S6 Edge Unresponsive Not Turning On
Problem: Hi my daughters S6 Edge is totally unresponsive. On Wednesday there was an OTA update by Samsung (I don’t know if it was updating Marshmallow or installing Nougat). The Nougat update as far I can see is not scheduled until next week for Germany so I think it was the first. After the update she said the phone came on fine and she continued to use it for the rest of the day with no problems. In the evening she turned it off and plugged it into the charger, the charging light came on like normal A couple of hours later she noticed the light was out. She unplugged the phone and tried to turn it on but nothing happened. Since then I have had the phone. I have charged it myself. The charging light does not come on, it feels slightly warm not hot or anything like that when charging. I have tried booting into safemode. Even though it won’t turn on I also tried software reset, master reset but as it won’t turn on they didn’t work. I have made sure the charger is ok, used a different charger and also tried it via the USB port of my PC. I let the battery run out as far I could tell by not using it for 3 days and it felt cold to the touch. I then once again charged it and tried the above still same thing, no charging light or icon, very slightly warm at the back, no buttons working. The phone has not been dropped and no water damage. My daughter can’t find the receipt so Samsung won’t repair or replace it under warranty. Any help would be appreciated, thanks
Solution: There’s a possibility that the problem is already hardware related possibly caused by the factors listed below.
- The battery is faulty
- The power IC is defective
You should however try to check if other factors are involved in this problem by doing the following troubleshooting steps listed below.
- Do a simulated battery pull. To perform this procedure just simultaneously press and hold the power and volume down button for at least 10 seconds. Normally your phone will restart after this.
- Clean the charging port of your phone making sure that any dirt or debris stuck in the port is removed.
- Try charging the phone using a different charging cord and wall charger for at least 20 minutes.
- Check if the phone can start in recovery mode. If it can then try to do a factory reset. Take note that this will erase your phone data.
If the above steps fail to fix the problem then this could already be a hardware issue. You should have this checked at a service center.
S6 Edge Battery Temperature Too Low to Charge
Problem: Hi My phone fell into the toilet and i put it into rice.(i know that i also should have turned it off and have the battery removed) However, i have a galaxy s6 edge, which is the reason why i couldn’t remove it. For some reason i wasn’t able to turn it off either, so i just left it like it was in the rice. I took it out after maybe 12 hours or something and tried to charge it. At first everything was fine, it was a bit slow but ok, and at some point (maybe 30%) my phone decided that the battery is actually too cold to charge anymore. The vodafone shop i went to is closed and i’m really desperate. If anyone has any idea how to solve that i’d be very thankful. P.S. i’m not sure which Android Version i have
Solution: The problem is most likely caused by a water damaged battery or charging port assembly. You should however check if this is caused by a software glitch by backing up your phone data then doing a factory reset. If after the reset the issue still occurs then you should bring the phone to a service center and have it checked.
S6 Edge Shuts Down Not Powering On
Problem: Hi. My Samsung S6Edge model no.SM-G925W8 was shut down all of sudden. I tried a lot to power on this device, but didn’t work. I thought it could be Firmware crash so I redownloaded Firmware using ODIN 3. But doesn’t power on even ODIN is showing that device has been passed downloading new firmware. This phone is not going beyond Samsung S6 Edge welcome note with black background. Only one thing is working now i.e. power key+home key+volume down.
Solution: Is the phone able to access the recovery mode? If it is then try the two steps listed below.
- Wipe the cache partition of the phone then restart the device.
- Do a factory reset. Take note that this will erase your phone data.
If the above steps don’t work then try connecting the phone to its charger then check if it turns on. If it does then you may need to replace the phone battery.
If the above steps fail to fix the problem then you should bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
S6 Edge Does Not Turn ON
Problem: Hello – I have a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. I have always good care for it. I didn’t always use it. No any water damage. I didn’t drop it down. two days back I tried turning on my phone. But it didn’t turn on. The day before I had turned off at the stage of 86% of battery. Then I allow to charge it. But charging icons and LED indicator didn’t display on the screen. Please help! Thank you
Related Problem: I was using my phone the other night, the power was low so had it plugged in charging. The app i was using must’ve been using more power than charge given cos my phone switched off. I left it overnight as normal thinking it was charging however the next day it wouldn’t switch on. I have tried other charges and none are charging the phone, no indication that it is charging. I have tried the different various reboots and none work as nothing appears on the screen
Related Problem: After installing the latest update a few days ago, I woke up to find my phone off and unable to turn on no matter what I do. It won’t charge and trying to hold down both the power button and down volume button doesn’t reset the phone. At a loss as to what I can do to get it to work. Please help!!!
Solution: What you need to do first in this case is to make sure that the phone battery has sufficient charge. Follow the troubleshooting steps listed below to charge your phone.
- Clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air making sure that any dirt or debris gets removed.
- Charge your phone using a different charging cord and wall charger for at least 20 minutes.
If the phone still does not turn on then try performing a simulated battery pull. You do this by simultaneously pressing and holding down the power and volume down button for at least 10 seconds. Your phone should restart after this.
If the issue persists then you need to bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
S6 Edge Turns Off If Not Connected To Charger
Problem: I dropped my phone for literally 2 seconds down the loo. After retreating it and switching it off spending 3 days in rice My phone will now only work and be fully functional when I have it plugged into the mains. Every time I unplugged the mains it switches straight back off. Can you give me any advice! TIA Regards
Solution: There are two possible reasons why this is happening. It’s either the battery has been water damaged or the power IC got shorted. In both cases you will need to bring the phone to a service center and have the phone repaired.
