the cache and data of the email app. Take note that you will need to setup your email account again on the phone once you perform this step.
J3 Not Turning On Not Charging
Problem: My daughter has a Samsung galaxy j3 (2017) which she put on charge as normal last night. This morning it is off, won’t turn on, and won’t charge. It’s like it is “dead”. I’ve looked at the troubleshooting pages, but they refer to the j3 with a removable battery, this one isn’t removable. Help please! She has only had it since August.
Solution: The first thing you need to do in this case is to simulate a battery pull which is done by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. Your phone should restart after this. In case it doesn’t then proceed with the steps listed below.
- Clean the charging port of the phone making sure that any dirt or debris present is removed. You can use a can of compressed air to clean this port.
- Charge the phone for at least 20 minutes using its wall charger.
- If the phone does not charge then try using a different charging cord and wall charger. You should also try charging the phone from a computer USB port.
- Turn on the phone.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then this might already be caused by a faulty hardware component. The best thing to do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
J3 Wi-Fi Keeps Disconnecting
Problem: I connect to my wifi, the phone connects and works for about 10 minutes. Then where the wifi symbol up in the top right of the phone is “an exclamation point” pops up. Over the wifi symbol. When that happens my wifi no longer works. Now when I reset the wifi it connects again. But I continuously have to reset the wifi. It’s an ongoing chain. And I don’t think the phone is supposed to do that. Please help me with this issue.
Solution: The first thing you need to do in this case is to forget the Wi-Fi network from the phone then connect to it again. If the issue still occurs then proceed with the steps listed below.
- Start the phone in Safe Mode then check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
- Check if the issue occurs when the phone connects to other Wi-Fi networks.
- Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
If the issue still occurs even after performing the steps listed above then you should have this checked at a service center.
J3 Charges Very Slow
Problem: Hi Android Guy, Have a J3 US Cellular 4G (no sim installed). Basicly new though not original packaging. Upon arrival battery was totally dead. After charging for about 20 minutes the battery charge display appeared. After 8 hours, 50%. When on will only charge a minute then stop until I unplug and plug it back in. When turned off charges slow, about 16 hours for full charge. After using for a week, now can only get it to about 70% charge. Battery drains as expected. Using 2.1 Amp (10w) charger (not Samsung). Opened, disconnected / reconnected power ribbons. No help. Did a restart (hold: power + volume). No help. Have not tried a full factory reset.Any thoughts? I work in IT and do modest android development. So technical jargon is no problem.
Solution: You should try cleaning the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air then charge it using a different charging cord and wall charger. If the issue persists then there’s a big possibility that the phone has a faulty battery. You should try having the battery replaced at a service center.
J3 Not Playing Video Files
Problem: Hello, i seem to be having two issues, first I have been taking a lot of videos in MMS mode on my J3 and after some time I started receiving an error message that says sorry this video cannot be played, I have deleted many of the videos and still get the message from videos starting about a quarter of the way through to the first video i recorded, they all worked a short while ago. Second issue is that I have been downloading videos to my computer via usb and have been getting video files that are anywhere from 7 GB to 10 GB most are around 9 GB and my video players will not play them. Most of my other videos are 400 MB to 2 GB at most and they play just fine. How can I fix them so they play? Thank you in advance
Solution: Videos that are 10 GB in size most likely have a file format that can’t be played on the phone due to hardware limitations.
As for the issue of the recorded videos on MMS mode that can’t be played you should try clearing the cache and data of the messaging app. Try switching the default storage location of these videos to the internal storage of the phone as well as the videos might become corrupted if stored in the microSD card.
