Welcome to another installment of our troubleshooting series where we aim to help our readers who own the #Samsung #Galaxy #S8 fix the issues that they are experiencing with their phone. Today we will tackle the Galaxy S8 screen only works after restarting phone issue and other related problems. One of our readers who owns this particular model has this problem with their phone which we will be taking a look at.
S8 Screen Only Works After Restarting Phone
Problem: Hi there, Cracked the screen on my S8 a while ago and the point where the screen cracked from appears to have damaged the screen underneath not just the glass, as there is a small blacked out patch. There are coloured lines that run up the length of the screen through the main crack but these do not affect general use. The main problem that has just started to occur is that the screen will not display anything when I unlock it. After the phone is restarted or powered up the screen works fine, but as soon as it is locked and then I attempt to unlock it nothing happens, so the only way to use the screen again is to restart the device.
Solution: You could try checking if the problem is caused by a software glitch by backing up your phone data then doing a factory reset. If the reset does not fix the problem then it’s very likely that this is already a hardware related problem most likely caused by a faulty display assembly. You will need to have this display assembly replaced at a service center to fix the problem.
S8 Screen Flickers After Drop
Problem: Hello, so I recently dropped my phone on the driveway. There is absolutely no crack on the screen, but when I turn it on the screen will flicker and change colors from the medium half down. It was in excellent condition. I do have a new cheap phone, but it does not compare. My question is: is it fixable? I have read that even if I switch the screen it will not resolve the issue since it might be something on the hardware system. I have tried the soft and hard reset.
Solution: It looks like the drop might have caused some damage to the display of the phone. You can further check if this is the case by doing a factory reset on the phone. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs. If it does then this is most likely caused by a damaged display. You will need to have this checked at a service center.
S8 Green Line On Screen
Problem: Hello, I have my Galaxy S8 for a year now and I really love its Super AMOLED screen. But this thing happened this morning, I was so tired that I almost forgot to put my phone on the shelf next to my bed and I just slept with it. This morning, I found a green line on the left side of the screen like a half centimeters from the left side of the screen. Is there any solution to fix this?? Thanks in Advance.
Solution: The first thing that you should do right now is to check if the problem is caused by an app you installed by starting the phone in Safe Mode. If the problem does not occur in this mode then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it. In case the problem still occurs in Safe Mode then I recommend that you do a factory reset to eliminate the possibility of this being caused by a software glitch. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.
If the problem still occurs after the reset then you might have slept over the phone causing the display to be damaged. If this is the case then the only way to get rid of this green line is to have the whole display assembly of the phone replaced at a service center.
S8 Screen Freezes When It Is Cold
Problem: Hi there, My screen has a tendency to freeze whenever there’s any sort of moisture near it or a slight bit of cold air surrounding it completely rendering the screen useless. The home button touch ID still works fine but the screen freezes. The only possible way of getting it to work again is to physically warm it up on a radiator or by my hands. There is a very small chip in the bottom right of the screen but that’s all I can think of what could be causing it. Any way of fixing this? Thanks.
Solution: Unfortunately this problem is already caused by a faulty hardware component. The best way to proceed in this case is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
