S6 Slow Charging After Software Update

Problem: I have a Samsung galaxy s6. It has needed an update for a while so I eventually done it on Saturday morning. Since Saturday afternoon it has been temperamental charging. My charger port is broke so I use my wireless charger pad. My phone will say it is charging but isn’t, it can be on charge and the battery will go down. I put it on charge at 5% on the night and woke up to it on 7%. It is taking hours sometimes to even gain 20% battery. Also the same day I done the update another update came up. Is my phone fixable or shall I just get a new phone?

Solution: The first thing that you will need to do in this case is to eliminate the wireless charger as a possible factor that is causing this problem.  To do this you will have to follow the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Replace the charging cord connecting the wireless charging pad to the wall charger with a new one. Check if the issue still occurs.
  • Try using a different wall charger. Make sure that the charger has an output of at least 2.0A.
  • Make sure that the phone does not have a case installed when you charge it.
  • Try using a different wireless charging pad.

In case the above steps fail to fix the problem then you should check if a software glitch is causing this issue by doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.

Should the issue persist at this point then you will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Overheats When Charging

Problem: Hi, I have a Galaxy s6 that has a crazy over heating issue when in charge.. it doesn’t show any sign of life and no light or vibration. The digitizer has a crack in it so screen might not even turn on but I have tried connecting it to a pc to see if it gets recognised but nothing also tried recovery mode and running Odin to see if it might pick it up but nothing.. any thoughts?? I wouldn’t mind attempting a board level repair on it if I have to but not sure on the best method in Component diagnostics to figure out if it a power IC or a short so I thought I’d ask for some guidance. Thank you in advance.

Solution: Since this is most likely a hardware related problem already the best way to proceed is to clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air then charge the phone for at least 20 minutes. Check if it still overheats before turning on the phone.

If the issue persists then the problem could be caused by several factors including but not limited to the the following.

  • Faulty battery
  • Defective power IC.
  • Other internal component that is not working properly.

To pinpoint the exact cause of this problem the best thing to do is to have the phone checked at a service center.

S6 Black Spot On Camera Pictures

Problem: Hello. I’ll make this as clear as possible. Whenever I use my phone camera to take a picture, there appears to be a light black smudge mark bear the top center of the picture. When I zoom in, the spot moves along with the image and can be zoomed in on, so as if the spot is ON the camera lens and is not as a result of any scratches or marks on the outside of the lens. The only thing I remember happening was dropping my phone on a table from like a 6in drop. Now the spot is there and my phone has been through worse drops and worked fine before. Is this a lens problem that I should go and get fixed or is the lens cleanable from the inside? My phone has never had this issue before and I’ve had this phone for about a year and a half now. Everything around the spot is clear as a normal picture except for one transparent spot. Also, should the actual photo lens be moving and clicking whenever I turn my phone in different directions? I thought an actual eyeball was looking around in my phone when I notice it moving slightly. Hope this is helpful for help in return! Thanks.

Solution: What you will want to do in this case is to wipe the camera lens with a microfiber cloth making sure that any dirt is removed. Check if the issue still occurs. If it does then the next step is to check if this is caused by a software glitch. I recommend that you backup your phone data and do a factory reset for this one.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then this is most likely a hardware related issue already. You need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked so that it can be fixed.

S6 Call Can’t Be Heard Via Bluetooth Connection With Car

Problem: My Galaxy s6 will connect via bluetooth to my Ford Sync, I can play music from my phone, and my messages and phonebook sync. I can place calls and receive calls through sync, however once I place or accept a call, no audio comes through. The phone is connected and the phone shows it is on bluetooth, the sync shows it is connected to the call, but I cannot hear anything and no one can hear me. Is there a solution to this? I have tried everything and nothing works. I believe it is my phone because the same issue was happening in my explorer and in my new vehicle.

Solution: Try disabling the OK Google listening feature of the phone as this seems to be causing the problem as observed by other people experiencing the same issue.

In case the issue persists then I suggest you perform the following steps listed below.

  • Remove the Bluetooth link from your phone then connect to the car again. Check if the issue still occurs.
  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. If the problem does not occur in this mode then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S6 Switches Off Randomly

Problem: I have multiple issues with my phone. its power related and hardware and software therefore OS and App related. Things I have done to improve the issues, cache partition clean, soft reboot, factory reset. aside those I have cleared app cache and data. Disabled chrome as this conflicted with android webview . So for four days now it kept freezing, shutting off suddenly, became unresponsive, for eg keyboard or just froze for no reason and or restarting itself but not coming back on for 2/3 hours.  currently it’s not crashing as often as it did before it was one after the other, it is still constantly doing so at the moment. To restart phone I press power and down or power /up/ menu buttons or leave it and it take anything from seconds to a few hours to start up. so to list issues now left!

  1. screen inactivity timer doesn’t work so doesn’t switch phone screen off therefore phone doesn’t lock however it will do these if I press the power button. I have checked the timing of the screen and set it.
  2. phone still switches off suddenly at random , eg switches off with a white light and turns on again.

second example switches off with a pulsating blue light, then with blue light and Samsung logo pulsating it stays there for hour or so then turns on however on the odd chance it may turn back on immediately but this is very rare

  1. phone / screen freezes whilst in use and then switches off and may come back on again see above.
  2. today this happened, whilst on a phone call. the phone cut off when I looked at the screen I saw a cloud shape then the phone went back to normal , I then noticed an app was missing, like it uninstalled itself. this was odd . I reinstalled it.
  3. the phone has been showing a dm verity error, which I have not addressed yet as this can be complex. I know it’s something to do with odin os flash etc
  4. I keep getting pop up messages constantly and all of which mention something as stopped perhaps one or two say error but all stopped..for eg touchwiz has stopped, virtual keyboard has stopped, google services has stopped, facebook has stopped, Firefox has stopped, messenger has stopped, settings has stopped, Samsung cloud not sync but that took one attempt and it fine now, badgeprovider has stopped, I think you get the general gist of this. I’m at my wits end and ready to throw this phone at a wall, despite clearing each app chase or data etc, they keep popping back up..so pls pls help before I turn to the dark side and buy and apple phone.

Solution: The best thing that you can do right now since the phone is experiencing multiple issues is to backup the phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in the phone just yet. Try checking first if any of the issues still occur.

If the issues persist then this is most likely a hardware related problem already in which case you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
