Note 4 Screen Is Black After Drop

Problem: So 2 days ago I dropped my Galaxy Note 4 (it has a standard case and a screen cover originally for a GS4). I didn’t drop it from a high height and the blow to my phone wasn’t excessive, it was just a normal dropping my phone about 3 or 4 feet. Then about 30 min later I noticed what looked like purple ink appearing in the top right corner, the part that hit the ground first. The ink that began to blot out parts of the screen looks like it’s beneath the screen because it’s not spilling out onto my hands or anything. Throughout the evening that purple dye began to spread starting with the areas of the screen I touch the most. By the end of the day (5 hours later), almost the entire screen is blotted out by this purple/black dye. All the applications on my phone still work and my phone is responsive when I touch it. The only problem is the screen is blacked out and I can’t see anything on the screen. I’ve tried taking the battery out, draining the excess charge for 1 min, then 2 min but it hasn’t worked. Any suggestions?

Related Problem: I drop my note 4 and the screen turn black. I can still hear my games, messages going on. I tried the 123 method and it still doesn’t work. Please help. Thank you

Solution: This is already a hardware related problem caused by the display developing a crack due to the crack. There’s also a small possibility that this is caused by a software glitch. To check if this is the case you have to start your phone in recovery mode. If the screen works in this mode then you need to do a factory reset ( also in this mode). Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.

If the issue still occurs even when the phone is in recovery mode then the crack is causing the screen to black out. What you need to do in this particular case is to have the whole display assembly replaced at a service center.

Note 4 Screen Is Blank

Problem: My Note 4 screen is blank. It still shows the red light when charging, rings, I hear messages coming through and it still vibrates when I touch the screen. I have tried all the fix it choices but nothing has worked.

Related Problem: I put it on charge and as it started to switch on the usual Samsung Galaxy logo came on it started to glitch and run down the screen constantly, so I took my battery out, left it out for 5 minutes and the same thing happened but the writing was pink, yellow and green. Now my phone is completely black but the sounds for all my notifications work and the back and menu options still light has usual.

Solution: If the screen is blank but you still hear notifications on your phone then this could either be caused by a software glitch or a problem with the display assembly. What you need to do in this case is to start the phone in recovery mode then check if the screen works in this mode. If it does then there’s a chance that this could be a software related problem in which case you need to do a factory reset. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.

If the issue still remains even in recovery mode then chances are the display of your phone is faulty. Have this checked at a service center. If it is found out to be defective then you might need to have this replaced.

Note 4 Only Works With S Pen

Problem: I have a galaxy note 4 my screen doesn’t work it’s only work with my s pen I did drop it it have a lil crack on the screen but it still had work almost 6 months afterwards all the sudden it doesn’t work

Solution: Your phone has two digitizers that handles the capacitive input of your fingers and the S Pen input. The problem right now is that the digitizer that handles the touch input is not working. To check why this is happening you need to perform the following troubleshooting steps listed below.

  • Start the phone in Safe Mode. Check if the issue still occurs in this mode. If it doesn’t then it could be caused by an app you installed. Find out what app this is and uninstall it.
  • Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode. Check if the issue still occurs.
  • Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.

If the above steps fails to fix the problem then you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked. If it is determined that the digitizer is faulty then the whole display assembly will have to be replaced since this digitizer is fused to the display of the phone.

Note 4 S Pen Rarely Works

Problem: I just received a refurbished Note 4 as a replacement. The stylus rarely works. It does work occasionally if I press down hard on the phone. Please help. I don’t understand the choices for Android Version so I just picked one. I have no idea of that choice is correct.

Solution: Try to use another S Pen with your phone and see if the problem gets resolved. If it is still the same then the next step is to check if this is caused by a software glitch. Backup your phone data then do a factory reset. If the issue still occurs after the reset then this is most likely caused by a digitizer problem. I recommend that you have this checked at a service center.

Note 4 Screen Works When Battery Is Reinserted

Problem: phone is on but black screen i tried pressing power button i tried factory reset but when i take the battery out and put it back the phone works perfect

Solution: Were you successful in performing the factory reset? If not then I suggest you try doing it from recovery mode. Take note that this will erase your phone data so make sure to have a backup copy before proceeding. If after the reset the issue still persists then you need to bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
