J3 Not Turning On After Getting Wet
Problem: Hi. I have a samsung J3 and i dropped it in water. Pulled it out, got the battery out and used a towel to get rid of most of the water. When it was still in water the screen was still on, then it showed the samsung shutting down animation and it shut off so i don’t think anything shorted then. After that, i put the battery back in and tried to power on which lead to the flash being on, the charging circle was really faint and red and i could hear weird noises from the speaker.I left it to dry on the radiator, took the battery out and unscrewed everything, wiping it inside although there wasn’t really any water. After that i put the battery back in, plugged the charger in and both the flash came on and the red circle but again, it was very faint. Is this an indication of the mode that phones enter when they get dropped in water ?
Solution: It looks like water might have entered the device and has damaged an internal component. What you should do right now is to remove the battery from the phone then place the phone in a bag of rice for at least 48 hours. The rice will absorb the moisture inside the phone. Once this is done insert the battery back to the phone then try turning it on. In case the same issue occurs then the device is most likely water damaged. You will need to bring the phone to a service center and have this repaired.
J3 No Command Error In Recovery Mode
Problem: My phone (samsung galaxy J3) ran out of battery before i fell asleep so i put it on charge and when i woke up it was still turned off and it had the 100% battery icon so i plugged it out and left it on the table beside me and went back to sleep. When i woke back up i tried to turn the phone on but it wouldn’t come on i tried every possible button combination but nothing worked. I left it charging and I eventually got it on in recovery mode and i had the android icon with the words “command not found” then the phone turned back off and i never got it back on. There is power going to the phone as the charger had a bit of heat at the port.
Solution: This error message will usually appear when a software update has been interrupted or Super Users access has been denied. To fix this you will have to access the recovery mode of the phone then from here do a factory reset. Take note that this reset will erase your phone data.
J3 Randomly Restarting
Problem: I have a Samsung Galaxy J3, and about every two minutes, it will shut itself off. it’s been going on for about a week, and I even took it to the store to see if they could fix it, but they couldn’t. I factory reset the phone twice now, and it went from refusing to turn on at all to running for maybe two minutes at a time and then just popping out. it’s really frustrating. Additionally, I can’t keep it on long enough to find the android version.
Solution: If performing a factory reset does not fix the problem then this is most likely caused by a hardware component that is failing to work properly most likely the battery or the power IC. If you have the model with the removable battery then try getting a new battery and check if this solves the problem otherwise you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it repaired.
J3 Constantly Reboots Then Freezes
Problem: My galaxy J3 constantly reboots, then freezes up on the welcome screen, and reboots again, repeating this process until I finally just manually shut the phone down. I’ve contacted my carrier and Samsung with no help at all. Please help.
Solution: The first thing that you will need to do in this case is to remove the microSD card of the phone if you have one installed. The microSD card has been known to cause this kind of problem especially if it has corrupt sectors.
In case your phone does not have a microSD card or if the issue still persists even with the card removed then proceed with the steps listed below.
- Start the phone in Safe Mode then check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then an app you downloaded could be causing the problem. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
- Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
