If you’ve ever tried to take a picture that captures the span of something vast, whether the Western countryside or your annual Christmas party selfie, then chances are you’re familiar with the panoramic frustration that comes on when that shot just doesn’t turn out the way you’d hoped. And even if you’re just trying to take a typical shot or single-frame video, cameras just aren’t made for capturing your memories that are on the adventurous side. Thankfully, with these two cameras we’re going to show you today, you’ll see just how capturing all your memories is being revolutionized.
Samsung Gear 360 vs GoPro Hero 5
The name says it all with this fantastic camera: it’s a hero. It takes great shots, captures voice with amazing clarity (more on that later), and perhaps most amazing of all, it’s durable and built to last. Whether you’re skiing the chilly slopes, hiking through the Appalachians, or touring New York City, the GoPro Hero 5 has your back. Oh, and did I mention that there’s no need to ask a stranger to take a photo for you?
With the voice recognition built into the GoPro Hero 5, there’s no need for you to learn the ropes of which pesky buttons will pave the way for the best shot. Instead, taking photos is as simple as saying, “GoPro take a picture,” even with the roaring wind at your back. If you want to take a video, or a burst (30 bursted shots), the GoPro Hero 5 will adjust accordingly, listening for your command, so you’ll never have to miss another memory.

Samsung Gear 360
The Samsung Gear 360 is not exactly apples and oranges with the GoPro 6, but it does offer a new take on capturing important moments. The Samsung Gear 360 is basically a little camera that packs a whole lot of punch. With this camera, you’ll be able to take panoramic photos like you never have before, so you can kiss the familiar disappointment goodbye. Whether you’re trying to squeeze the entire family into a shot, or you simply don’t want to miss a thing, this camera may be the one for you.
A couple of other things we want to mention about the Samsung Gear 360 are the photo quality and practical design. This spherical camera will take stunning 4K photos, which is fantastic for obvious reasons. The compact design also allows you to carry this little guy around in your pocket, and pull it out as necessary. There’s no tripod to have your nephew help carry into the house, so you can say goodbye to bulky photo equipment.

One of the biggest differences between GoPro’s Hero 5 and Samsung’s Gear 360 is how they’re operated. While the GoPro Hero 5 can be used hands-free if necessary, the Gear 360 is going to need the press of some kind of button.
Another difference between these two cameras is the availability across platforms. While both are compatible with some Apple products and some Android products, they still have a ways to go in compatibility, so you’ll need to do some research before buying to make sure you’ll be able to successfully use either product.
And then, there’s always the pricing. The GoPro Hero 5 Black is going to range anywhere from $200 – $300 currently, where the amazon price for Samsung’s Gear 360 is about $160 right now. As you can see, there’s not a huge difference in price, but a camera is also an investment, which may be something you want to keep in mind.
Which one is right for you?
In deciding on which of these two cameras will suit your needs best, you’ll need to ask yourself what you’re looking for most in this camera. Are you looking for something to mirror and stand up to the industriousness of your adventures? Or are you looking for something a tad on the simpler side, perhaps to capture all your memories at home and on occasion, away from home? It really depends on what exactly you’re hoping to get out of your new camera.
Whatever camera you decide on, we hope it exceeds where life takes you, and captures every fun moment you don’t want to miss.
Have you tried either of these cameras? What is your opinion on it?
