S7 Screen Is Black With Notifications Working
Problem: Hello! I have a samsung galaxy s7, and it works perfectly. It boots up okay, everything works normally except the screen is black. I get notifications and all that, but the screen is black. This has happened twice before… The first time it took like a week or two for the screen to work without me doing anything, but the second time it started working again after an hour or so.. but now it’s been about 2 days and nothing. Please help? Thank you!
Related Problem: dropped my phone. screen is black with a solid blue light on the top left hand side. tried to do a soft reboot but phone did not respond. trying to release battery. not sure how to do this. please advise. i am overseas and cannot seek out assistance.
Solution: The best way to troubleshoot this problem is to start the phone in recovery mode. If the screen works in this mode then the problem is most likely caused by a software glitch. You should perform a factory reset in this mode to fix the problem. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.
In case the screen does not work in recovery mode then this is most likely a hardware related problem already possibly caused by a damaged display. You will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked if this is the case.
S7 No Sound Notification When Receiving Text From One Number
Problem: Just yesterday I went into my texts & noticed the no sound icon next to one of my friends texts :mute:. I checked the volume of my phone, checked the settings in my texting app & all were sound on. I have no trouble receiving sound notifications from other contacts when they text, but all of his messages now no longer make a sound and I’m not sure how to fix it. I even went into the contact itself but don’t see anything that could fix this. I DO get the little number next to the envelope when he texts to show a new message, but just no sound. Please help!
Solution: You might have accidentally muted the conversation of the contact. What you will want to do in this case is to open the message thread of your friend then click on the down arrow beside their phone number on the top left side. If the selector is grey then it is muter, just tap on the switch to turn back on the notification.
S7 Edge Screen Takes Too Long To Turn On From Sleep
Problem: Hi! I recently installed the Nougat update and I noticed two issues, when I push the power or home button after my phone has been on standby for a while it takes up to five seconds for the screen to turn on, and I occasionally receive text messages long after the other person sent them even when I have strong cell signal, the longest delay I’ve experienced thus far has been four hours. I have restarted my phone multiple times and the problems still occur. Thanks for the help!!
Solution: It’s likely that this problem is caused by a software glitch. Follow the troubleshooting steps listed below to fix this problem.
- Try to check if an app you recently installed is causing the problem by starting the phone in Safe Mode. When operating in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. If the issue does not occur in this mode then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app thi is and uninstall it.
- Try wiping the cache partition of your phone from the recover mode. Restart the phone after this then check if the issue still occurs.
In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then you need to perform a factory reset as it looks like the issue is caused by old software fata that has not been completely removed during the update process. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.
S7 Can’t Download Update
Problem: My S7 security update is stuck on Sep 2016 and when I try software download there is an error message stating to contact customer service or to connect through smart switch which I am unable to do
Solution: Your phone might not meet some of the conditions required to get the software update which is why this error is happening. The conditions are as follows.
- The phone must not be rooted.
- The phone must not be running on a custom software.
- If you had this phone unlocked then it should be running on its original network.
The best way to update your phone right now is to use Smart Switch. It’s best to backup your phone data then do a factory reset before connecting the phone to Smart Switch.
In case this fails then you should consider manually flashing the updated firmware file to your phone using Odin.
S7 Not Charging Due To Moisture Detected
Problem: My s6 is refusing to charge, saying there is moisture but I have dried it out, restarted my phone. I dried the charger and the insert socket for the charger. I don’t know what to do!?! I have not had it near any liquid. I am very careful after I dropped my last phone in water. Any advice would be greatly appreciated to qboid my dad murdering me.
Solution: What you will want to do in this case is to make sure that the charging port is dry. You can use a vacuum or a hair dryer to remove any moisture in this port. Once the port is dry you should try charging the phone using a different charging cord and wall charger. If the issue persists then the next step is to check if a software glitch is causing the problem by doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.
In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
