J7 Heats Up Doesn’t Turn On Issue
Problem: Good day! My concern regarding with the phone is that it had just heat-up and then when I started to reboot it just stuck on the logo then after a week of rebooting it, it had just not turned on. I had tried the download mode key but it doesn’t work. The battery is good because I tested it already. My phone never gets over charged and definitely hasn’t been drained before. The initial symptoms before the shutdown because it lags often (I don’t have a lot of applications and storage, in fact it has still 700mb available for apps). I tried to ask for the repair man here in town but they said they’ll opening up the phone (in which I have a fear of they might steal some pieces). It’s really important for me to recover the phone because it has a sentimental value to me. If you had ever encounter with the same diagnosis, I hope you can share it with me and give me the most practical and best advise.
Solution: You won’t be able to do any troubleshooting unless the phone will turn on this is why the first thing that you need to do is to make sure that the battery has sufficient charge. Follow the troubleshooting steps listed below to charge your phone.
- Clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris stuck in the port is removed.
- Try charging your phone for at least 20 minutes.
- If there is no charging indicator then try using a different charging cord and wall charger.
- If the phone does not charge then try replacing the battery with a new one. You can do this if you have the 2016 model. If you own the 2017 model then the battery is non-user removable in which case you will have to let a technician do.
If the phone charges then try turning on the phone. You should also try turning it on in Safe Mode. You will be able to backup your phone data from here.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will need to have this fixed at a service center.
J7 Intermittent Charging After Getting Wet
Problem: Hi, I got this link online when trying to check how I can fix my phone. I went on an island hopping and brought my phone. I put it inside a zip lock. it rained hard and waves were bigger than what I expected. When I checked my phone, it was wet. Not entirely, but drops of water perhaps. Charging port was kinda affected. When I tried charging it, it was still fine for almost a week. Lately, like two days ago, I notice that when I charge it, it is not steady. I mean intermittent. it charges, after a second, it’s not then charges again without doing anything. Tried using another device. Did power cycle and removed battery while it was turned on still having the same issue. It still charges but takes several hours to be fully charged.
Solution: What you will want to do first in this case is to make sure that the charging port of the phone is free from any dirt or debris. Use a can of compressed air to clean the port. Once this is done try using a different charging cord and wall charger to charge the phone. In case the issue persists then try using a new battery on your phone ( this can be done if your model has a removable battery). In case you are unable to replace the battery this time then proceed with a factory reset to check if a software glitch is causing the problem. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
J7 Screen Is Black But Notifications Still Working
Problem: bought the phone brand new about 2 months ago. everything was working fine until a week ago. I was online browsing when the phone screen just faded to black. the phone never had any fall or water damage. i did a battery pull, hold all the possible button combinations i found online nothing seems to work. the screen wouldn’t come back on. if i connect it to pc or a charger there is a very very dim backlight that would fade away shortly after. the phone still rings and vibrates for calls and messages, and when it’s being turned on.
Solution: What you will want to do first in this case is connect the phone to a computer with Smart Switch installed then backup your phone data using the software. Once this is done start the phone in recovery mode. Does the screen work in this mode? If it does then you will have to perform a factory reset as the problem could be caused by a software glitch. In case the screen is still black even in recovery mode then we might be looking at a faulty display issue. The best thing to do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
J7 Screen Dims Down
Problem: While I’m using the phone it dims down (part of the timeout process I think), I have the timeout set to five minutes, but while I’m looking at it that shouldn’t matter. figured it had a bad sensor took it back they gave me another phone but it does the same thing, at the store they said it was probably a setting so I should contact samsung. Figured I would check with u first.
Solution: If the screen of your phone goes dim in a short period of time then the first thing you should do is to check the screen timeout setting of your phone. Try changing it manually to 15 seconds then to 5 minutes. Once this is done check if the screen indeed times out at 5 minutes.
In case the screen dims out in a shorter period of time then this could be caused by a software glitch. I suggest you perform a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.
J7 Stuck In Samsung Logo
Problem: So my phone was at 5% and shutted down . i put it on charge then turned it on …now when i have it turned on it vibrated once and again then it shows the samsung logo and then my lock screen ..this keeps going on.. Vibrates once. vibrates twice…samsung logo.. lockscreen
Solution: Does the issue occur when the phone is connected to its charger? I it doesn’t then this could be caused by a faulty battery. Try getting a new battery for your phone. In case the issue occurs even with the phone connected to its charger then you will have to check if a software glitch is the culprit by doing a factory reset from the recovery mode. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.
Should the above steps fail to fix the problem then you will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
