Note 5 Screen Overlay Error
Problem: Issues with screen overlay. Says to go to apps but where do I find this overlay? There is nothing there to check or uncheck? I cannot locate it and it won’t allow me to do anything on my Note 5 without saying overlay..
Solution: Screen overlay is a feature that was introduced in Android Marshmallow that allows certain apps to draw over other apps. One example of this feature at work is the Facebook Messenger chat heads that stays in the foreground of other apps. The problem occurs when you try using a newly installed app while a Facebook chat head is running. This new app will be asking for permissions from the phone in order for it to run properly. Unfortunately, when an overlay is running the Android system will not allow any permissions at all to be granted. This is why you will be getting this error.
What you need to do in this particular case is to stop any instance of an app running in overlay then check if the issue still occurs.
One particular method that works is to simply restart the phone. Once this is done open any of the new apps that you have installed so that it will be granted permissions. The issue will now be fixed.
Note 4 Screen Has Purple Spot
Problem: So yesterday I noticed that on the right side of my phone there was an purple spot. This morning when I got up on the right side of my phone is almost purple. The last time I dropped it was yesterday
Solution:When your phone screen has developed a purple spot then chances are the display has been damaged. To check if this is the case you should perform the troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Start the phone in Safe Mode. Is the purple spot present in this mode? If it isn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Is the purple spot still present?
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then it is very likely that the display of your phone is damaged. I recommend that you have this checked at a service center.
Note 5 Screen Sensitivity Not Adjustable
Problem: Hello. I hope you can help me also. My screen sensitivity is not adjustable. Can you think of anything that will fix this? I have a Samsung Note 5 Android version 6.01.01.
Solution: Right now the phone has no setting to adjust the screen sensitivity. If you have a problem with the sensitivity of your phone then perform the following troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Does your phone have a screen protector installed? If it does then this could be causing the problem. Remove the screen protector then check if the issue still occurs.
- Try to check if an app you installed is causing the problem by starting the phone in Safe Mode. When the phone is working in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. If the issue does not occur in this mode then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
If the issue still occurs even after performing the steps listed above then you need to bring you phone to a service center and have it checked.
Note 5 Display Is Not Bright
Problem: My phone display is not as bright as it normally is. In daylight it looks black and i can’t see anything. It is fine when inside or at night. The brightness is all the way up.
Solution: For this particular issue you should try turning off the auto brightness setting then set the brightness level all the way up to its maximum setting. If the issue persists then remove the screen protector of your phone is you have one installed.
Should the above step fail to fix the problem then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
Note 5 Blue Screen Stuck In Download Mode
Problem: My phone has a blue screen and it says downloading do not turn off target. Before that my phone won’t not work
Solution: The first thing that you need to do in this particular case is to simulate a battery pull by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. Normally, your phone should restart after this. If the problem persists then you need to start the phone in recovery mode then do a factory reset from here. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
Note 5 Stuck In AT&T Logo
Problem: Hi I have ATT note 5 stuck on ATT logo, I want to know if there is a way that I can retrieve data in state. I can get to download mode and boot-loader mode. The phone doesn’t have any liquid or physical damage no root no changes in anyway from original state.
Solution: If your phone is stuck in the AT&T logo screen then there is no way for you to retrieve your phone data. The safest troubleshooting step to do for this particular problem without erasing your phone data is listed below.
- Connect your phone to its charger then check if the phone will completely boot up. If it does then you should backup your phone data. As for the issue it could be caused by a faulty battery since your phone will start with the charger connected.
- Start the phone in Safe Mode. If you are able to access this mode then backup your phone data from here then do a factory reset.
- Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.

HERE THE CHIMES AS I TOUCH SCREEN, TRIED THE BATTERY AND MEMORY CARD OPTION, BUT STILL NO SCREEN. SAID TO DO A SOFT RESET, BUT CANT SEE THE SCREEN TO KNOW WHERE THAT WOULD BE??? HELP? PLEASE.
Solution: If your screen is black but you can hear notifications arriving then there’s a possibility that the display is damaged. To check if this is the case you have to start your phone in recovery mode. If the screen works in this mode then it’s possible that the problem is caused by a software glitch. You will need to perform a factory reset in this mode. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data. If the screen does not work even in recovery mode then you will have to bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
