Pixel Turns Off Randomly Not Turning Back On

Problem: Dear Google Support people, I have had my “Refurbished” phone now for a little over two weeks now and guess what? I am shopping at walmart with my kids, my cell is at probably 17% (my guess since the last time I looked at it), and once again it just turns itself off and will not come back on. The phone will not show any sign of charging when plugged in either. Obviously this is a defective feature with the Pixel phone and I am at a loss as to what to do at this point. Do I need to just keep sending the phones back to you for a replacement every month or is there some sort of permanent resolution to this problem that we can do? This is now the 4th time this has happened with the Pixel phone and again the phone overall is in mint condition because I do take very good care of my phones. Lesson learned that I will never own a Google Pixel phone again once my contract is up. Please reply as soon as possible since today is Wednesday and maybe I can get it sent to you by Friday so I can have a phone again by the start of next week. Thank you.

Related Problem: I have a Pixel . It suddenly shut down and did not boot again. I then tried to start it but it got caught in a boot loop. After a while it started up and stayed up. I decided to perform a factory reset. after it finished it started up normally. But all the sudden it shut down with no detectable reason. (After approx. 5 min after opening the Google Play Store) After that happened it did nothing more than booting once (no boot loop: it booted once and failed –> it shut off) At the moment I am not able to start it at all. (The screen does not flash; so there is no reaction at all) The Battery should not be the issue since it was charging before and while i performed the factory reset.  Is there any solution to this since I really like to keep the phone because it offers great performance?

Solution: The best troubleshooting that you can do right now is to clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris stuck in this port. Once this is done try charging the phone for at least 20 minutes using a wall charger then try turning on the phone. In case the phone does not charge or turn on then try using a different charging cord and wall charger. You should also try charging the phone from a computer USB port.

In case the issue persists then you will need to have the phone checked at a service center.

Pixel Not Turning On

Problem: Hello, Yesterday my phone turned off and would not turn back on. I was using it and set it aside for about an hour (it was on 97% battery) and when I tried to use it again it was unresponsive. I tried force restarting and charging. I was told to let the battery drain until the red light comes on to let me know it was dead, then charge it for about 30 minutes. I did all that and it still won’t turn on. I can’t take the battery out because the pixel does not have a removable battery nor do i have the tools to look inside. Please let me know if there is anything I can do. (The warranty is not applicable as this phone is over a year old.)

Related Problem: my phone had just charged a 100 percent and when i started using it froze for a few seconds and then turned off. I cant turn it on no matter what, the screen doesnt even flash. It just vibrates when i try to boot into safe mode.

Solution: To fix this problem the first thing that you will need to do is to clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris stuck in this port. Once this is done proceed with the steps listed below.

  • Charge the phone for 20 minutes using its supplied charging cord and wall charger.
  • Try using a different charging cord and wall charger if the phone does not charge.
  • Try charging the phone from a computer USB port.
  • Press and hold  the power button for at least 30 seconds.

In case the phone does not turn on then you should have this checked at a service center.

Pixel Only Charges When Phone Is Off

Problem: My pixel is not charging … when I put it on charging nothing happens , but when I turn it off phone it’s start charging . And when I restart it with cable inserted it also start charging . but in on condition nothing happen when I put on charging.

Solution: Try using a different charging cord and wall charger to charge the phone. If the issue persists then it’s very likely that this is caused by a faulty power IC. You should however check if this issue is caused by a software glitch by doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset. In case the issue persists then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

Pixel Using micro USB Adapter

Problem: I have a lot of USB charger blocks based on the 5v / 2amp convention for charging, both AC and 12v source voltage.  Most of these lead to cables with micro-USB connectors that I’ve used with earlier generation phones. While I normally will charge the Pixel with the supplied charger, I also would like to be able to connect to my computer for data transfer, and charging from other sources, such as my laptop computer, batteries designed for recharging phones, and to charge from 12v cigarette sockets in cars. Is it acceptable (safe for the Pixel ), to use Micro-USB to USB-C adapters (I’ve bought a handful) so that I can use all of my existing infrastructure with the Pixel?  I’ve read a couple of discussions, and it seems like half the people say it is fine, and half said that it is not fine.

Solution: You will be able to use the micro USB adapter safely however the charging will be slower since it will have a cap of 5W.
