The Samsung Galaxy J2 Pro 2018 comes packed with decent hardware specifications and features but just like any other smartphones, it’s still prone to problems especially performance-related issues. In this post, I will walk you through in fixing this problem and making your phone respond again. How to unfreeze your frozen Galaxy J7 Pro 2018
Your Galaxy J2 Pro 2018 has a removable battery and that’s a good thing because obviously, this problem is due to a system crash and you can easily fix it by doing the following procedures:
Pull the battery out
This is the reason why phones with removable batteries that get frozen are easier to fix. What you have to do is pull the battery out. Once the battery is detached from your device, press and hold the Power key for a minute to drain off electricity stored in capacitors. After which, replace the battery and try turning the phone on.
Most of the time, the device will boot up normally and that’s the end of the problem. However, if it still won’t respond after doing this, then it’s possible that the battery got completely drained and there’s not enough power to boot the phone up. In this case, here’s what you should do:
- Plug the charger to a working wall outlet and make sure you’re using the original charger.
- Using the original power / data cable, connect the phone to its charger.
- Regardless whether the phone responds to it or not, leave it connected to the charger for 10 minutes.
- Now, press and hold the Power key and the volume down button until the device boots up.
The problem here is that your phone doesn’t respond and won’t turn on. If you can make the device boot up after doing the procedures above, then the problem is fixed but there’s no guarantee it won’t happen again in the future.
Do the Master Reset
To prevent the problem from occurring again, you should reset it so that it will be reset back to its factory default settings and configuration. It’s up to you when you do it but make sure you backup your files and data before the reset. Here’s how you do the master reset…
- Turn off the device.
- Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key, then press and hold the Power key.
- When the Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds, then ‘No command’ before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
- Press the Volume down key several times to highlight “wipe data / factory reset.
- Press Power button to select.
- Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes — delete all user data’ is highlighted.
- Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
- When the master reset is complete, “Reboot system now” is highlighted.
- Press the Power key to restart the device.
On the other hand, if your device is still not responding after doing the first two procedures above, then it could be an issue with the battery. If you have a spare battery pack, try to change the battery but if not and you’re not sure if it’s really the battery that has the problem, you should bring it to the shop so that the technician can advise you what the problem really is all about and what you need to do about it.
