How to fix Pandora that keeps crashing on Samsung Galaxy Note 8 (easy steps)

Music streaming app Pandora Music or simply Pandora has been reported by some of our readers that own the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 to frequently crash. According to some, the app closes on its own upon opening or when the streaming starts. Others reported that they get the error “Unfortunately, Pandora has stopped.” The Force closes and the error are the common signs of an app crash and it might be due to some apps or a firmware problem.

Some users may be able to use the app for a short period of time before the problem manifests again. It’s just a minor issue and it can be easily fixed but it’s very annoying as it hinders you from using the app. If you often listen to music through Pandora, then you need to address this problem immediately and that’s the purpose of this post. How to fix Galaxy Note 8 with Pandora app that keeps crashing

The first thing we have to do is to try to see if this is a very simple problem caused by some minor glitches in the system or the app itself. If it won’t be fixed using the first solution, then we’ll try to use the solutions that we’ve been using to address similar issues in the past. And with all that being said, follow these steps to troubleshoot your phone…

First Solution: Reboot your phone as it might be a glitch

It is one of the most effective solutions yet very easy and safe to do. But aside from turning your phone off and back on, there’s more to this method that meets the eye. Actually, a reboot does a lot of things in the background like refresh your phone’s memory, close third-party apps running in the background, reload core services and functions, etc. These are among the reasons why if you encounter problems even with the phone as powerful as the Note 8, you have to reboot your phone before doing anything else.

If the normal reboot doesn’t fix the problem, try doing the Forced Reboot; press and hold the Volume Down button and the Power key at the same time for 10 seconds or more. It simulates battery disconnect and often fixes a lot of issues with the firmware or those that are caused by apps. However, if the app still crashes after this, then move on to the next solution.

Second Solution: Reset Pandora by clearing its cache and data

This will bring the app back to its default settings or a configuration that works. When an app crashes, it’s logical to think that the problem is with the app only and that’s the first thing you have to assume if a reboot can’t fix the problem. Deleting the cache and data of the apps often has positive effects on the performance of the app and your phone. Here’s how you do it:

  1. From a Home screen, touch and swipe up or down to display all apps.
  2. From a Home screen, navigate: Settings > Apps.
  3. Tap App Manager.
  4. Locate then tap Pandora.
  5. Tap Storage.
  6. Tap CLEAR CACHE.
  7. Tap Cached data.
  8. Tap CLEAR.

After this, open the app to see if it still closes on its own or shows up the error. You have to log in to your account to sync the phone with Pandora servers. However, if the problem remains, then try the next procedure.

Third Solution: Uninstall Pandora and then reinstall it

After the second solution and the problem continues to bug you, then it’s more than just a minor app-related problem. This time, instead of updating it, it would be better if you uninstalled Pandora to remove all its associations with other apps and the firmware. It would also delete all the files it created as well as those that were created by the system for it. Here’s how you uninstall Pandora from your Note 8:

  1. From a Home screen, touch and swipe up or down to display all apps.
  2. From a Home screen, navigate: Settings > Apps.
  3. Tap App Manager.
  4. Locate then tap Pandora.
  5. Tap UNINSTALL.
  6. Review the notification then tap OK to confirm.
  7. Reboot your phone to refresh it’s memory and other connections.

After the reboot, you have to reinstall the app and observe if the problem continues. Reinstalling the app will always give you the latest version and that might be the solution to the problem especially if it’s just a compatibility issue:

  1. From a Home screen, touch and swipe up or down to display all apps.
  2. Tap Play Store.
  3. Type ‘pandora’ in the search box.
  4. Select Pandora then tap Install.
  5. To continue, review the required app permissions then tap Accept.

The first three solutions would be enough to fix the problem. However, if by any chance the issue continues after you’ve reinstalled it, then you have no other choice but to resort to a reset.

Last Resort: Backup your files and data and do the Master Reset

A master reset will surely fix this problem however, you have to make sure you make a backup of your important files and data as they will be deleted. Also, after the backup, remove your google account from your phone so that you won’t be locked out of your device after the reset…

  1. Back up data on the internal memory. If you have signed into a Google account on the device, you have activated Anti-theft and will need your Google credentials to finish the Master reset.
  2. Turn off the device.
  3. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key.
  4. When the green Android logo displays, release all keys (‘Installing system update’ will show for about 30 – 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
  5. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight “wipe data / factory reset.
  6. Press Power button to select.
  7. Press the Volume down key until ‘Yes — delete all user data’ is highlighted.
  8. Press Power button to select and start the master reset.
  9. When the master reset is complete, “Reboot system now” is highlighted.
  10. Press the Power key to restart the device.

If you’re having a hard time removing your Google account, follow this procedure:

  1. From the Home screen, swipe up on an empty spot to open the Apps tray.
  2. Tap Settings > Cloud and accounts.
  3. Tap Accounts.
  4. Tap Google.
  5. Tap on your Google ID email address if multiple accounts are setup. If you have multiple accounts setup, you will need to repeat these steps for each account.
  6. Tap 3 dot icon.
  7. Tap Remove account.
  8. Tap REMOVE ACCOUNT.
