LG V20 Gets Hot When Charging Then Freezes

Problem: Hi, I have an LG V20 . It’s worked fine up until a few weeks ago. My phone has been getting very hot while charging, almost to the point where I can’t touch it. This doesn’t happen all the time but it’s happened once or twice. Just starting today my phone has been freezing up every few minutes and will stay frozen for a few seconds before going sort of back to normal. By sort of normal, I mean it’s slow. I’m getting very frustrated, can you please tell me what’s wrong with my phone and how to fix it?

Solution: It appears that the phone is affected by two separate issues. One is that the phone gets hot when charging and the second is that the phone freezes.

Let’s tackle the charging issue of the phone first by following the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris stuck in this port.
  • Charge the phone for at least 20 minutes using a different charging cord and wall charger.
  • If the phone still gets hot then try replacing the battery with a new one.

For the freezing issue of the phone follow the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Remove the microSD card of the phone if you have one installed. If this card has corrupt sectors then it could cause the phone to freeze.
  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. Does the problem occur in this mode? If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then you need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this could already be a hardware related issue.

LG V20 Letter K Gets Added In Group Text Messages

Problem: I have a LG V20 thru AT&T.  My wife has a G5.  For some reason when we are doing a group text, the letter K will be in the section where you write your text.  Delete the letter and next time you open group text, the letter K is back.  We can’t seem to get rid of it unless we delete the whole thread and start all over.  This happens in different group texts.  Anyone heard of this problem and what can I do to get rid of that letter in my text.

Solution: It looks like this issue is caused by some glitch in the messaging app. You should clear the cache and data of the messaging app from the application manager then check if the issue still occurs. If it does then perform the additional troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Check if the issue occurs in Safe Mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

LG V20 Charges Very Slowly

Problem: I was having the issue of a slow charge every day. There was debris in the charging port of the phone you might add that you should clean the port out with a thin sliver of metal to clean the port to make the charge secure.

Solution: What you will want to do first in this case is to make sure that the charging port of the phone is free from any dirt or debris by cleaning it with a can of compressed air. You should also carefully inspect the port for any signs of damage. Once this is done remove the battery of the phone then clean the gold contacts using a pencil eraser. When charging the phone you should try to use a different charging cord and wall charger.

In case the issue persists then you should consider doing a factory reset to check if the problem is caused by a software glitch. Just make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

One last troubleshooting step you should consider is to replace the battery with a new one.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

LG V20 Recovering Data When Touchscreen Does Not Work

Problem: Lg v20 is the phone. Screen protector has multiple cracks. When power on, screen flashes rapidly and has multiple stripes top to bottom. No use of touchscreen. Any way to transfer the data without touchscreen on phone? Hope you can help, gfs phone and she freaking out.

Solution: Unfortunately you will need to use the touchscreen of the phone in order to retrieve the data stored in it. You can try connecting the phone to a computer with the LG PC Suite installed and running then check if you can backup the phone data using the software. In case you can’t then you will need to have the display replaced first at a service center.

LG V20 Data Service Is Blocked

Problem: my phone keeps telling my data is blocked and i keep losing signal. i’ve only had it for a week now and i have took it back to the at&t store and had it replaced but yet still having the same problems. i like the phone and don’t want a different one. i didn’t have this problem with my v10. so help please

Solution: If you still have an active mobile data subscription and you are getting this error message then what you should do is to restart your phone. This will reset your phone connection to the network and refresh its software. This appears to be a network related problem which usually occurs when the tower that your phone is connected to is operating in maximum capacity.
