Note 4 Freezes When Using Apps

Problem: My phone acts like it needs to catch up to me it will freeze for maybe 1 to a few seconds when I try to do anything sometimes. It freezes when I’m trying to type and when I’m doing stuff it’s like it is unresponsive for a few seconds I don’t know what’s causing this because my phone has been fine until 2 days ago also sometimes i will have to hold the button on the side to get the screen to come on

Solution: The first thing that you would usually do in this case is to check if some form of software glitch is causing the problem. Perform the troubleshooting steps listed below which are recommended for this problem. After performing a step immediately check if the issue still occurs. If it does then proceed to the next troubleshooting step.

  • Does your phone have a microSD card installed? If it does then you should try removing this as this could be the cause of the problem.
  • Start your phone in Safe Mode. Does the problem occur in this mode? If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Try wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

Note 4 Lagging Since Software Update

Problem: Since update in Feb 2017 my phone is lagging, I can go to bed with the phone 100% charged and by 6am it’s flat this is despite purchasing a genuine new battery. I have tried to troubleshoot, soft and hard reset several times, clear cache, etc. Help much appreciated as loved this phone pre update. Thanks Clare

Solution: Usually, a hard reset will fix this lagging issue that you are experiencing with your phone after the update. Since it fails to work then you should look at other factors that can cause this issue.

  • Does your phone have a microSD card installed? If it does then you should try removing this as this could be what’s causing the problem.
  • Since you mentioned that the battery gets drained overnight then you should try getting a new battery

If the above steps fail to fix the problem then you should consider manually flashing the previous software version to your device. Instructions on how to flash your phone can be found at several of the popular Android websites online.

Note 4 Shuts Down With Battery Power Left

Problem: My Samsung Galaxy Note seems to have server problems, it keeps shutting down while still having battery and it would even start getting hot. Sometimes it only works when in a cool weather. Sometimes booting fails. But when it does start up it works perfectly, except for the frontal Camera. I checked on internet before and apparently there’s no way to fix it but I would like to at least fix the camera issue.

Solution: The best way to troubleshoot this problem ( random shutdowns, front camera issue) is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone yet. Try to check first if the problem still occurs. If it does then this could already be caused by an internal component that is failing to work. If this is the case then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

Note 4 Unfortunately Snapchat Has Stopped Working Error

Problem: My Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is having many problems, the first one being that my Snapchat automatically closes every time I open the app. Its says “unfortunately Snapchat has stopped working” and it does it every time I open the app. The second problem I have is with my Pokemon Go app, when I’m playing the game no new Pokemon will pop up unless I close the app and re-open it and even then it only pops up the Pokemon around me, if I move I have to close the app and repeat the process. The third problem is my battery is horrendous, it drops drastically fast even when I’m just listening to music with no apps running in the background. When it gets down to about 40% it will die completely and won’t turn back on without a charge connection. Please help

Solution: Since your phone is experiencing multiple issues let’s tackle them separately.

For the Snapchat issue that you are experiencing what you should do first is to clear the cache and data of the Snapchat app. Once this is done try to check if the issue still occurs. If it does then you should try uninstalling the app then download a fresh version from the Google Play Store.

For the Pokemon Go issue that you are experiencing the first thing you should check is if your phone has a strong and stable Internet connection. It’s best if you are getting ang LTE signal if you are using your mobile data. Try also to use different Wi-Fi networks. If the issue persists then proceed with clearing the cache and data of the Pokemon Go app. Should this fail to fix the problem then you need to uninstall the app and download a fresh version from the Google Play Store.

Finally, for the battery drain issue that you are having you should try getting a new battery as this could be caused by a weak battery. If the issue still persists even with a new battery installed then I recommend that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

Note 4 Facebook App Goes Black When Uploading Photos

Problem: Hi. I have a galaxy note 4 with Facebook as a preloaded app. Everything operates perfectly until I go to grab a picture to upload. Almost everytime when looking for an image my photos in my gallery all go black until the entire facebook app blackens. I have to close it completely and start over.

Solution: The best way to deal with this issue is to clear the cache and data of the Facebook app first. If this fails to fix the problem then try uninstalling the app updates as the problem could be caused by a recent app update.

Note 4 Keeps On Doing Software Update

Problem: Hello, my phone in the past two days has been doing a software update about 4 times a day each time it will update for about 15 to 20 min. I recently reconnected this phone. What could be the problem?

Solution: If you just recently reconnected your phone then this could be legitimate updates that your carrier is releasing. Try checking the phone’s current software version against the software version that is being downloaded. If it is different then it’s very likely that you are downloading a new update that your phone needs. If the update is the same version as what is installed in your phone then you should try to do a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

Note 4 Not Recording Correct Time Of Text When Phone Is Off

Problem: My Note 4 does not record the accurate time of missed calls and text messages, when the phone is turned off. Is there a way to change this so I can see the accurate time of each missed msg? I noticed this same problem with other android phones I’ve owned. Hope you can help!

Solution: The way android processes the text message received is the it will display what time the message arrived in your phone. So if a message was sent to your phone last night and your phone was not turned on until the morning then the timestamp will be the morning time.
