S6 Will Not Turn On Or Charge After Software Update
Problem: Galaxy S6…..Have never had issue with phone or any update. Usually leave a Month after update released so bugs get ironed out first. Stupidly did the Dec 2017 one 3 days ago and now phone will not charge or start up. have used alternative cables and power sources all to no avail. Symptoms are that forcing a soft reset will get the phone to where it requires pin for Sim card and then dies with the low battery beeps – not surprisingly given that it has suddenly not been charging for 3 days. Seems the only way forward is to roll back to the previous state before update but not sure how to proceed. Could you advise on way forward please or remedy to this well aired issue by several peeps now please? What is Samsung doing do you know?
Solution: Since you won’t be able to roll back the phone software unless the phone turns on then the first thing you will need to do is to make sure that the battery has sufficient charge. To do this clean the charging port of the phone first using can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris stuck in it is removed. Perform a simulated battery pull by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. Once this is done charge the phone using a wall charger for at least 20 minutes. If the phone does not charge then try using a different charging cord and wall charger. You should also check if the phone can charge from a computer USB port. If the phone will charge then try turning it on.
In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then it’s very likely that this is caused by a faulty hardware component. If this is the case then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
S6 Turns Off When Plugged To Charger
Problem: when i plug in the phone to charge it, it shuts off, as in plugging in the power cord is making the phone turn off. it does not turn off if power cord is not plugged in. I have tried three cords, all do it. thank you i do not know the android version, i don’t change anything on my phone, so i guess whatever the most basic up to date is.
Solution: It looks like a short circuit is happening when the phone is connected to a charger. To troubleshoot this problem try cleaning the charging port using a can of compressed air then use a different charging cord and wall charger when charging the phone. If it still shuts off then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
S6 Apps Closing Unexpectedly
Problem: I have a Samsung S6. It’s second hand but has been working perfectly until recently. Apps have started to close unexpectedly and windows like messages and phone contacts also close unexpectedly. I have tried clearing the cache partition and a hard reset factory reset but the problems keep persisting. Could it be a virus or software issue?
Solution: I recommend that you first update your phone to the latest software version. Once this is done backup your phone data then do a factory reset from the recovery mode. After the reset has completed do not install any apps in your phone yet. Try checking first if the issue still occurs. If it does then you should consider flashing your phone with its updated stock firmware file. You can get this file from the Sammobile website which is also where you can get the instructions on how to flash your phone.
S6 Not Charging Not Turning On
Problem: My galaxy S6 randomly went into the maintenance boot mode. I tried to guide it to just restart the device but it was completely frozen and I was unable to do anything with it. It died and i then put it on our samsung wireless charger to charge. The led light on the charger would turn a light blue/white (when it should be a darker blue for charging) and the battery screen would come up on the phone, but it never actually charged the phone, it is still at 0% and i cannot turn it on at all. I know it isn’t the charger since it charges my phone with no issue. (And i honestly have no clue which android version my phone is. I could not send this without putting a version in, so to be clear: the version i’ve selected probably isn’t the correct one.) I’m not sure where to go from here, please help!
Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris stuck in it is removed. Once this is done perform the troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Simulate a battery pull by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds.
- Charge the phone for at least 20 minutes using a wall charger.
- If it doesn’t charge then try using a different charging cord and wall charger. You should also check if the phone can charge from a computer USB port.
- Turn on the phone.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then this is most likely caused by a faulty hardware component. You will need to have this checked at a service center.
S6 Keeps Turning On And Off
Problem: My Samsung Galaxy S6 continues to turn on and off by itself, even after factory reset. I have wiped the cache partition and performed a data/factory reset. Prior to doing these steps the phone was rebooting itself about every 5 to 10 minutes. After performing the factory reset it is doing it about once an hour. I’m looking for answers on what could be causing this and what can I do to prevent the phone from doing this and restoring it back to normal.
Solution: Since you have already performed a factory reset and the issue still persists then this is most likely caused by a faulty hardware component ( this is of course if you haven’t installed any apps after the reset and the issue still persists). The best way to address this problem is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
S6 Black Screen with Blue Lines
Problem: So my daughter has a Samsung S6, now everything works on her phone the light turns on and make sound seeking people can call your phone and everything but the screen will not work. And then we turn into one has blue lines across the screen how do we fix this? Also T-Mobile wants to charge us a75 $ just for the phone insurance and I really don’t want to pay that because it’s older phone in the black screen just stopped working and then there’s blue lines on it.
Solution: If the phone is working but the screen is black then it’s very likely that the display of the phone is damaged. To further check if this is the case you can try starting the phone in recovery mode. If the screen works in this mode then the problem could be caused by a software glitch. You will need to do a factory reset from here to fix the problem. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data. If the screen does not work in recovery mode then I suggest that you have the display checked at a service center. It’s very likely that you will need to have the display assembly of your phone replaced.
S6 Restarts When Connecting To Wi-Fi
Problem: I have had my galaxy s6 for several years now and I have just started having a reboot problem within the last 3 months. It’s seems to restart itself when I try and connect to a new Wi-Fi network. It will pause momentarily, then restart and seem to be perfectly ok with the network I am trying to log into. Thoughts? Thank you.
Solution: This problem started right after a recent software update was pushed to the phone. A lot of people who are also experiencing this issue fixed the problem by doing a factory reset. If you do reset your phone make sure that you backup your phone data first.
