S5 Working Extremely Slowly
Problem: Hello! My phone has been working extremely slowly for the past several months and wont update. It is currently version 5.0, and whenever I try to update the phone the update downloads but the update installation is never successful. I have tried clearing the cache, but that hasn’t worked. In terms of the phone’s speed, it now takes at least a minute to send snapchat messages, and oftentimes spotify has issues loading and working. There are also other performance issues, and usually the phone just doesn’t run anywhere near as well as it used to. Any ideas?
Solution: This looks like a software related issue which can be fixed by following the troubleshooting steps listed below. Before proceeding make sure to remove the microSD card of your phone ( if you have one installed) as this could be a factor that’s slowing down your phone.
- The first thing you should do is to check if a downloaded app is causing this problem. To do this you just have to start the phone in Safe Mode. In this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. Try to check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
- Try wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. This erases the temporary system data of the phone which could be causing the problem.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
S5 Software Update Is Postponed Error
Problem: This morning I got a notification that a software update was available for my phone. So I installed the update, but after it was complete and my phone restarted I got another notification saying the update was postponed. It wouldn’t go away, so a few hours later I tried to install it again, my phone went through the process and rebooted again, and I still have a notification saying the update is postponed. I watched the screen the whole time, it went through all 282 apps on my phone but the update is still incomplete. The notification is really annoying and I can’t get rid of it.
Solution: You will need to try wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.If this fails to fix the problem then the best way to proceed is to do a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset. Once the reset is done proceed with updating your phone software.
S5 Stuck In Bootloop After Update
Problem: Hi, I have a question Regarding S5-G906K ( Korean version ) as after an update on the phone the phone is stuck in bootloop. I have downloaded all the 19 IOS files from samsung/SAMmobile website https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-G906K/ and used odin to update the firmware on my phone. Even after the successful installation of the 19 ROM the phone is still in the boot loop. Plus i have to mention here that the KNOX warranty VOID is still 0X0 as i have only installed the ROMs from Samsung website. I have checked quite a lot of blogs and forums but all i can find out is how to use odin to install/update a new firmware but couldn’t find the same issue been happened with anyone. Note: I can only use power+home+down key . phone doesn’t go in recovery mode ( using Power+home+up ) even after the successful installation of firmware ( as per Odin ). Any help/advice is much appreciated.
Solution: Try removing the microSD card of your phone ( if you have one installed). You should also try replacing your battery with a new one. If the bootloop issue still occurs then this could already be a hardware related problem. I recommend that you have this checked at a service center.
S5 Freezes After Device Sleeps
Problem: I have very frequent issues with my Samsung S5 Mini freezing after the device sleeps. The device becomes unresponsive to all input and I need to do a battery pull to get it going again. I have performed several factory resets, both from the System menu and by using the Volume Up/Home/Power button combinations. I suspect that this is caused by applications attempting to perform background network requests when the device is in sleep mode, for instance Plex will cause it quite regularly if I am using it to control my Chromecast. The Facebook app also appears to be causing problems as it will quite frequently report that the application has stopped.
Solution: Try doing another reset again but this time don’t install anything in your device after the reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset. Once the reset is complete check if the issue still occurs. If it does then remove the microSD card of your phone ( if you have one installed) as this could be causing the problem.
Should the issue persist then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
S5 Drop Down Panel Not Showing
Problem: The drop down panel on my galaxy s5 doesn’t show up anymore. There used to be the quick panel icons (WiFi, ringer, location, airplane mode etc.) When you swipe down with one finger with the phone open (like as I’d to check your notifications ) but now they have disappeared. I have to physically go to the settings app to change any settings in my phone. When I try pull down the menu, press the square on the top right corner and then hit edit it brings me to notification panel settings. When I click “set quick settings buttons” my phone delays 2 seconds and then displays “unfortunately settings has stopped working” Is there a solution to this. I have been trying to find one for months and nobody has a solution.
Solution: Is you phone running on an updated software version? If it isn’t then try updating your phone software as the drop down panel issue could be caused by a software bug. Regarding the settings has stopped working issue that you are getting you should try restarting the phone as this usually resolves this kind of problem. If the issue persists then I recommend that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
S5 Freezes When Tap To Speak Activated
Problem: A voice has started on my s5, it is also freezing the screen which means I cannot get to the factory restore setting. It will not allow any text to be typed in google or anywhere. After tapping on a thumbnail I am told to tap twice to gain access. On entering the settings screen it will not allow me scroll down, this is the case in all functions where I need to scroll. Also it won’t let me swipe the screen down. Hope I have given enough info to enable you to help me. Thanks.
Solution: This is an issue which affected some Galaxy models last year. One temporary fix to this is to restart the phone. A more permanent solution is to make sure that your phone is not only running no the latest software version but also to make sure that apps such as the Google App is updated. You can update your phone apps by opening the Google Play Store then clicking on the My Apps & Games section.
Problem: Over the past 6 months of having my Samsung Galaxy S5 the time has frozen a numerous times. This is mostly when I have a lock password so I removed it and it worked. However, a couple of months later it has come again and the time freezes. This affects my apps, alarms and notifications. It had done this one multiple occasions and would like to know how this could be fixed
Solution: Does your phone have a microSD card installed? If it does then try removing it as this might be causing the problem. If your phone doesn’t have a microSD card installed or if the issue still occurs even when the card is removed then perform the following troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Start the phone in recovery mode then wipe its cache partition. Check if the issue still occurs.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
