The #Samsung #Galaxy #S8+ is the bigger version of the S8 phone. This device sports a 6.2 inch Super AMOLED display with an 18.5:9 aspect ratio. Because of its larger size the phone is also able to accomodate a much larger 3500 mAh battery. Aside from this the phone shares a similar hardware architecture to that of the S8. Although this is a solid performing phone there are instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy S8+ overheats when connected to charger issue and other related problems.

S8+ Overheats When Connected To Charger
Problem: I’m having issues when I connect factory charger to my phone. Instead of charging it shuts down my phone, and stops charging. I pick up my phone and it will be off and have only 27% charge although it has been connected to charger for hours. The first time it happened, the charging port and tip of charger was so hot it burned my fingers but phone was off and not charging.
Solution: If your phone overheats and turns off when connecting it to the charger then it’s likely that there is a short circuit that occurs. The best thing to do in this case is to try using a different charging cord and wall charger to charge the phone. In case the issue still occurs then you should clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air making sure that any dirt or debris stuck in the port is removed. Once this is done try charging the phone again. If this does not fix the problem then you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
S8+ Will Not Turn On
Problem: Hey, my S8+ won’t turn on. It’s more than likely because of a pop-up ad — I got a pretty typical pop-up ad that vibrated my phone. Whenever I’ve gotten these ads in the past, they caused my phone’s battery to start draining rapidly until I simply turned the phone off. I did a normal restart on my phone after getting this most recent pop-up and then just left my phone alone for two hours, but when I tried to use it next, it shortly froze and the screen turned off. The back button and the app-viewing button were still lit up, so I figured my phone was still on. I tried to reboot the phone by holding down both the power button and volume down buttons, but this only caused my phone to turn off, or so I figure it did because the back button and app-viewing button’s lights turned off. However, my phone now won’t turn back on regardless of what I try. It won’t even respond in any way to having its battery charged. Am I going to have to take my phone to be repaired somewhere? Thanks for the help.
Solution: What you will want to do first in this case is to make sure that the battery of the phone has sufficient charge by following the troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air.
- Charge the phone for at least 20 minutes using a wall charger. In case the phone does not charge then try using a different charging cord and wall charger. You should also try charging the phone from a computer USB port.
- Remove the microSD card ( if you have one installed) then turn on the phone by pressing the power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. You will see a maintenance boot , from here choose the normal boot option.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
S8+ Battery Drains Fast
Problem: I use a Samsung S8+ , bought on the advice of a friend. Good phone with the exception of a strange battery drain problem which is unrelated to any running apps. Simply, it loses battery power even when the phone is shut down with no activity at all. Overnight it will lose 50% of power in 10 hours. When powered up again the Settings > Battery screen show, as you would expect, no activity, and yet the battery will have lost power, as described. What could possibly be the cause?
Solution: The best way to proceed in this case is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. If your phone has a microSD card installed then remove it. Do not install any apps in your phone after performing the reset. What you should do first is to check if the issue still occurs. If it does then this is already a hardware related problem possibly caused by a faulty battery. You will need to have this checked at a service center.
