Note 4 Not Turning On After Update Installation
Problem: What a great forum that you have here. I have been able to resolve some issues from this forum. I have a Samsung Galaxy note 4 that has had nothing but issues since the Marshmallow update. My work around was installing “wake lock” to keep the phone from rebooting and not waking up. Last night an update showed up, which I assumed will correct their issues. The phone went to restart and now I cannot get it to come back on. Do you have any suggestions?
Solution: The first thing you should do in this case is to remove the battery and the microSD card ( if you have one installed). Once this is done press and hold the power button for at least a minute. This will discharge the phone circuit and clear out its RAM. Once this is done reinsert just the battery then see if the phone turns on. If it doesn’t then perform the troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Charge your phone first for at least 20 minutes. If the phone does not charge then try inserting another battery.
- Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
- Start the phone in recovery mode then do a factory reset. Take note that this will erase your phone data.
- Try flashing your phone with its updated firmware file.
If the above steps fail to fix the problem then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

Solution: It looks like you have already exhausted all troubleshooting steps that could be done on your end. Unfortunately it looks like the phone has already a bad eMMC chip. The best way to proceed in this case is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
Note 4 Phone Log Defaults To All Logs
Problem: Phone log default setting is “All Logs” resulting in logs including text messages. Even if I set the filter to “All Calls” after a few phone operations it always reset to the default of “All Logs”. The change about a year ago, at that time log defaulted to call information only. Don’t recall what the default filter was at that time. Now it contains calls and SMS messages as well. App: Samsung Log Converter (downloaded from the Play Store) was suppose to help with the problem but it doesn’t help. I’m considering removing it
Solution: It looks like this issue is caused by some form of software glitch. Try wiping the cache partition of your phone first from the recovery mode. If the issue still persists then I suggest you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
Note 4 Not Updating To Marshmallow
Problem: The only problem I have ever that my Samsung galaxy note 4 won’t update to marshmallow, I mean is the phone an obsolete phone? Or can it be done cause it says that it’s already updated to 5.01 lollipop..
Solution: There are several conditions that your phone must meet in order for it to get software updates which are listed below.
- If you are using an unlocked phone that was previously locked to a certain carrier then the phone needs to be running on its original network in order to access the update servers.
- Your phone should not be rooted.
- Your phone should be running on its stock firmware.
If your phone meets the conditions listed above then try to perform the troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
- Try to use Kies to update your phone.
If the phone still doesn’t get any updates then you should manually flash the updated firmware file to your phone. You can get the firmware file from the Sammobile website. Instructions on how to flash your phone are also provided in the website listed.
Note 4 Randomly Restarts After Software Update
Problem: Updated my note 4 Friday March 10, 2017, since then the following problems have occurred; 1. Device randomly restarts 2. Device will not download nor update any apps 3. Camera freezes/glitches until message stating that – “camera is not responding select wait, or close.” 4. Keypad glitches/freezes while typing sometimes for 3-5 seconds.
Solution: It’s possible that the problems that you are experiencing with your phone is caused by old software data that has not been completely removed. To fix this you should backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
Note 4 Unable To Login to Apps
Problem: I’m unable to login to some apps in my new phone. I’m receiving pop-up’s saying, “Oops! Invalid login credentials. Email: invalid login” Then, I’ll click forgot password, enter my email address, and receive this pop-up; “Oops! Invalid customer.” I have no problem signing into these accounts on my computer. Please help!
Solution: What particular apps are you having a problem with? Try uninstalling the affected apps and install a fresh version from the Google Play Store. You should also check if the issue occurs when your phone is connected to a different Wi-Fi network to eliminate connection related problems.
Other troubleshooting steps to consider are listed below.
- Make sure that the time and date settings of your phone are correct.
- Start the phone in Safe Mode. Does the issue occur in this mode? If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
