S6 Won’t Turn On When It Isn’t Plugged

Problem: I updated my Galaxy S6 to Nougat last night and now I’m having serious power issues.  I can’t turn on my device when it isn’t plugged in.  When I plug it in and turn it on, it lasts for about 30 s before crashing again.  It then reboots automatically.  I can sometimes stop the cycle by unplugging the phone once it’s crashed, then it lets me charge while turned off.  The battery says it’s around 66%.  I’m using the original samsung fast changer, but it doesn’t charge fast.  Also when I do the same process with it plugged into my computer, the first samsung screen pops up, but then dies immediately.  It then goes into the same reboot cycle.  I also tried turning it on in safe mode (plugged into the wall) but I had the same result: shutting off after 30 s. I’m guessing it’s some power issue since it lasts longer plugged into the wall than into the USB port on my computer.  I don’t know how this would be related to Nougat, but this wasn’t happening before.

Solution: The best way to check if the software update is causing this problem is to do a factory reset from the recovery mode. Take note that this will erase your phone data so if you can backup your phone data before proceeding with the reset then this would be good.

Once the reset is complete check if the issue still occurs. If it does then it’s possible that this is already caused by an internal hardware component that is failing to work ( possibly the power IC or the battery). If this is the case then you will need to bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Keeps Restarting After Installing Update

Problem: After installing an update (I am not sure which one), my phone just keeps restarting over again. Holding the power + Home + Volume Up button does nothing. I was able to go in Safe Mode but it keeps restarting still before I can do anything. The loop goes as follows:  Verizon Screen Home Screen Turns off Samsung Screen Verizon Screen, etc.

Solution: If the phone keeps on restarting after installing the software update then the best thing to do right now is a factory reset. Since it’s going to be difficult to perform the factory reset when the phone keeps on restarting what you will need to do is to start the phone in recovery mode first.

  • Make sure the  Samsung Galaxy S6 is off.
  • Boot into Galaxy S6 recovery mode by pressing and holding Volume Down, Home and Power keys at the same time.
  • Release all three buttons when Samsung Galaxy S6 screen flickers and you see a warning sign.
  • Press Volume Up to continue to the main screen of Recovery mode.
  • The phone is now in recovery mode

From here you will need to do a factory reset. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.

If doing a reset does not fix the problem then you should consider flashing your phone with its updated firmware file. Download your phone’s firmware file from the Sammobile website. You will also get instructions on how to flash your phone from this website.

S6 Turns Off With Charge Left Does Not Turn Back On

Problem: Hi. I was using my phone as usual and suddenly turned off with 31% charge left. I tried everything but the phone didn’t turn on and also when when i connected to charger, no indicator light was there and phone get hot after 30 min. What to do?

Solution: The first thing that you need to do in this particular issue is to do a battery pull. This is done by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. Your phone should restart after this. If the phone does not turn on the follow the troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris stuck in the port is removed.
  • Try charging your phone for 20 minutes using a different charging cord and wall charger.

If the issue persists then this could already be a hardware related problem in which case you will need to bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Unable To Charge

Problem: I have Samsung Galaxy S6 since last couple of days i am unable to charge it. It does charge in its own and sometimes it doesn’t charge at all. last night i had the message on screen saying need to install power sharing app. i have tried different chargers and cables, have tried hard reset and the problems is still there. it does charge on its own.

Solution: It looks like the problem is caused by an issue with the charging port of the phone. Try cleaning this port using a can of compressed air making sure that any dirt or debris stuck in the port is removed. If the issue still occurs after this then you will need to bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Samsung Logo Flashing On Screen

Problem: hey my galaxy s6 was working fine, i put it on charge and wouldn’t turn on. The screen kept on flashing the s6 logo, i assume it was trying to boot up but it wouldn’t get any further then while holding power down volume and home screen it flashed with an image saying something about an os weather i wanted to download or not i eventually chose not nothing happens but still flashing so did the same but chose to nothing happened but still flashing. it only flashes when on charge  and if not on charge nothing have tried to do factory reset but it won’t come up on screen

Solution: Try starting the phone in recovery mode and from here you will be able to do the factory reset. Take note that this reset will erase your phone data. In case the issue still occurs even after performing a reset then you should consider flashing your phone with its updated firmware file. You can download the firmware file of your phone from the Sammobile website. You will also get instructions on how to flash your phone from this website.

In case the above steps fails to fix the problem then we might be looking at a hardware related problem already. If this is the case then you need to bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Water Damaged Not Charging

Problem: Samsung Galaxy s6 has been water damaged and I have tried putting it in rice however it won’t take a charge and says the battery is overheating but doesn’t feel hot there is a lot of data on the device what we would like to retrieve but can’t get it to charge any ideas

Solution:  The only way you will be able to retrieve the data in your phone is if the phone is turned on. Since it has been water damaged then I suggest that you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

S6 Keeps On Crashing

Problem: hello, I have a Samsung s6 and it keeps crashing on everything. emails pictures etc it just shuts it off and goes back to home screen. I did have a system update the other day. I have looked at your help pages and i’ve done steps 1 and 2,. but after the safe mode the problem was still there, my question is, if I do step 3 will I loose everything I have saved on my phone? contacts etc. your help would be gratefully appreciated  thank you

Solution: If you try to wipe the cache partition of your phone then you will not lose any of your phone data as what gets deleted in this process is just the temporary system files. If however you perform a factory reset then you will lose your phone data. This is why it is best to backup your phone data before doing the reset.
