Note 8 Restarts Everytime Mobile Data Is Used

Problem: Today, out of nowhere my phone began to restart every time I turned on the data. It works fine with data in “safe mode” or just on wifi but when data comes on within seconds it’s restarting. If I leave the data on it will loop every few seconds. I have not downloaded any new apps and I have already tried clearing the cache partition. I have no idea what to do or where to start when it comes to fixing the issue. I don’t know what it means that it works in safe mode either… I have been going through every app and either disabling or uninstalling them trying to see if that helps but, again, I don’t really know what I’m doing or if there is an easier way to fix this without doing a factory reset

Solution: If the problem does not occur when the phone is started in Safe Mode then it’s very likely that it is caused by one of the apps you downloaded. To find out what app this is you will have to uninstall a downloaded app then  check if the issue still occurs. If it does then uninstall another app. Repeat this process until you get to the point where the issue does not occur anymore. The last app you uninstalled is most likely the culprit.

In case you can’t find out what app is causing the problem then you should consider doing a factory reset. Just make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

If after the reset the problem persists then you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this could most likely be caused by a faulty hardware component.

Note 8 Wi-Fi Connection Is Not Safe Error

Problem: Hi, when travelling abroad I find many free WiFi connections available (airports, restaurants, museum, etc). When I try to connect my phone, often it looks like to be successfully connected but after a few seconds, Chrome comes up telling me that the connection is not safe and disconnecting my device. My wife on the contrary is Always able to get the connection with her phone. When I use protected WiFi connections (knowing the password) I always succeed to connect my note 8 device. What is going wrong? Please help. Many thanks

Solution: The first thing you need to do in this particular case is to make sure that the time and date set in your phone is correct. Once this has been verified and you are still getting this error message then it is most likely that the phone is connecting to an unsecured network. There’s a possibility that your personal data can be stolen when using this type of network. In case you still want to connect then try clearing the cache and data of the Chrome browser from the application manager then check if the issue still occurs.

Note 8 Not Automatically Connecting To Unsecured Wi-Fi

Problem: I have a note 8. Every time I try to connect to an unsecured wifi (for example at a hotel or an airport) it will open up the website portal, but will say something like “cannot connect”/ “no connection” etc & be a blank page. However if I then use packet data & type in the wifi web page, reconnect to wifi then type in the wifi name and password, it works. This manual method only works if I can get the web page (etc) details. I’ve cleaned caches and all the usual fare, have changed sims and providers, been overseas and no matter who/what/when/where I cannot automatically connect to unsecured wifi.

Solution: The best thing you can do right now is to first check if this is caused by an app you downloaded by starting the phone in Safe Mode. If the issue does not occur in this mode then it could be caused by a downloaded app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

In case the issue still occurs in Safe Mode then I suggest that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
