Note 4 Note 4 Continuous Reboot After Software Update
Problem: April 26 in the evening I performed a software update on my galaxy note 4. I didn’t use the phone much that night, but when I got up the next morning and started using a few apps, my phone reset on its own. Then it had trouble booting back up, and continued to reboot itself all day, whether under stress or not. I tried soft resetting multiple times. I have a duracell battery in it with a warranty, which i thought may be the problem, so I got a new one and the problem persisted. After dealing with AT&T and trying to get their help on it i decided to try some things i’d done in the past. I tried safe mode, same problem. I tried connecting it to my computer for a backup, but it wouldn’t stay on long enough. I tried a reboot, but it still booted itself normally during that process as well. Then i decided to go “custom OS” route. I left it for 45 minutes to an hour and it wouldn’t finish the process, and now the phone wont turn on at all. I will be attempting the custom OS through the night, but i’m not very hopeful. What should my next move be? I’m down to the next option being buying an s8, but i’d rather not right now.
Solution: If the problem is caused by the software update then a factory reset or flashing the phone with a custom OS will usually fix the problem. Since the problem can’t be fixed by both methods then chances are this is already a hardware related issue.
You can try the following additional troubleshooting steps listed below to fix this problem.
- Check if the connection between your phone and your computer is causing the problem in flashing the device. Clean the charging port of your phone. Try using a different USB cord. Try connecting the phone to a different USB port. You should also try using a different computer.
- Try flashing the stock firmware file of your phone. Download this file from the Sammobile website.
Should the issue persist then you will need to have your phone checked at a service center.
Note 4 Will Not Update
Problem: I have been trying to update my phone to the latest upgrade and it will not install. I just replaced the note 4 before leaving the US for Canada and I am currently still living in Canada. Also, I am experiencing the same issue with my Samsung tablet
Solution: There are several conditions that your phone must first meet before it is able to get the official software update ( which in most cases will come from its original carrier).
- Your phone should not be rooted
- Your phone must not be running on a custom software
- If you had this phone unlocked then it should be running on its original network in order for it to access the update servers.
In case your phone meets the conditions listed above and it is still not getting any updates then try to backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is done check for the update again. It’s also best to use Kies or Smart Switch to update your phone.
If the above step fails to update your phone then you should consider flashing it with its updated stock firmware file. You can get the firmware file of your phone from the Sammobile website where you will also find instructions on how to flash your phone.
Note 4 Software Update Temporarily Unavailable
Problem: I just bought a used Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 4. I’m trying to update the software but keep getting “temporarily unavailable try again”. I don’t have service on the phone as I only bought it to use with Wi-Fi. How can I fix this???
Solution: Is your phone activated already and can you make calls and send text messages with it? If it is still not activated then you will need to contact Verizon regarding this matter as this is usually the reason why you will be getting the temporarily unavailable error when you try to check for a software update.
In case your phone is already active try restarting it then check for the update again. You should also try connecting your phone to a different Wi-Fi network to check if it is your current connection that is causing the problem.
If the above steps fails to work then backup your phone data then do a factory reset. After the reset try to use Kies to update your phone software.
Note 4 Continuously Freezes
Problem: Good Afternoon, I am having trouble with my Galaxy Note 4. It continuously freezes. I have taken out the battery, rebooted it, wiped out the cache, wiped out the data, etc, but to no avail. Can you please help?
Solution: Does your phone have a microSD card installed? If it does then try removing it as this could be causing the problem. You should also consider doing a factory reset if the issue still persists. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data so make sure to backup your data before doing this.
Note 4 Randomly Powers Off While Doing Update
Problem: My note 4 has been randomly powering off over and over until I take the battery out and reinstall it for a while now and during the most recent system update it did this which now has resulted in the software update in progress to be stuck. This was a few days ago now and I am trying to figure out how to stop it or restart it.
Solution: The best thing that you can do right now is to start the phone in recovery mode then wipe the cache partition of your device. Restart the phone then check if the phone works. If the issue remains then start the phone in recovery mode again then do a factory reset. Take note that the reset will erase your phone data.
Note 4 Unfortunately Bluetooth Share Has Stopped Working Error
Problem: Encountering “Unfortunately Bluetooth share has stopped working” I did soft reset and wipe cache partition but it doesn’t help. My Note 4 phone started to become laggy after marshmallow version was installed. then yesterday suddenly “Unfortunately Bluetooth share has stopped working” was encountered. please help. 🙁 i’m trying to avoid full reset but i think i’ll give it a shot if necessary… maybe u have alternate solution? thanks.
Solution: Since this issue occured right after the Marshmallow update you should check if any of your apps have available updates and update them accordingly. You can check for the updates by opening the Google Play Store then accessing the My Apps section.
If your apps are already updated and the issue persists then do the following troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Clear the cache and data of the Bluetooth app from the application manager
- Wipe the cache partition of your phone from the recovery mode.
- Backup your phone data then do a factory reset.
Note 4 Restarts When Using Apps
Problem: Note 4 restarts while using instagram. Sometimes just shuts down and restarts while I’m on whatsapp. Have gotten a new battery, even new battery is draining very fast and all doing the shutdown.
Solution: Since you have already tried using a different battery which doesn’t help then your next step is to do a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset. If the problem still occurs even after the reset then this could already be caused by a malfunctioning internal component in which case you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
Note 4 Soft Keys Not Working
Problem: Hi I Have a Samsung Note 4 and it has suddenly lost the soft keys at the bottom of the front panel. The android version is 4.4.4 and the model number is SMN910F. 2 days ago the soft keys were almost never present and now they rarely show. I have to restart my phone to exit applications. It isn’t just the LEDs, I press repeatedly at the right location but with no effect. Thank you.
Solution: This looks like a hardware related issue already. Try doing a factory reset ( make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset) then check if the soft keys work after the reset. If they don’t work then bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
