Xiaomi Mi 5 Screen Is Black In Cold Weather

Problem: When I use my phone in a cold area I got a black screen but the phone still works normal and when I got in a warm area the screen start to work normal. hello, i have a Mi 5. its an awesome phone, great battery life, but it has randomly developed a problem after 3 months of purchase. The screen doesnt look like its at full resolution. I say this because you can see the pixels (small but noticeable) creating the “screen door effect” like when you go very close to a 1080p tv or monitor. i didn’t used to look like this, it was a very clean and crisp picture. It happened while the phone was on, out of the blue. I factory reset it hoping that would fix it, to no avail.  Before the rest though, the phone seemed to be slow to respond to any input. This is my first android device, i got off the sinking ship that was the windows phone platform, which i greatly enjoyed, and while im afraid its a hardware issue, im hoping this is a bug or issue with android and can be fixed in a way that i am just ignorant due to my lack of experience with the android platform. thank you for your time and help

Solution: If you have already performed a factory reset and this issue still occurs then this is most likely caused by a hardware component that is failing to work properly. The best thing that you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

Xiaomi Mi 5 Screen Freezes

Problem: Hi I have xiaomi mi 5, this is the first year of my phone, i got some issue that whenever i put my phone in pocket and when i use again the touchscreen is freeze, or sometime when in heat level then i lock the screen that cause same problem. The only thing that work is fingerprint, volume up & down, home button. Already do factory reset and the problem still there. Please help me to fix this phone

Solution: A factory reset will usually fix this particular problem if it is caused by some form of software glitch. Since the problem still occurs after the reset then it’s very likely that this is caused by a hardware component that is failing to work properly. The best thing that you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

Xiaomi Mi 5 Touchscreen Occasionally Freezes

Problem: Hello! I hope you’re able to find the time to help me on my phone’s problem. The problem began occurring about 2-3 weeks ago. My phone’s touch screen would occasionally freeze. I would then have to force restart to be able to use it again, only to have it happen once more a few minutes later. I fear that constantly forcing my device to restart would do the hardware more damage, if any initially. I’ve tried to use the touch screen without the screen protector as well, but to no avail. I only bought this phone about a year ago and only recently has such a problem arose. Is it a hardware problem? Do I need to replace the digitizer? Or am I out of luck and in need of a new phone?

Related Problem: Every time I go to use my phone , the touchscreen doesn’t always work. I have had problems with opening apps, sometimes they immediately shut down, including messaging and phone. A toolbar on the right side of the screen shows up without my even touching the phone.  I am not sure how to resolve this issue and wonder if you have a suggestion.

Solution: The best way to troubleshoot this problem is to first check if it is caused by a software glitch by following the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. When the phone operates in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. If the issue does not occur in this mode then it is most likely caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then this is most likely caused by a faulty hardware component in which case you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
