HTC U11 Does Not Boot After Android Oreo Update
Problem: Hello Good day, I have a Pre Production HTC U11. During the Oreo update for us Testers the phone is not booting up. as I press the power button it vibrates but not booting to home screen. it stays only on a black screen. I tried your tutorial how to fix this but nothings happened and if i plugged it in on a charger. i got a blinking battery icon with lightning sign inside the batt. it keeps on blinking and i think it is not charging anymore. I tried to connect it to my PC. fastboot recognize the device. but if i tried to command it to reboot to recovery, no luck. it stays only on the black screen. I hope you can help me with this. thanks in advance and have a nice day
Solution: There have been several reports of pre-production models getting bricked after the Oreo update. While it’s best to contact HTC regarding this matter since you are a beta tester you can do some troubleshooting for this particular problem which we have listed below.
- Make sure that the battery of the phone has sufficient charge. Connect the phone to its wall charger and let it charge for at least 20 minutes.
- If the phone has a microSD card then remove it before performing a simulate battery pull. This is done by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 15 seconds. Your phone should restart after this.
- Try checking if you can access the recovery mode then from here perform a factory reset. Take note that this will erase your phone data.
If the issue persists then you need to contact HTC regarding this matter as they might have pushed a buggy software version to your phone.
HTC U11 Restarts When Connected To Charger
Problem: I have HTC U11 all upgraded to the newest software and all apps updated .. sometimes when I plug it on the charger the phone restarts by itself and I’m asked to type my pattern to encrypt my phone .. Can I somehow fix that cause its causing me a lot of problems cause I’m unreachable at that period of time when this happened .. thanks
Solution: This issue is usually caused whenever a short circuit occurs. To fix this try cleaning the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air then use a different charging cord and wall charger to charge the phone. If the issue persists then you should have this checked at a service center.
HTC U11 Starts In Recovery Mode
Problem: Hi I am having problems with my U11. I had purchased it back in 2017 and have never experienced any problems until now. My phone did an update somewhere in January this year and I noticed that after a few days the phone started freezing and turning off on its own. That’s when I decided to find a fix for it and ran into an app called wake lock. It worked perfectly but noticed whenever I turned the phone off and put it to charge the phone would not charge at all. The only for it to charge was to leave the phone on and also run the wake lock app. I haven’t turned the phone off for 1 whole week until Friday night. The next day (which was February Saturday 17 2018.)I tried turning the phone on and it wouldn’t turn on at all so I tired a battery pull which helped it turn on but when turning on it only opens up to “Recovery Booting” and whether I press “Reboot Now” or any other setting the phone is working for a bit and then it goes black. I try turning it on again and it will not turn back on unless I do a battery pull. Any suggestions or ways I could fix my phone?
Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to start the phone in recovery mode then from here do a factory reset. Take note that this reset will erase your phone data.
If the issue still persists then you will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
