S7 Edge Is Charging Very Slowly
Problem: In the past couple of days, my edge has been charging super slowly. I have multiple fast chargers and I’ve tried them all. They are working on my husband’s phone without issue, so I don’t think it’s an issue with the chargers themselves. If my husband and I are both at 50%, it will say about 20 minutes til fully charged on his, but if I plug mine into the same charger, it says something ridiculous like 6 hours. That’s with the phone turned off. I have one wireless charger, and it’s a little better but not much. If I’m at 50%, it’ll take about 3 hours to charge. My husband’s phone will still take about 20 minutes. I tried charging in safe mode and wiped the cache partition. Nothing changed. I did a factory reset, and I’m still having the same problem. I thought maybe it was a firmware issue or something. There’s no pending OTA updates, so I figured I’d see if there was an update through Samsung Smart Switch on my PC. When I connect my phone to the computer though, I get an error message saying the USB device isn’t recognized on my computer. On my phone, I don’t have any USB options besides “charging”. No MTP or anything. If I go to settings and search “USB configurations”, I can change it from that screen but it’s still not recognized by my computer. I enabled debugging through developer options. I downloaded Samsung drivers. I uninstalled each USB in device manager and made sure all drivers were up to date. Still nothing. I hate to give this phone up but I can’t use it if it’s going to take 6 hours to charge. Does anyone have any ideas at all? I’m just out of the warranty period and there is no local tech center near me.
Solution: It looks like this could be caused by a faulty charging port already seeing that you already performed all of the troubleshooting steps that a phone owner can do. The fact that the computer is having a hard time recognizing your phone just increases the possibility that the charging port could be damaged. The best thing that you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
S7 Edge Fast Battery Drain After Nougat Update
Problem: After installing 7.0 I gave it a chance to settle in but about a month after doing so it’s been a struggle to keep my phone going for 24 hours on one charge. Its started this weird thing that after I get my 15 percent battery warning it starts dropping almost 1 percent per second and it’s driving me nuts!
Solution: Does your phone have a microSD card installed? If it does then try removing this card first then check if the issue still occurs as sometimes this card can cause the battery drain problem.
If your phone does not have a microSD card or if the issue still occurs after the microSD card is removed then perform the additional troubleshooting steps listed below. If the issue still occurs after performing a step then proceed to the next one.
- Start the phone in Safe Mode. Does the issue occur in this mode? If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you installed. Try updating your apps from the Google Play Store or you can also find out what app is causing the problem then uninstall it.
- Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
S7 Edge Charges Slowly When Phone Is On
Problem: Hello I have a Galaxy S7 I tried the troubleshooting steps listed for slow charging. The phone does indeed charge faster when the phone is off. So I wiped the cache partition. Still slow charging so I did a factory reset and it is still charging barely at all takes all night for a full charge. Since it does go faster when turned off should I not be able to fix the problem myself?
Solution: You could try cleaning the charging port of your phone making sure that any dirt or debris stuck in the port is removed. One this is done try charging your phone using a different charging cord and wall charger ( must be Quick Charge 2.0 certified or have an output rating of 2.0A). In case the issue still persists then you need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
S7 Edge Moisture Has Been Detected Error
Problem: Today I took my s7 edge to the beach. While I was careful that it doesn’t go in water, some splashes might have come on it (but then again it is water resistant and I have never had issues taking it in shower, where it is exposed to more water). My phone worked fine all day but when I tried charging it later today, it didn’t charge and ‘moisture has been detected’ error showed up. Can you PLEASE tell me a solution for this asap since my phone is off now and I am out of country on holiday. Would be grateful if a quick reply is sent. Thank you
Solution: What you will want to do right now is to make sure that the port is thoroughly dry. Ideally, you will want to use a vacuum to remove the moisture in the port. If you don’t have a vacuum then you can also use a hair dryer.
Once the port is dry try charging it. If the same error message occurs then you should try using a different charging cord and wall charger.
S7 Edge Will not Fast Charge Anymore
Problem: I have a Samsung galaxy s7 edge and it was working great with fast charging for the first couple of months but i’d constantly leave it overnight charging many nights and use it in the shower…and it won’t do fast charging anymore . …it simply says cable charging and it takes the whole night to charge instead of 1 hour or so…it still charges but not like before ..i wanted to see if it’s the battery of my phone or wut..thank you so much
Solution: If the phone does not fast charge anymore then you need to perform the following troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris present in the port is removed.
- Try using a different charging cord when charging the phone.
- Try using a different quick charger when charging the phone.
- To check if the issue is caused by a software glitch you should backup your phone data then do a factory reset. After the reset try charging your phone.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
