S7 Edge Text Messages Are Not Sent

Problem: Hi, I bought my Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge about two ago and over the passed year and a half I have had trouble with text messaging. Over the course of 2017 I have been sending out text messages that don’t actually go through. I send out a text and see it post in the message box and when I return to that contact, the message is gone. Sometimes the messages go through and sometimes they do not. At the end of 2017 ALL of the messages that never originally went through were sent out at once. It drained my battery and confused my contacts. Since then I haven’t had too much trouble until most recently, where I have been unable to send out and receive texts through normal text messaging. I have resorted to FB messenger and Whatsapp to connect with my contacts. I have tried soft resetting my phone several times. Sometimes it helps and sometimes it doesn’t. I would rather not do a factory reset, and I am looking to see what all of my options are. Please help. Thank you

Solution: The first thing that you need to do in this particular case is to make sure that the phone is running on the latest software update. Once this is done try clearing the cache and data of the text messaging app from the application manager first. This allows you to check if the problem is caused by a glitch in the app.  If the problem still occurs then proceed with the steps listed below.

  • Start the phone in Safe Mode then check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then the problem could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Try wiping the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.

In case the problem still persists then you will have to consider doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing a factory reset.

S7 Edge Cannot Send A Text Message

Problem: I have an unlocked Galaxy S7 Edge and am using Straight Talk and Verizon towers. I have had the phone for 5 weeks and have had to call customer service 4 times and sit on hold for 2 hours while they contact Verizon on my behalf. That is 8 hours of being on hold in just over a month. Anyways the issue I am having along with apparently thousands and thousands of others is that I can not send a sms when the issue randomly appears. I can however add a subject line and convert it to a mms and it goes right through. I search and search including your pages for a solution and not a single one has one. I’ve tried everything but a factory reset, which is next on my list, but that is a very last resort.

Solution: What you will want to do in this case is to first make sure that the phone has the correct message center number. You should contact Straight Talk regarding the correct setting that they are using.

Make sure that the phone has a good signal from the towers. You should also try setting the network mode of the phone to LTE/WCDMA/GSM (auto connect).

Once you have confirmed that you have the correct message center number then the next step is to clear the cache and data of the text messaging app. This will delete the temporary data of the app which  could be causing the problem. Immediately check if the issue occurs once this is done.

In case the problem persists then proceed with the steps listed below.

  • Check if an app you installed is causing the problem by starting the phone in Safe Mode. If the issue does not occur then the problem could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is adn uninstall it.
  • Try wiping the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will have to consider doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

S7 Edge Not Sending Text Message To One Number

Problem: My S7 Edge will send text and make calls to everyone in my contact list EXCEPT IT WILL NOT SEND MESSAGES TO ONE CERTAIN NUMBER. This same number it will make calls to without issues. As soon as I send the message I immediately get the (Failed !) Error. I’ve turn phone off, quick reset, Even deleted the number and re added it and it still makes call to him but will not send a message.

Solution: Try deleting the message thread of the particular contact from your phone then clear the cache and data of the messaging app from the application manager. If you are still unable to send a text message to this particular contact then proceed with the steps listed below.

  • Make sure to check that the phone number of the contact is correct.
  • Check if the issue occurs when the phone is started in Safe Mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset. As soon as the reset is complete immediately check if the issue still occurs.
