J7 Intermittently Not Turning On

Problem: HI, I have a J7 – the screen was replaced and now will intermittently not turn on.  You have to press the power button about 30 -50 times repeatedly before it’ll finally come on.  There is no link to battery charge as it can happen at any charge.  The blue/red power light flickers, and sometime the screen flashes, but it is like you have to press the button repeatedly to power it up sufficiently to come on fully.  I took it to a repair guy, he refused to open the phone and said sounds like a motherboard issue, as samsung screens only have 1 wire so not a loose wire.  Any help would be gratefully received!!

Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to check if the problem is caused by some software glitch by following the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Remove the microSD card of the phone if you have one installed.
  • Start the phone in Safe Mode then check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then the problem could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • In case the issue occurs in Safe Mode then you will have to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone yet. Check first if the issue still occurs.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then this is most likely caused by a faulty hardware component. The best thing to do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

J7 Freezes Then Shuts Off

Problem: Phone has a history of freezing and shutting off, regardless of battery percentage. Sometimes it restarts automatically, sometimes I have to wait anywhere from a few minutes to a day to turn it back on. There are about 3 different ways it may freeze before it turns off. This time, it turned off nearly four days ago and was unresponsive since to charging, or any other method. I believe I tried every trick offered and received no results at all. Should I still have hope?

Related Problem: My phone was working perfectly last night and I had it on charge. When I woke this morning the phone was on but would not respond. Power button would not turn phone off so I pressed volume down and bushy button together with the power button and the screen went black. Now it won’t turn on or even indicate that the battery is charging. I tried troubleshooting as listed in all the steps above with no luck. Help please!!

Solution: Before doing the troubleshooting steps below you should remove the microSD card of the phone is you have one installed.

  • Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air.
  • Charge the phone for at least 20 minutes using its wall charger.
  • If the phone does not charge then try using a different charging cord and wall charger. You should also check if the phone can charge from a computer USB port.
  • Turn on the phone by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons.
  • If the phone turns on then backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If the issue remains then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this could already be caused by a faulty hardware component.
