S6 Home Screen Interface Changed
Problem: Hello, thanks for your help. OK, here goes. I have a Galaxy S6. It is unlocked and I have a data Sim installed which I use when I travel. The Android version is 6.0.1. I used the phone as an alarm the other day and when I went to shut off the alarm,my phone was down to 2% battery strength. I thought that the phone would have shut down before this but it did not. So, I shut it off and charged it. When it restarted, there was a screen with two small icons at the bottom asking me to select one of them, (I’m sorry, I don’t remember them exactly because I was leaving for a flight) . So, I selected one of them and the phone started in a whole different layout. The homepage had only six icons as well as a large clock at the top and the weather, and 6 icons below. If I scroll to the left of the home screen, there are is a page with face icons with plus signs on them, I guess to add contacts. If I scroll to the right, I have more pages that I can add apps from the application menu, which I can still access. I can’t remove the clock and weather from the home page, and I can’t change the thumbnail size. There is no longer a favorites bar at the bottom of the page either , where I had the phone, messages icon etc. So, my question is… what have I done? Or is this some weird update? Oh by the way, on each page is an edit button at the top right, which allows me to remove the apps on each page, but not the clock or weather on the home page. Oh, and one more interesting thing, when I go into the apps pages, they’re all in alphabetical order, which is a Good thing. Couldn’t do that before except manually.. OK, thanks for the help..
Solution: If you are using the stock launcher of your phone then you might just have chosen to use the Touchwiz Home Easy mode option. This mode uses a much simpler home screen layout which is ideal for people who want use the phone straightforward. To return the setting back to the standard mode just go to Settings – Easy Mode – Make sure that the dot is placed on Standard mode.
S6 Keeps On Randomly Activating Recent Apps
Problem: I have a Samsung s6 and it is having an issue of going between recent apps and split screen all by itself. It’s just goes crazy back and forth making the phone virtual unusable. I have done a factory reset and the issue is still there. Your help would be greatly appreciated. I am beyond frustrated.
Solution: If you have already performed a factory reset and the issue still persists then the problem could be caused by an issue with the display assembly or the capacitive buttons. I recommend that you have this checked at a service center.
S6 Freezes Does Not Boot Up
Problem: i bought from an individual privately so i don’t know if it was like this before. its unlocked used it on metro for a few days, it started doing its own thing. now i can’t use it it just keeps looping. it won’t shut off it freezes. i did a factory reset from the recovery mode and it didn’t boot up from the activation screen, it just started like it had been set up already
Solution: Try connecting the phone to its charger while turning it on. If it turns on then you might just need to replace the battery of this device. If the phone does not boot up then this could already be a hardware related problem which needs to be checked at a service center.
S6 Won’t Boot
Problem: Hello. I have a Samsung S6 that won’t boot. I am not sure of the OS but it should be the latest available on AT&T. It just shut down in the middle of watching a video and now won’t boot. I can’t get it to go into recovery mode at all. When I try it show the “Installing Update” then goes to black screen. The power button doesn’t seem to work much either to power down the phone. The only thing I can seem to do is get it to the custom rom loading screen. Is there something I can do from there to get it working again?
Solution: What you can do right now is to try to connect the phone to its charger then check if you are able to access the recovery mode. If you are unable to access the recovery mode then this could probably be because the power button is not working. You will need to have this checked at a service center.
If however the power button is working but the phone refuses to go to recovery mode then the phone software might be corrupt. You should consider manually flashing the phone with its updated stock firmware file. Instructions on how to do this can be found at several of the popular Android forums online.
If you are unable to flash the phone software then I recommend that you bring this to a service center and have it checked.
S6 Custom Binary Blocked Error
Problem: Just bought it refurbished..Turned off my galaxy s6. Tried to turn it back on and the logo came up also red letters says custom binary blocked by from locked..Looked online. Seems to be a common problem..Tried various things but cannot reset it..Tried Odin and rebooting but nothing works..Tried to update firmware but my PC not detecting my phone. I need a tech to do it please help
Solution: This is the factory reset protection feature of the phone working right now. You will need the information to the last Google account that was logged in to this device to bypass this feature. You should contact the previous owner of this phone regarding this matter. If you are unable to obtain the Google account information then you should have this FRP protection feature bypassed at a service center.
