Samsung Galaxy S7 Not Fully Charging Issue & Other Related Problems

Although this phone is a solid performer there are instances when certain issues can occur which we will be addressing today. In this latest installment of our troubleshooting series we will tackle the Galaxy S7 not fully charging issue & other related problems.

S7 Not Fully Charging

Problem: I just bought my S7, a brand new device. I was charging it before I start using it. However, it has been a day already, and it still shows only charged 81% (from 76%). I switched outlet, USB cable, turn it on and off, etc. It’s still showing 81% only. Can you please help?

Solution: What you will want to do first in this case is to clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air as sometimes dirt or debris stuck in the port can interfere with the charging process. Once this is done try charging your phone using a different charging cord and wall charger. This way you will be able to check if the charger is causing the problem.

In case the issue still occurs then the next step is to charge the phone while it is started in Safe Mode. If your phone fully charges in this mode then the problem could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

If the battery still does not fully charge even in Safe Mode then you should backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete immediately check if you can fully charge your phone.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this could already be a hardware related issue.

S7 Won’t Connect To Wi-Fi

Problem: Won’t connect to wifi anymore. Just up and stopped. Tries and won’t do it. What’s next step after factory reset?

Solution: If you already tried connecting your phone to different Wi-Fi networks and even performed a factory reset which doesn’t fix the problem then there’s a possibility that the Wi-Fi chip of the phone is faulty. I recommend that you have this checked at a service center.

S7 No Sound On Videos

Problem: My Samsung Galaxy S7 died and when I turned it back on, videos were not outputting sound. This happens quite often, and it stays like this for a while and then it randomly fixes itself. The period could be around 6 hours to a couple of weeks. Can you help?

Solution: Are your video file stored in the microSD card? If they are then try moving them to the internal storage of the phone as the problem could be caused by a corrupted microSD card.

There’s also a possibility that the problem is caused by a software glitch. To check if this is the case you should follow the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Start the phone in Safe Mode then check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then the problem could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Try wiping the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

S7 Only Plays Sound On One Earphone

Problem: My Samsung S7 is only playing music out of one earphone.  When I try to play music without the earphones the music is really quite and when talking on the phone the person on the other end is very quite as well.  Also, when I try to plug my phone into the Aux jack, it cracks and only plays out of on side of the car.  

Solution: What you will want to do first in this case is to try to use a different earphone on your phone to check if the current earphone you are using is causing the problem. If the issue persists then try cleaning the audio port of the phone using a can of compressed air or toothpick.

You also need to backup your phone data then do a factory reset to check if the problem is caused by a software glitch.

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this could already be a hardware related issue.

S7 Can’t Send Or Receive MMS

Problem: Hello i have a samsung galaxy s7 that was on verizon and put my telstra sim in internet didn’t work so got telstra to fix problem took back to solve mms problem but they said they couldn’t do anything Kind regards

Solution: There are two requirements that you phone must satisfy in order for it to be able to send and receive an MMS. The first requirement is that you should have an active mobile data subscription. Since your mobile data is already working then the second requirement is that your phone should have the correct APN settings. For Telstra you will need two APN settings which we have listed below.

First Setting

S7 Camera Failed Error

Problem: Front camera will not work. Camera is stuck in selfie mode and displays camera failed warning. Camera does not work in snapchat, imo, or any other video chats. I can see the caller but they can’t see me. Please advise!!

Solution: What you will want to do first in this case is to clear the cache and data of the camera app as this might just be caused by corrupt temporary data within the app itself. If the problem still occurs then follow the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. If the camera works in this mode then the problem could be caused by an app you downloaded. You will then need to find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Try wiping the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode. Check if the issue still occurs.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Check if the issue still occurs.

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as the issue could be caused by a defective camera module.

S7 No Notification Tone When Receiving Text Messages

Problem: Hi I have a new Samsung S7 phone and when I receive messages I can’t hear the notification default sound. I have tried everything turned all the volume up as high as it will go All the volume is up in advanced settings and still can’t hear when I receive a message

Solution: You should check if the notification setting of the messaging app is turned on. Tap on Apps then Messages then tap on More ( the three dots on the upper right side). Tap on Settings then go to Notifications and make sure that it is turned on. In case it is on then try choosing a different notification tone.

If the issue persists then check if tite occurs when the phone is started in Safe Mode. If you don’t experience the problem in this mode then it could be caused by a downloaded app. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.

Should the above steps fail to fix the problem then you will need to perform a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.
