This is the latest flagship phone of the South Korean giant that is loaded with some of the best features available on a smartphone. It has the same waterproofing, dustproofing, and microSD card slot feature of its predecessor yet improves on this further by using a more powerful hardware architecture. Although this is a solid performing phone there are instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy S8 will not stay connected to Wi-Fi issue & other related problems.

S8 Will Not Stay Connected To Wi-Fi

Problem: My Samsung Galaxy s8 will not stay connected to my WiFi.  It will connect and then disconnect in a few seconds.  One day it stayed connected all day and then the next day it was back to the same problem.  I “forgot” my router and turned it off and turned my phone off and restarted both, re-entered the password and it still didn’t work.  Numerous times.  My computer and other phones work on my router, my phone works on other WiFi routers.  I don’t know if it’s a router problem or a phone problem.  Thank you.

Solution: If your phone is only having issues with connecting to this particular router then the first thing you need to do is to check if the router has any settings that might be blocking your phone from connecting to its. Once this is done you should proceed with the steps listed below.

  • Forget the Wi-Fi connection from your phone then connect to its again.
  • Check if the issue occurs when the phone is started in Safe Mode. If it doesn’t occur in this mode then is could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S8 Screen Flickers

Problem: Hi i have a samsung s8 i’ve had it for 8 months everything working fine up until a few days ago… when text messaging the screen keeping flicking in and out of messages, using the camera the screen keeps flickering black then back to the picture same with using the internet it flickers..phone has all updates done i have done hard and soft reboots only thing left is factory reset.

Solution: I’d recommend that you backup your phone data then do  factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone yet. Try checking first if the issue still occurs. If it does then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S8 Not Fast Charging

Problem: Same with the other S8 users’ fast charging problem. I recently noticed that when I plug in my phone using the original charger and cable, Fast Charging won’t take effect, instead it always changes to Cable Charging, which is a tad slower than Fast Charging. I did all the steps that I found in this forum – Clear Device Cache, Total Reboot, and even cleaned my ports, but nothing worked so I thought it must be my charger that’s got the problem. Well just as I’ve had my glass screen replaced (today), my friend from the Samsung center also replaced my battery and gave me a new pair of Fast charger and cable. But when I plugged it in just a few minutes before I contacted you, the same problem still occurs. I am 100% sure now that it is not my phone nor its accessories’ problem. Please help me.

Solution: Several other owners of this phone are also experiencing this issue which happened after a security patch was released. I recommend that you update your phone software to the latest version as this will have the fix for this particular problem. I also recommend that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset in case your phone is already running on the latest update but still having this problem.

S8 Calls Are Garbled

Problem: I am experiencing garbled calls, verizon tried to say it was the lifeproof case, I took that off and yet while we were speaking he was garbled to me. He claims to hear me clearly. .I have had 4 calls today and each were garbled to me, no case and not on speaker. Two of those calls were without the headset plugged in, and two were, still garbled

Related Problem: So when I make a phone call, I can not hear the other end ringing or the other person on the other end unless I am on speaker. It even happens with an incoming phone call. Can’t hear anyone unless I have it on speaker.

Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone yet. Try checking first if the calls are still garbled. If they are then try going to a different area then check if the issue occurs. This way you will be able to determine if the problem is network related. In case the issue occurs wherever you are then this might already be a hardware related problem in which case you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S8 Not Charging

Problem: I have a Samsung Galaxy S8.  It’s been the perfect phone for me since June.  Yesterday I was traveling and didn’t charge it as soon as I got home.  It drained all the way to zero.  At first I had the charging circle with the lightening bolt, but when I looked over a few minutes later, that was gone.  Upon inspection, I didn’t have the blue light, either.  I let it charge overnight and this morning, when I hold the power down, I get a few quick flashes of light from the screen but that’s it.  I tried to do all of your suggestions to no avail.  My thought was I should remove the battery physically, but I am reluctant to on this model.  I think, sadly, I will be one of those people lining up at the verizon  store.  Any other suggestions?

Solution: For this problem the first thing that you need to do is to remove the microSD card of the phone first. Once this is done perform a simulated battery pull by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. Your phone should restart after this. If it doesn’t then proceed with the steps listed below.

  • Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris stuck in this port.
  • Charge the phone for at least 20 minutes using a wall charger.
  • If the phone does not charge then try using a different charging cord and wall charger. You should also try charging the phone from a computer USB port.
  • Turn on the phone.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this could already be a hardware related problem.

S8 Slow Charging Error

Problem: Hello, I’m really worried I have an s8 that I have recently bought the problem, it is taking forever to charge. estimated charging time 5 hours when it has 20% battery and it takes even more in reality. there is a notification appearing saying slow charging: connect the phone with the charger provided. but it is already charging on the device provided for charging. When I first bought it it took 1 hours 40 minutes to charge at 100%

Solution: Try cleaning the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air then use a different charging cord and wall charger to charge the phone.
