S7 Edge Screen Flickering After Getting Wet
Problem: Hi. I recently used my phone with wet hands, then later put in into my completely wet shorts. Later that evening, the screen started flickering, then turned black. Restarting didn’t solve the issue. I left it in rice for 2 days then tried restarting it. The logo flashes and goes off again, the phone plays the startup sound and the led light comes on. I can feel the phone vibrate when I touch the screen to enter my password. So the screen works well but I just does turn on.
Solution: Although this phone has a waterproof and dustproof feature there are instances when water can enter the device if the rubber seals of the phone have been compromised. You did the best thing to do in this scenario by placing the phone in a bag of rice for at least 2 days as the rice will absorb the moisture inside the phone. Since the screen still does not work then you can perform the additional troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air.
- Charge the phone for at least 20 minutes using a wall charger.
- Turn on the phone by pressing and holding the power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. Your phone should restart after this.
In case the issue persists then the phone is most likely water damaged. You can verify this by checking the liquid damage indicator of the phone which is located inside the SIM tray slot. If it has a pink or red color then the phone has suffered from water damage. You will have to bring this to a service center and have it checked.
S7 Edge Screen Not Working After Drop
Problem: I recently had a cheap screen repair done on my S7 Edge. A week later the screen broke again and it was dropped. This time, the small crack was just above the home button and there was a blank screen. When you press the start button it vibrates and the led light pulses the soft buttons on either side of the home button illuminate but not intensely.
Solution: It’s very likely that the problem is caused by a damaged display. You can however troubleshoot if the issue is caused by a software glitch by following the troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure to remove any dirt or debris stuck in this port.
- Charge the phone for at least 20 minutes using a wall charger. If the phone does not charge then you should try using a different charging cord and wall charger. You should also try to check if the phone can charge from a computer USB port.
- Turn on the phone by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. Your phone should restart after this.
In case the problem persists then you will have to bring the phone to a service center. It’s very likely that you will have to replace the display assembly again.
S7 Edge Screen Flickers Green When Waking Up
Problem: This question is for an s7 edge. The screen flickers green when waking up, sometimes all green. After pressing power button several times to turn on and off the display it will go back to normal. Once it’s normal everything works fine until the screen is turned off. Since the display is capable of working fine and this glitch only happens after the initial wake of the screen I was wondering if this could be a loose connector between the display and the phone and hopefully not an entirely defective screen?
Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to check if the problem is caused by a software glitch by following the troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Start the phone in Safe Mode then check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
- Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset,
If the issue still occurs even after performing the steps listed above then this is most likely caused by a faulty display assembly. You will need to have this checked at a service center.
S7 Edge Screen Replacement Not Accepting Touch Input
Problem: Today I had the local repair shop remove the touch screen and digitizer from my GS7 so I could replace the charging port. I successfully replaced the charging port, but the lights to the left and right of the home button will not turn on (I am willing to live with this) and the touch screen will not register any input from me. The screen turns on just fine and has a crystal clear picture (as always), I just can’t put in my password. Its acting as though I’m not touching the screen at all.
Solution: You need to check the connection of the display assembly to the motherboard and make sure that it is secured properly. If it is then the problem could be caused by a faulty display assembly. You should have this checked at a service center.
