S6 Not Turning On Unless Plugged To Charger

Problem: Good day, this morning my samsung s6 device switched of all of a sudden and i can not switch it back on unless it is plugged  to the charger. when it is plugged to the charger it switches on and is charging till 91% only after couple hours while still plugged to the charger i see it changing battery levels going from 80% to 60% then up to 70% and after 2 min it back down to 50% all while still plugged to the charger. i recently sent my device for fixing as the screen was cracked they have replaced the screen and i have bought a new screen protector to put over and a back cover which has glitter in it that moves around. about 3 days ago i noticed that the glitter from back cover has stopped moving around when i removed the cover i found a little bit of thick liquid against the back screen of the device, not completely wet . i am not sure if this is the cause of the device acting up or is it something else. please help  thank you

Solution: The liquid that the phone has is most likely from the back cover and its purpose is to make the glitter move around. If this happens to get inside the phone then it’s possible that it could affect the way some components work thus resulting in various issues which could also include the one the phone is experiencing right now.

What you need to do first in this case is to make sure that the phone is dry and free from any moisture. Turn off the phone then place it in a bag of rice for at least 48 hours. Once this is done try turning on the phone without connecting it to its charger.

If the phone does not turn on then check if it does when connected to its charger. If it turns on this way then you should backup your phone data then do a factory reset. This procedure allows you to check if a software glitch is causing the problem. After the reset do not install any app yet. What you will want to do is to check if the problem still occurs. If it does then the problem could be caused by a faulty battery or power IC in which case you will have to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Overheating

Problem: left the phone on the motorcycle for about 10-12 mins, with a usb cable hooked to the battery, with fuse. when i came back, the screen said, overheating. i quickly unplugged, put the phone out of the sunlight. after it cooled down, the screen was weird colors and then it just went black. when i hold the power key to turn off, for a while, it seems to be off but when you press the home key, the two function buttons on the bottom, left and right of the home key, light up.  it got so hot that the cover was loose, but now that it has cooled off, i can not even remove the cover.  the phone is only 4-5 months old.  help., please. thank you

Solution: There are two things that can cause this particular problem. First, leaving the phone to charge under sunlight will cause the phone to heat up. If it is a hot day then the sun could damage the device by melting the glue that holds the some components in place which is why the cover has become loose. The display could also get damaged if it is left under direct sunlight for a long period of time. Second, the output power of the motorcycle battery might be too high for the phone battery to handle. This will cause the phone battery to heat up. When the battery heats up it will develop a bulge thus pushing the back cover out.

The best thing that you can do right now is to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Accessing Data When Phone Does Not Turn On

Problem: Hi I’m clutching at straws as I have a feeling the phone is dead but I’m not giving up just yet. At 2am I was using my S6 fine, all looked fine with no noticeable issues. I went to sleep with approximately 50% battery left on it. I woke up at about 10am and the phone was completely off. I thought battery had died so put it on charge but no red light to show it’s charging. I looked on your website and tried the combination to bring it to life but nothing. I took it to the local phone shop to see if they could repair it. I’ve had it for over 2 years so it’s out of its warranty and knew samsung wouldn’t look at it Unless they charged a lot of money. The guys at the shop said they tried different things but still no life. They even removed the back to change the battery but no life and tested the motherboard but nothing. I’m not overly concerned about the phone now as I decided to upgrade but I really need the contents. Is there anyway I can bypass the phone and access the contents as there’s over 2000 family pictures, all my calendar entries for future meetings and appointments and 500+ contacts. I should have backed it up and thought I had but obviously not. Appreciate any help you guys can offer please. Thanks

Solution: You won’t be able to access the data stored in the phone unless you are able to turn on the device. Since the service center has already tried using another battery on the phone then some other component that is failing to work could be causing the problem. Try bringing the phone back to the service center and have them check the power IC of the phone. If this component is found to be defective then you should have this replaced.

S6 Not Turning On Gets Hot When Connected To Charger

Problem: Hi. My samsung galaxy s6 was working fine the other day. Got home put it on the charger it was dead. Got up the next morning it said 100% charged. Took it off the charger then now it will not turn on. I did the hold this button down hold that button down and nothing. I tried putting it back on the charger to see if anything lights up and nothing but it gets warm after being on the charger. I do not understand. It does not do anything. so why does it get warm? I need my phone. It has my whole life in it :(. My phone doesn’t do anything. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

Solution: It’s possible that a faulty battery is causing the phone to get warm when it is charging. The first thing that you will need to do in this particular case is a simulated battery pull. This is done by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. Normally, after performing this step the phone will restart.

If the phone does not restart then do the following troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air making sure that any dirt or debris stuck in the port is removed.
  • Try charging the phone for at least 20 minutes using a charging cord and charger that has been tested to work on another device. Turn on the phone.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked as this could already be a battery related problem.

S6 Will Not Turn On

Problem: Samsung Galaxy S6 will not turn on. Blue light comes on or flashes, screen is black. It is plugged in while trying these methods. NOTE: when going through the troubleshooting processes recommended (volume down, power; volume up, home, and power), phone will vibrate, can hear a one-time tone, then screen flashes light twice, but won’t come on. Prior to not being able to turn it on, for a month or so it would intermittently turn off on its own. Help!

Solution: What you should do first in this case is to make sure that the battery has sufficient charge by following the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air making sure that any dirt or debris is removed.
  • Try charging your phone for at least 20 minutes using a different charging cord that has been tested to work on another device. If the phone does not charge then try using a different wall charger.
  • Try charging your phone from a computer USB port. If the phone charges then one of the pins of the charging port could be damaged. Have this checked at a service center.

If the phone charges then you should be able to turn it on.

If the phone does not charge then this could already be caused by a faulty internal component. If this is the case then you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Stops Wirelessly Charging Before Reaching Full

Problem: I’ve been having issues with my charging port, so I thought I’d save problems and repairs by purchasing a wireless charger. The problem being, it seems that my device stops charging before reaching anywhere near complete. It will continue to charge if I take it off the charger and place it back on, but that’s not exactly plausible when you’re asleep. It’s not stopping at a particular percentage of charge; I’ve had it stop in the 30s, 50s, 60s, and 70s. I tried to research solutions myself and saw suggestions to change plugs/ cables/ etc. This doesn’t affect anything as this is occurring across two different makes of Qi wireless chargers. It also occurs whether the phone case is on or off.  I’ve also tried the solution of putting a screensaver on while the phone is charging; however, this just led to more battery drain with no apparent change in charging abilities. Do you have a solution for me? Thanks.

Solution: It’s good that you have isolated the various factors that can cause this particular problem. Since the problem still persists what you will want to do right now is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete do not install any apps in your phone yet. Try to check if the issue still occurs. If it does then you will need to bring your phone to a service center and have it checked as this could be caused by a faulty battery or some other internal component that is failing to work.
