Today we will tackle the Galaxy S6 Edge battery drains quickly after software update issue & other related problems. What happens in this case is that the phone battery seems to drain very quickly after the software update has been installed. We will take a look at this particular problem as well as the other power related issues that have been sent our way.

S6 Edge Battery Drains Quickly After Software Update

Problem: I did the Marshmallow update and not only is it draining my battery life horribly but my text messages are all grey or white, no color at all, it is horrible to look at.  What do I even need this update for?  

Solution: If you are having battery problems with the phone after a software update the first thing that you should do is to check if any of your phone apps have updates available. To do this just open the Google Play Store then go to the My Apps section. From here you will see the list of apps that needs to be updated. Update these apps accordingly. The reason why you will want to keep your phone apps updated is so that it will be compatible and work efficiently with the new software update.

Once all of your apps are updated and the battery drain issue still occurs then this could already be caused by old software data that has not been completely removed during the update process. This old data is now causing a conflict with the new software version resulting in this battery drain problem. What you should do in this case is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. This reset will also fix the grey or white color in your text messages.

S6 Edge Will Not Charge

Problem: My S6 Edge ran out of charge and when I plugged it in to charge it, it won’t charge or show the red blinking light indicator. I’ve never had any problem with it apart from the time ( about a month ago) it sank in the water for about 20 seconds but nothing major happened. It performed really well and was able to run and go about every task apart from not letting me put the background in sleep mode. Regards

Solution: It looks like this problem is caused by the phone coming into contact with water a month ago. Listed below are the recommended troubleshooting steps that you need to perform to fix this problem.

  • Clean the charging port of the phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris stuck in this port is removed.
  • Try charging the phone using a different charging cord.
  • Try charging the phone using a different wall charger.
  • Check if your phone can charge from a computer USB port. If it charges this way then one of the pins of the charging port could be damaged. Have this checked at a service center.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you need to bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Edge Randomly Restarts After Software Update

Problem: Good day,after doing the latest update on my samsung s6 edge the phone randomly restarts, i used all options ex safe mode and others and the last thing i did was the master reset and yet still my phone reboots ,can u help me please

Solution: If the phone still reboots even after a factory reset then this could either be caused a hardware issue or a problem with the update. For the hardware side you should try connecting the phone to its charger then check if the phone still reboots while it is connected. If it doesn’t reboot then there’s a chance that this could be caused by a faulty battery or power IC. I recommend that you have this checked at a service center.

There’s also the possibility that a bad update is causing this problem. To check if this is the case you will need to flash the updated firmware file of your phone using Odin. You can download the firmware file of your phone from the Sammobile website. This website will also have the instructions on how to flash your phone.

S6 Edge Says It Is Charging Wirelessly Even If It Is Not

Problem: hi I have a s6 edge and it says it charging wirelessly but I have not device like that and it wont charge off the plug charger saying 0% but charging wirelessly. can you help please. Kind Regards

Solution: What you will want to do first in this case is to check if a software glitch is causing the phone to think that it is charging wirelessly even if it is not. Backup your phone data then do a factory reset. After the reset do not install any apps in your phone yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs. If it does then perform the following troubleshooting steps listed below which are recommended for this particular issue.

  • Clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air making sure that any dirt or debris stuck in the port is removed.
  • Try using a different charging cord when charging the phone.
  • Try using a different wall charger when charging the phone.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you need to bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Edge Not Turning On After Drop

Problem: My phone fall on the floor and now just red led light is on and the phone don’t want to turn on. I try all different ways to turn it on

Solution: Try connecting the phone to its charger first and let it charge for at least 20 minutes then turn on the phone. If it doesn’t turn on then the drop might have affected some internal component of the phone. You will need to bring this to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Edge Forgotten Pattern Lock

Problem: Hello Droid Guy! My name is Becky and I am having problems with my phone with my pattern lock. This is the first time that it isn’t letting me use the pin number (which I do remember), but after this update it tells me to only use the pattern lock which I forgot since I only use the fingerprint. Could you please help me reset the pattern lock or could you tell me another way to get into my phone without using the pattern lock? I would really appreciate it!  Sincerely, Becky. P.S. Solution: To get into your phone just enter any pattern lock for a certain number of times until you will be prompted to enter the Google account that is being used by the device. Once you enter the correct username and password combination you will be able to gain access to your phone.

As soon as you gain access to your phone go to Settings then to the Lock screen & Security field. You can change the way you unlock the device from here. I recommend using your fingerprint.
