S6 Retrieving Data When Phone Is Off
Problem: I recently got a new phone, but I have some information on my old Samsung that I want to get, but my the Samsung galaxy s6 won’t turn on at all. I’ve done all the steps, the volume down and power button, volume up and power, etc.
Solution: You won’t be able to retrieve any data stored in the phone is it if off. What you will want to do right now is to make sure that the phone turns on first by following the troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air.
- Charge the phone for at least 20 minutes using its wall charger. If the phone does not charge then try using a different charging cord and wall charger. You should also try charging the phone from a computer USB port.
- Turn on the phone by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds.
Once the phone turns on you will now be able to retrieve the data stored in it.
In case the phone does not turn on then you will need to have this checked at a service center.
S6 Only Charges If Phone Is Off
Problem: Won’t charge while the phones on, only charges while phone is turned off. Port isn’t loose, plugged it in last night, woke up and it only charged 20% in 8 hours.
Solution: The first thing that you should do is to clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. You should try using a different charging cord and wall charger to charge your phone. In case the phone still only charges when it is off then this is most likely caused by an internal component that is failing to work properly possibly the power IC. The best thing that you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
S6 Not Charging From Wired Charger
Problem: Phone is not charging via usb charger I noticed a strange electrical smell before it stopped charging . I will charge with a Samsung wireless charger. It shows its charging but it’s not.
Solution: The electrical smell could be caused by a shorted component in the phone. What you should do in this case is to clean the charging port using a can of compressed air then try using a different charging cord and wall charger to charge the phone. In case the issue still persists then you should bring this to a service center and have it checked.
S6 Is Unresponsive
Problem: The screen froze and the music started skipping, the phone then turned black with the buttons still lit up. After attempting to manual restart the phone became unresponsive and will not
Solution: Try connecting the phone to its charger first then let it charge for at least 20 minutes. Disconnect the phone from the charger then press and hold both the power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. Your phone should restart after this. If the issue persists then this is most likely a hardware related problem already in which case you will need to have this checked at a service center.
