S6 Fails To Send SMS
Problem: Hi I have a Samsung galaxy S6. Like many unable to send sms’s the error message is (failed SMS) I have tried a soft reset and a hard reset. I have reset the phone to factory settings. I am able to make voice calls and I am able to receive sms’s. I have removed the sim and installed it in an iPhone from that phone I am able to send and receive sms’s Please help
Solution: If you can send text messages when the SIM is inserted to another device then the problem most likely lies with the phone. What you will want to do first is to check the message center number of your phone. Make sure that this is the same number that your network is using as this is needed to send out text messages.
- Tap Messages.
- Tap MORE.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap More settings.
- Tap Text messages.
- Tap Message centre.
If the issue still persists even if your phone has the correct message center number then proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Start the phone in Safe Mode. Check if you are able to send text messages in this mode. If you are able to then the problem could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
- If the problem still occurs even in Safe Mode then I suggest that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
S6 Will Not Send Or Receive Text Messages
Problem: My phone will not send or receive text messages. I think that it’s not connecting to a mobile network correctly, not sure why.
Solution: Does your phone have a signal? If the phone has no signal or has a weak signal then you won’t be able to send or receive text messages.
Another factor why this problem is occurring is if there is an issue with the SIM card or your account. To check if this is the case you should remove the SIM card from your phone then insert it in another device. Can you send and receive text messages? If you can’t then you need to contact your carrier regarding this as this could be a SIM or account related problem. However, if you are able to send and receive text messages then you should follow the troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Reinsert the SIM card back to your phone.
- Start the phone in Safe mode then check if the issue still occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then the problem could be caused by an app you downloaded into the phone. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
If the issue persists then you need to bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
S6 No Text Message Notifications
Problem: Not receiving any notifications when I get a text message don’t know I have one unless I open my phone and I have everything on that’s suppose to be
Related Problem: When I get a text message there is no notification for it at all. It doesn’t make a sound or vibrate. It doesn’t pop up at the top or show that there’s a new message.
Related Problem: My S6 no longer makes sound for an incoming text message. This despite there being a sound set to it, do not disturb being off, volume being up. I tried starting in Safe Mode but it still doesn’t make a sound for incoming text messages. I am unsure when it started…
Solution: The first thing that you should check in this case is the volume of the phone. Maybe it is set too low that you are unable to hear it. Make sure to max out your volume. The text message tone that you have chosen is also important in this case. Make sure to choose a tone that is loud and can be clearly heard.
Next, make sure that the notification settings of your phone are properly set.
- Open the Messages app
- Tap the Menu icon. This is the three dots on the upper right side of the app.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap the Notifications switch and make sure that it is ON
If you are still having the same issue even after performing the steps listed above then proceed with the troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Start the phone in Safe Mode then check if the issue occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
S6 Cannot Receive SMS
Problem: My Galaxy S6 Messages can send and receive mms, can receive mms BUT it cannot receive SMS. Same thing with Facebook Messenger. The problem started when I had Google Voice which can send and receive only SMS. I have played with default settings, uninstall and reinstall but no luck!
Solution: It looks like a certain app might be intercepting the incoming text messages. Try starting your phone in Safe Mode then check if you are able to receive text messages while in this mode. If you are able to do so then the problem is most likely caused by a third party app you installed ( most likely a messaging app). Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
Another thing you should check is if you have placed certain numbers in the spam list.
- Open the Messages app
- Tap on “More” in the top right corner and select Settings
- Go into Spam filter
- Tap on Manage spam numbers
- Tap on Spam Messages
If the messages are in the Spam list then you should remove the phone number from the spam list.
S6 Not Getting Text Messages Always Rebooting After Software Update
Problem: My phone got an update last night and now I cannot get text messages and my phone keeps turning on and off…so annoying! Please help!!!
Solution: Since the problem occured right after a software update then it is most likely caused by old software data that has not been completely removed during the update process. This old data usually causes a conflict with the new software version resulting in various issues such as this right now. What you need to do to fix the problem is to backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
S6 Creates Blank Text Messages
Problem: My galaxy s6 has been creating blank text messages all by itself. I will lock my phone, and then come back and unlock it and about 20-50 individual text message conversations have been created by the phone. No messages typed out, they were all blank conversations but my phone keeps doing this.
Solution: Try to check if the same issue occurs in Safe Mode. If it doesn’t then the problem could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it. If the problem still occurs even in Safe Mode then I recommend doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.
S6 One Person Not Receiving Text Message
Problem: I can send and receive text from everyone but I have 1 person I can receive from but she can’t receive from me. I even tried using my Samsung tablet she was able to get that text but not if I use my phone
Solution: If the text message that you are sending to this one person is registered as sent on your phone then the problem could be on the network side ( your carrier is not delivering the message) or the recipient’s phone is not showing that the message has been received ( if your number has been added to the spam list). What you should do in this case is to check the recipient’s phone and make sure that your number is not blocked or is not placed in the spam list.
