The #Samsung #Galaxy #S8 is a premium flagship phone released last year that sports a fresh design. The phone uses a 5.8 inch Super AMOLED display that has an 18.5:9 aspect ratio. The screen size might sound large but because of its aspect ratio the phone itself has similar dimensions to the S7. Although this is a solid performing phone there are instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy S8 stopped charging issue and other related problems.
S8 Stopped Charging
Problem: My phone stopped charging for no apparent reason. Few days before this happened the phone has been displaying a lot of charging issues. No matter which cable I use to charge ,the phone would connect and disconnect intermittently. Also, when it is charging, it would show being connected, but the charge doesn’t go up ( eg. it stays at 16% for a long time). Then, suddenly, it would change to 99/ 100 or whatever number. The numbers would keep jumping back and forth and the battery drains really quickly. All these happened prior to totally not charging at all now. My phone has switched off and wont turn on at all despite leaving it connected to a charger.
Solution: The first thing that you need to do in this case is to make sure that the charging port of the phone is free from any dirt or debris. If necessary you should clean this port using a can of compressed air. Once this port is clean try charging the phone for at least 20 minutes using a different charging cord and wall charger. Try turning on the phone after this.
In case the phone does not charge then try using a wireless charger. If the phone charges with the wireless charger then the problem could be caused by a faulty charging port in which case you will need to have this checked at a service center.
One last troubleshooting step to consider is to try starting the phone in recovery mode then from here perform a factory reset. Take note that this will erase your phone data.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this could already be caused by ain internal component that is failing to work properly.
S8 Incomplete Connection Error When Charging
Problem: Hi. I have a Samsung s8 that charges fine plugged into the wall and a computer, but when I try to use my joey charger I get an error message stating incomplete connection… I can charge other items with the joey, so I have no idea what to do! Help please!
Solution: The first thing that you will need to do in this case is to make sure that the problem is not caused by a software glitch. I recommend that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete try to check if the problem still occurs. In case it does then try cleaning the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air then use a different charging cord when charging the phone with the Joey charger.
S8 Not Turning On
Problem: I am in the UK. I have an S8 . When bought, it was locked to EE (Orange). I think I managed to unlock it from EE using a code I bought on eBay . The phone had been in my desk unused. When it went into the desk it worked perfectly. I recently decided that I wanted to use it again and took it out of the desk pushed the ON button and nothing happened. I decided to charge it and plugged in the charger. There was no light showing. After about 10 minutes, the charging light came on. There was also a battery logo showing the battery was flat. After an hour, this battery logo went from zero to 100%. But when you unplug the phone and push the ON button, it does not come on. After looking at posts on the web, I found how to get into the boot screen. Holding the volume and ON switch for a while. I can load this screen. I have left the phone on in this boot screen and it will stay on in this screen for quite a few hours before the battery goes flat. And when you go to charge it, as always, it takes a while (10 minutes) before the charge light comes on and then a hour later, the phone shows it is fully charge. This is all the phone will do. I have looked at the options in the boot load screen and it gave me the option to reset to factory. I have tried this but it is no different. I took it to a local repair shop and they think the battery is fine and they believe the issue is that the software on the phone is corrupt and it needs new software. They can’t get any software and say because of this, the phone is unrepairable. Can anyone help with this?
Solution: What you will want to do first in this case is to make sure that the battery of the phone has sufficient charge by following the troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris stuck in this port.
- Try charging the phone for at least 20 minutes using a different charging cord and wall charger.
- Once the phone charges try turning it on.
In case the issue persists then the next step is to check if this is a software related problem. Since you have already performed a factory reset then the best way to check if this is the case is to flash the phone with its updated stock firmware file. You can get the firmware file from the Sammobile website which is also where you can get the instructions on how to flash your phone.
In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then you need to bring this to a service center and have it repaired.
