S6 Edge Software Will Not Update
Problem: phone said it needed to update then wouldn’t let me update says phone needs service but it had service so it ended up updating then it turned green with the android picture and screen said thank you for updating then powered down samsung symbol popped up all apps were missing apps aren’t working then screen turned grey and white stripes and wont go into recovery mode to reset
Related Problem: Bought a refurbished samsung s6 edge but couldn’t update the software both manually and automatically. Getting the response registration failed whenever I click on Manual update
Solution: There are several reasons why an Android smartphone will not get any software updates which we have listed below.
- The phone has been rooted.
- The phone is running on a custom software.
- The knox counter has been tripped.
- This is an unlocked device running on a different network.
In order to get the update you need to make sure that the phone is not affected by the factors listed above. If your phone is running on a different network then try placing a SIM card of its original network as this will usually allow you to update the phone.
In case the phone is not rooted or running on a custom software and it’s not getting any updates then follow the troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
- Connect the phone to a computer with Smart switch installed then let the software update your phone.
If the above steps fails to work then you should consider manually flashing the software update using Odin. You can get the update file from the Sammobile website which is also where you will be able to get the instructions on how to flash your phone.
S6 Edge Boot Loop After Software Update
Problem: Hello, i have a S6 edge international version which has a boot loop issue .the problem started after the software update , i have tried all the procedures you mentioned it worked halfway but the issue is still persisting .i had rooted the phone to stock firmware (an updated one) .i tried to disable unnecessary apps ,tried the safe mode it restarted in the safe mode . it heats up and drains all the battery by itself ,if go to a service center they say you should replace the motherboard which costs a lot (I can buy a new phone with that ).i still think its a simple file somewhere gone haywire.I have updated the phone to the latest android version from the phone itself .i am able to use the phone till i give it some intensive work ,after which it heats up …(i keep it in the freezer to cool down,it comes back to normal again.) the boot loop has a timing ,each time the issue worsens i hard reset the phone which i think resets the time on the boot loop time bomb , sometimes i can use the phone till 3-4 days. please help !!!i am not sure if i should use a custom firmware, and is there any way to reset the motherboard or bios of the phone or at least update it ??or something else i can do??
Solution: Unfortunately in this case this looks like a hardware related problem already. Try bringing your phone to a service center that specializes in component level repairs as the problem could be caused by a single component only that can be replaced without you spending a lot of money.
S6 Edge Samsung Apps Will Not Update
Problem: Samsung Apps will not update. I spoke with ATT who had no clue after trying everything else he wanted me to set back to factory which I did not do. Instead I contacted Samsung who accessed my phone and it checked out. Samsung has no idea why my phone update their apps. We checked storage, my internet connection, turned wifi off nothing worked
Solution: For this particular problem you should try wiping the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode. Once this is done check if the Samsung apps have updates available. You should do this from the Google Play Store.
In case the issue persists then its either there are no updates available yet or the issue is caused by a software glitch in which case you will need to do a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data first if you will do the reset.
