S6 Battery Drain After Nougat Update

Problem: Galaxy s6 major battery drain issue since nougat update and patches I eventually gave in and did a factory reset this solved the 20% ph drain but now my issue is when playing a game my battery will drain from say 42% to 16% and drains fast but as soon as I plug my charger in my battery jumps back to 42%! When checking my battery usage the drop does show on the chart but on the game usage only states 1%, I have tried safe mode but still the same. Any idea? Thanks

Solution: Try checking if any of your apps need updating. You can do this by opening the Google Play Store and going to the My Apps section. Make sure to update any apps that have available updates. Once this is done proceed with starting the phone in recovery mode then wipe its cache partition. Try to check if the issue still occurs after this. If it does then you need to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. After the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone just yet. Try checking if the same issue occurs. If it doesn’t then the game you were playing might be causing the problem. If however the problem still occurs then your phone might need a new battery. I recommend that you have this checked at a service center.

S6 Not Turning On Unless Plugged To Charger

Problem: My Galaxy s6 won’t turn on unless it’s plugged in I’ve tried all the tips that were listed and I have yet to receive any results . I’ve reset it multiple times and it still doesn’t work when it’s unplugged it’s completely unresponsive . Please help me

Related Problem: Yesterday, I dropped my galaxy s6 and it will not turn on unless it’s hooked up to a charger. When i unplug it, it turns off. Is there a way to fix this? Did i screw up the battery by dropping it? I’ve dropped it many times and never had this problem. Thanks in advance

Solution: If the phone does not turn on unless it is plugged to its charger then there’s a possibility that the battery or the power IC of the phone is faulty. Before bringing the phone to a service center for checking make sure to perform the following troubleshooting steps listed below which is aimed at determining if the phone software is causing the problem.

  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S6 Constant Reboot Loop

Problem: My phone is in a constant reboot loop, I have tried all of the above. I need to get my photos off it so I can do a factory reset. Are there any other options or steps? It won’t even stay on long enough to get the photos off.

Solution: Try connecting the phone to its charger then start the device in Safe Mode. If you are able to access this mode then you will be able to backup your photos. Since it is very likely that if you disconnect the charger the phone will reboot again you will need to use a cloud storage solution to backup your photos. Try to use Google Photos.

Once you have made a backup of your photos the troubleshooting steps that you need to perform are as follows.

  • Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S6 Not Charging With Original Samsung Charger

Problem: Hi! I recently started using a USB generic cable with my Samsung fast charger ( I had misplaced the original samsung USB cable). I then bought a whole new charger (with USB cable) from Samsung because the generic cable meant it was not fast charging. Now, my phone will not charge with the new Samsung charger or any Samsung charger at all. It will only charge with the generic USB cable. The battery charges very slow and I don’t understand why it will not charge with an original Samsung charger.

Solution: What you will want to do first in this case is to make sure that the charging port of the phone is free from any dirt or debris. Clean this port using a can of compressed air. Once this is done try charging the phone again with the Samsung cord and charger. If the issue remains then try using a different Samung cord as the cord that you have might be faulty.

You should also consider doing a factory reset on your phone to eliminate any possible software glitches that could be causing this problem. Make sure to backup your phone data first before doing the reset.

Should the above steps fail to fix the problem you will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Shuts Off Then Restarts After Getting Wet

Problem: I dropped my phone in the toilet. I got it out right away and powered it down. I dried of any excess water and put it in rice for 2 days. I did not know them that the battery could be removed. When I plug it in it shows the gray lightning bolt and then shows that it is 90% charged. It will turn on and the touch screen works but after 30 to 60 seconds the phone will shut off or restart. I am not positive what version it is, but it was current with updates as of 3 weeks ago.

Solution: You did the right thing by placing the phone in a bag of rice for 2 days since the rice will absorb the moisture inside the phone. However, since you are experiencing issues on the device then it is very likely that some component has become water damaged. You can check if it is indeed the contact with water that is causing this problem by checking the liquid damage indicator sticker of the phone which is located inside the SIM slot ( you will need to remove the SIM tray to view this). If the sticker is pink or red then the phone has suffered from water damage. The best thing that you can do right now is to bring this to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Not Turning On Not Charging

Problem: My galaxy s6 won’t turn on or charge when plugged in the screen comes  on showing the battery image but the green lights aren’t ascending . I tried the forced reboot it flickered but still no charging what do I do

Solution: What you will want to do right now is to make sure that the battery of the phone has sufficient charge. To do this you have to perform the following troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris stuck in this port is removed.
  • Perform a simulated battery pull by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. Try to check if the phone restarts.
  • Connect the phone to a charger and let it charge for at least 20 minutes.
  • If the phone does not charge then ty using a different charging cord and wall charger.
  • Try to check if the phone charges from a computer USB port. If it does then the phone might have a faulty charging port in which case you will need to have this checked at a service center.

Once the phone charges try to turn it on.

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then this could already be a hardware related issue possibly caused by a faulty battery or power IC. The best thing that you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Not Turning On After Drop

Problem: Hi, I dropped my phone when I was at the store but didn’t check to see if it was okay because it usually works as the phone case protects it. I checked about 5 minutes after it fell and it wasn’t turning on. Asked my mother to call to see if it had died but it didn’t go straight to voicemail. I plugged it into a charger but when the power battery shows up, it disappears after a couple of seconds and keeps on showing like its a glitch.

Solution: What you need to do right now is to perform a simulated battery pull. This is done by pressing and holding both power and volume down button for at least 10 seconds. Normally, your phone should restart after this. If it doesn’t then try charging your phone for at least 20 minutes using a different charging cord and wall charger. You should also try to charge the phone from a computer USB port.

If the above steps fails to work then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
