Note 5 Battery Drains Faster When Roaming
Problem: Hi, I am experiencing an issue with the Samsung note 5 battery draining very fast whenever I travel overseas and the phone is in roaming. After I fully charge the night before and after 7hrs it is left with around 40%. However this does not happen when I am not travelling. It only drops about 6 to 10% after I fully charge the night before. Does roaming actually drains the battery faster? Hope you can help me with this.
Solution: When your phone is in roaming mode and is not being used in its home network what generally happens is that the phone will automatically search for the best available network which your home network has an agreement with. This constant searching, disconnection and reconnection will use up a considerable amount of battery power thus you will experience your phone battery draining much faster. This battery drain occurs even when the phone is in standby mode. Some people have even experienced their phone not lasting a whole day when fully charged.
Sometimes the problem can also be caused by an app installed in your phone or a software glitch. You can check if this is the case by following the steps listed below.
- Start the phone in Safe Mode. Does the battery drain problem occur in this mode? If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you downloaded. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
- Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
There’s also a possibility that a weak battery is causing this issue especially if the battery drains very quickly. If this is the case I suggest you have your phone battery replaced at a service center.

Problem: I’ve had my phone close to 18 months now, and and let’s say I unplug it at 10am and I’m using it on and off, sometimes Uber n what not by 12pm it’s down to like maybe 75ish by 2 o’clock I’m to that emergency I need to charge it soon, any recommendations and also what is thought about the app clean master?
Solution: Your phone battery is draining quite fast. What you will need to do in this case is to check if a glitch in the phone software is causing the problem. Follow the troubleshooting steps listed below to fix this issue.
- Try to check if an app you installed is causing the problem by starting the phone in Safe Mode. When the phone is in this mode only the pre-installed apps are allowed to run. If the issue does not occur in this mode then it could be caused by an app you installed. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
- Wipe the cache partition of the phone from the recovery mode.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

Solution: If you have already performed a factory reset and the issue still occurs then we might be looking at a factory reset already. If this is the case then I recommend that you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.

Problem: hello. i dropped my phone and now it wont turn on. there is a blue LED light and when i try to press the power button and volume up button, nothing happen, except for a glitch, but then it disappear after a second. Solution: This problem could already be a hardware related issue possibly caused by a loose connection in the phone circuit or a damaged component. You should however check if a software glitch is causing this problem by following the troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Charge the phone for at least 20 minutes using its charger.
- Do a simulated battery pull by pressing and holding both power and volume down buttons for at least 10 seconds. Your phone should restart after this.
- Check if you are able to start the phone in recovery mode. If it starts this way then you should consider doing a factory reset. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.
If the above steps don’t fix the problem then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
Note 5 Randomly Connects To VR Gear
Problem: Hi I’m not sure if this service still works but I’m desperate to fix my note 5. I have a problem with the vr gear, I don’t own one but my phone connects to it at random times. The screen goes black with a small x in the corner of the screen. It has also stopped my phone from charging. I had to get a wireless charger. If I connect a USB charger, the phone remains dormant or it states that the vr gear is not connected properly. Any assistance will be appreciated.
Solution: It’s very likely that the problem is caused by an issue with the charging port of the phone. Try cleaning this port using a can of compressed air making sure that any dirt or debris stuck in the port is removed. If the issue still occurs after this then I suggest you try doing a factory reset to eliminate any software glitches that could be causing the problem. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset.
If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you need to have the charging port of the phone checked at a service center.

Problem: Hi, My Galaxy Note 5 suddenly went off when i was working with it. After I tried to turn it on, it began but stuck in “Galaxy Note 5” at the beginning. I tried to boot it on safe mode and also tried to delete the cache but they did not work. I really appreciate your help.
Solution: It’s good that you tried booting the phone in Safe Mode and also tried wiping the cache partition of the phone. Since both steps failed to fix the problem then you should try connecting the phone to its charger then check if the phone turns on. If it does then you should consider having the phone battery replaced at a service center. If this fails then you should consider doing a factory reset. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.
One last troubleshooting step to consider is to flash the phone with it updated stock firmware file. You can download the firmware file of your phone from the Sammobile website. This site will also contain the procedure to flash your phone.
Note 5 Battery Gets Drained When Charging From Car
Problem: No problems charging in my Ford, but when I plug it into the Subaru, it drains my battery. What the hell? The Subaru is my go to for long distance and my phone always needs charging not draining. Thanks for your input on this one.
Solution: The car charger port of your Subaru might not be working properly. Try using a different charging cord then check if the issue still occurs. If it does then you need to have the car charger port checked.
