S7 Randomly Switches Off
Problem: Hi, I have a Samsung Galaxy S7, running on an O2 monthly contract, which is approximately 2 years of age. Until recently it has worked well, but in the last few weeks it sometimes switches itself off for no reason or won’t switch on easily. The repair shop replaced the battery and charger lead and that seemed to help for a while (both manufactured by Samsung, not generic). Three days ago, it suddenly stopped working and when I switched it on, it showed the android robot and a message that it was downloading. I forced it to restart (after waiting a considerable time) and it was fine after that. Now it is still switching off and not switching on again. I tried a soft reset yesterday and it switched on for about 10 minutes with a message that the memory was full. It’s switched off again and I can’t get it to come on. Would a factory reset help? And how do I do that if I can’t get it to come on? Or should I try something else? I’d prefer it if you do not publish my email address.
Solution: The first thing that you need to do right now is to make sure that the battery has sufficient charge. Charge the phone first for at least 20 minutes. Make sure that you see the charging symbol. If the phone does not charge then try using a different charging cord and wall charger. Once the phone has sufficient charge ( around 80%) you will have to do a factory reset from the recovery mode. Take note that this will erase your phone data.
If the above steps does not fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this could already be caused by a faulty power IC.
S7 Stops Charging
Problem: Hi. I have an issue with my S7 smartphone. It’s started a couple of days ago: When I plug in to a charger (I tried several ones) the phones starts to charge, but after a while you hear a strange sound(something robotic) and the phone stops charging. This happens mostly after the phone reaches 50%. Sometimes I plug in to the charger and it is not charging till I switch off the phone. I suppose it is a software problem… Have you met this kind of issues?
Related Problem: I have a Verizon S7 and while it was charging, it was stuck on 71% and my phone starting getting hot. So I turned my phone off so it can cool down and it wouldn’t turn back on. It’s been 2 days and still won’t turn on. I tried holding the power button and the volume keys for 45 seconds and won’t work. What else can I do? What can be the cause of this why this happened?
Solution: The best way to start the troubleshooting is to check if the charger that you are using is causing the problem. Try using a different charging cord and wall charger to charge the phone. If the issue still occurs then clean the charging port with a can of compressed air then charge the phone again. You should also check if a software glitch is causing this problem by doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.
In case the issue persists then you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this could already be caused by a faulty hardware component.
S7 Gets Stuck On Samsung Logo
Problem: For some reason, my Galaxy S7 no longer powers on completely. It does turn on but gets stuck on the logo and can’t even reach the home screen. I don’t know why it’s happening but I know for sure that something the phone reboot by itself. This has happen once before and fortunately it fix by itself (Don’t know how). Now, no matter what I do, it just won’t continue starting up. Can you help?
Solution: The first thing that you should do in this case is to remove the microSD card of the phone is you have one installed. Once this is done make sure that the phone has sufficient charge ( if it doesn’t then charge it until it reaches 80%). Try starting the phone in Safe Mode first. If you can access this mode then the problem could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
In case the issue still occurs then you will have to start the phone in recovery mode then wipe the cache partition of the device followed by a factory reset. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.
Should the issue persist then you should consider flashing the phone with its updated stock firmware file using Odin. You can get the file as well as the instructions on how to flash your phone from the Sammobile website.
