Although this is a solid performing phone there are instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. S7 Edge process.com.android.phone Has Stopped

Problem: I just bought this phone and moved my sim card over from my old phone. I know it’s not a carrier issue because I could do it with my old phone.. When I text non-phone numbers, for example I’d text my city’s translink number (33333) the bus stop number and it’s supposed to reply the next bus arrival times. Or texting WIN to a radio station number (104104) for contests. But now on this phone, when i text those, it says: “The process com.android.phone has stopped” and crashes the app. I tried downloading Textra as a messaging app instead of the stock app, and it still has the problem. From googling my issue, it may be my “allow premium sms” settings, but when I go into permissions for both Message Services and Messages app, there is nothing in the menu for that. Also, when I go settings-apps-special access, “use premium sms” is there, but when I go in there, there is nothing in the list, and nowhere to select “allow” or anything.

Solution: It appears that this problem is caused by a software glitch. To troubleshoot this problem try starting the phone first in Safe Mode. When the phone operates in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. If the problem does not occur in this mode then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it. In case the issue still occurs in Safe Mode then proceed with the steps listed below.

  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode. Check if the issue still occurs.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

When you do a reset the issue will most likely disappear. When you send a text message from the first time to a premium number a pop up will appear asking for permission. Make sure to choose the always allow option.

S7 Edge Takes Too Long To Download Group Text Messages

Problem: Samsung s7 edge, issue with downloading group messages. Messages download and then stop for 15 minutes. Once 15 minutes has passed, messages automatically download. During the 15 minutes, i can send messages to people individually.

Solution: The first thing that you need to do in this particular case is to make sure that your phone has a strong and stable mobile data signal. Group messages usually work on a mobile data connection which is why this is the first thing that you should check.

In case the phone has a strong and stable mobile data signal then proceed with the additional troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Try clearing the cache and data of the text messaging app. This will allow you to check if the problem is caused by a glitch in the app itself.
  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. When the phone operates in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. If the issue does not occur in this mode then the problem could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should consider doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

S7 Edge Can’t Send MMS When Wi-Fi Is On

Problem: Hello, I recently switched this phone from sprint to consumer cellular/AT&T. I can send and receive SMS. I CANNOT send or receive MMS unless wifi is turned off. When I turn off wifi, MMS works fine. When I turn wifi on, I get a “sending failed” message when trying to send a MMS, and it just keeps saying “downloading” when I try to receive a MMS.

Solution: Since you shifted from Sprint to Consumer Cellular you need to verify the APN settings of your phone first and make sure that it is correctly set for Consumer Cellular.

  • Username: Not Required
  • Password: Not Required
  • Server: Not Required

If it is properly set and the issue still occurs then I recommend that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install apps in your phone yet. Try checking first if the issue still occurs.

S7 Edge TouchWiz Easy Home Not Working

Problem: I have been getting the Touchwiz easy home not responding error for a few days on my phone, it would freeze my phone for 20-30 mins then start up again. Since yesterday I have not been able to access my phone and when I do I get the error and it freezes even longer. I have since did a hard reset however it is still not working. Please help! Thank you

Solution: The first thing that you need to do in this particular case is to make sure that your phone is running on the latest software update. Once this is done try clearing the cache and data of the TouchWiz app from the application manager. Check if the issue still occurs once this is done. I recommend taking out the microSD card of your phone if you have one installed when doing this.

In case the issue persists you should backup your phone data then do a factory reset from the recovery mode.

S7 Edge Screen Went Black

Problem: I have a weird issue with my Samsung S7 Edge. It was working perfectly for over a year till today. I noticed it was lagging so i turned it off. After 5 minutes i turned it on and then the password screen froze. I tried doing finger scan and then screen went black. It is still black and the touch buttons on either side of the home button are lit. No button or screen taps work. I tried resetting by power volume down / up keys and it doesn’t work. I have now removed the sim and then trying to reboot and still nothing. Any help would be appreciated please.

Solution: To troubleshoot this problem remove the microSD card of the phone first if you have one installed. Once this is done perform a simulated battery pull by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. Your phone should restart after this. In case it doesn’t then proceed with the following troubleshooting steps.

  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Start the phone in recovery mode then do a factory reset. Take note that this will erase your phone data.

If the above steps fails to work then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S7 Edge Will Not Turn On

Problem: I tried everything on your blog, still it won’t turned on. It happened before and had it check by a technician. He just did a reformat but still from time to time it turns off and restart on its own. Only at times when I am connecting to a wifi it will restart on its own. I am used to that because it happens all the time. But tonight again it won’t turned on no matter what I pressed.

Solution: What you will want to do in this case is to first make sure that the battery of the phone has sufficient charge. To do this you need to clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air making sure that any dirt or debris stuck in the port is removed. Once this is done charge the phone for at least 20 minutes using a wall charger. If you don’t see any charging indicator then try using a different charging cord and wall charger. You should also check if the phone can charge from a computer USB port. Once the phone has charged make sure that the phone does not have a microSD card installed before turning it on.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S7 Edge Cracked Screen Is Flickering

Problem: The screen is a little cracked in the top left but the screen just keeps flickering. How do I know if it is a cracked screen problem or something else?

Solution: The quickest way is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. If after the reset the screen still flickers then this is most likely caused by the cracked screen.
