S6 Won’t Respond To Charging
Problem: My phone is dead and won’t respond to charging. I have plugged it into different chargers and sometimes get an empty battery symbol appearing briefly, but nothing more. To my knowledge the phone hasn’t been damaged/near water etc.
Solution: If your phone does not respond to charging and is totally dead then you have to perform the following troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris stuck in the port is removed.
- Perform a simulated battery pull. To do this just press and hold the power button and volume down button for at least 10 seconds. Your phone should reboot after this.
- Try charging your phone using a different charging cord and wall charger.
- Try charging your phone via a computer USB port.
- Try starting your phone in recovery mode. If it starts in this mode then I recommend that you do a factory reset. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.
If the above steps fail to fix the problem then you need to bring your phone to a service center and have it checked as this could already be caused by a defective battery or an internal component that is failing to work.
S6 Will Not Charge Above 80%
Problem: My phone wont charge above 80% and when plugged in says something to the effect of ” fast charging (battery will be full in 1 minute)”. I did a factory reset and the problem persists even with a different charger.
Solution: Try using a different charging cord then check if it fixes the problem. If it doesn’t then this could be a battery related problem. If this is the case then you should bring your phone to a service center and have the battery checked.
S6 Turns Off Doesn’t Turn On Unless Plugged To Charger
Problem: At first my phone would randomly power down & restart. Then it started powering off without restarting. I would have to turn on with power button. Then it started powering off & it wouldn’t turn back on unless i plugged it into a charger. And then only a fast charger would work sometimes. At times it would just continuously try to startup but wouldn’t get past the u.s.cellular & samsung startup screens. I’ve cleared the cache partition & rebooted. Didn’t help. I just tried the safe mode thing & within 10 secs it shut off & wouldn’t come back on. I’m going to plug it in & try turning it on & i guess do a factory reset.
Solution: You should definitely try doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset. If the issue persists after the reset then the problem could either be caused by a faulty battery or power IC that’s not working properly. I recommend that you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked if this is the case.
Problem: Phone fell in water took out as fast as possible take a part phone battery and all put in rice for about a week turn phone on and get a battery with a red triangle in the middle .Use wireless charger get phone to come on and phone say Battery overheating and turns off.do I need A new battery or should I take it into get it fixed?
Solution: It looks like the battery has been water damaged. Either this or the charging port assembly of your phone got shorted when it came into contact with water. I recommend you try replacing the battery first. If the issue persists then you should consider replacing the charging port assembly. It’s best if this is done at a service center as they will have the correct tools needed to do the job.
S6 Starts In Samsung Logo Then Screen Goes Black After Phone Got Wet
Problem: I dropped my phone in water, it was fine until I dried it with an air blower. The charging sign when it’s flat will flash on and off at a constant paste while it’s on charge. I held the charger at a different angle and it went up to 92% I turned the phone on and it only reached the Samsung logo then just went black.
Solution: Since you dropped your phone in water then there’s a possibility that the water has entered the phone and affected some of the internal components. What you should do first in this case is to place the phone in a bag of rice for at least 48 hours. The rice will absorb the moisture inside the phone. Once this is done try checking if the same issue still occurs. If it does then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
S6 Will Not Charge After Contact With Emulsion Paint
Problem: I dropped my Samsung s6 in emulsion paint it was in a case cleaned it all up and all seems fine but I think won’t charge .. what can I do as it’s fairly
Solution: The paint might have covered some of the metal contacts of the charging port thus preventing the phone to charge. Try checking the charging port if there is any paint inside and if you can remove it then try to do so. Otherwise, you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
S6 Randomly Resets
Problem: So one day my 1 year old brother got my phone while I was in another room and like baby’s do they put anything in their mouth but I got it back and my audio wasn’t work because he of course put the headphone Jack area in his mouth but I got that fixed but now Every time I lay it softly on wood, my garage floor and sometimes carpet or cardboard it resets and takes power away
Solution: What you should do first in this case is to check if the phone software is somehow causing this problem by following the troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Start the phone in Safe Mode. Does the problem occur in this mode? If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
- Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
If the above steps fail to fix the problem then this could already be a hardware related issue. I recommend that you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
