S5 Screen Not Turning On After Overnight Charge
Problem: Yesterday, I accidentally left my phone to charge overnight. When I woke up, I found the screen of my Samsung S5 blank and extremely hot. I began looking for solutions and found your website. I followed all the steps but to no avail. I went to the shop I bought the phone from and they told me it may be because of the the faulty motherboard or software and it costs $310 just to repair it. I tried charging my phone but the screen won’t light up however, it feels hot. Could you please help me? Thank you.
Solution: First, let me just say that a phone gets extremely hot after being left to charge is a dangerous situation since it can potentially cause a fire ( remember the Note 7 incidents?) Having said that, the usual cause of a phone getting hot is a short circuit. You could try getting a new battery first then check if this fixes the problem. If it doesn’t then try the following steps listed below.
- Clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris that could be present in the port is removed.
- Try charging your phone for at least 20 minutes using a different charging cord and wall charger.
- Try starting the phone in recovery mode then do the following: Wipe the cache partition of the phone then do a restart. If this fails then do a factory reset also in recovery mode. Take note that this will erase your phone data.
If the issue persists then you should consider having the phone repaired or just get a new phone.
S5 Screen Not turning On From Sleep
Problem: I have the same issue that it appears many of people have had. When I click the middle button sometimes yellow horizontal lines appear for a second then my screen comes on. Other times nothing comes on at all but the phone still works because it vibrates. I’ve tried safe mode, recovery mode, taking out sim card, battery, and clearing cache. Still having same issue. But also, when I warm my phone up, it works everytime. My screen can’t be damaged if it works sometimes? Help I still have a year on my contract!
Solution: Have you done a factory reset yet? If not try to do it. Make sure to backup your phone data before doing the reset. Once the reset is complete don’t install anything in your phone yet. Try to check first if the issue still occurs. If it does then this is most likely a hardware related issue already which can be best fixed at a service center.
S5 Stuck In Samsung Screen
Problem: So in recovery mode at the top it says LMY47X.G900AUCU4C0I5.Im not sure if I have the 4.4 or 5 right now.I rooted my phone with no problems and had no problems until I installed the lucky patch thinking it was for games and it made my phone start to turn on but not get past the samsung screen. It stays there for a few minutes then reboots and does that over and over. I’ve tried emptying the cache and doing the factory reset but still nothing. My phone was through at&t but they unlocked it and now I simply use it to get online at home.Plz help
Solution: It appear that your phone software has been bricked. If your phone has a microSD card then ty removing it. Remove the battery as well then press and hold the power button for at least a minute. Reinsert just the battery then turn on your phone. If the issue remains then the only way to fix this is to flash the update stock firmware file to your phone. You can download the stock firmware file of your phone from the Sammobile website. The instructions on how to go about flashing your device can also be found in this website.
S5 Charges Extremely Slow
Problem: Hello, so I followed all the directions with the troubleshooting problem. I put my phone into the safe mode, yet it still charges extremely slow, and the phone usually makes the charging noise a lot, because it turns the charge on and off. any suggestions on what else I might do? Buy a new phone?
Solution: If the phone still charges slow even in Safe Mode then try the following steps listed below.
- Clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris present in this port is removed.
- Charge the phone using a different charging cord and wall charger.
If the issue remains then try doing a factory reset. Make sure to backup your phone data before the reset is done. Once the reset is complete check the charging speed of your phone. If there is no improvement then you should try getting a new battery. If this still fails then bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
S5 Stuck In Samsung Logo
Problem: Hi there, I have been using you site for a few days to sort out a charging fault with my galaxy s5. Failing with a soft rest I decided to do a full factory reset. but now I can’t get the phone to boot up past the Samsung logo flashing, it just seems to crash and if left gets very hot. I can still boot up recovery mode so I know the motherboard hasn’t fried can you give me any more advice? Thanks
Solution: Listed below are the recommended troubleshooting steps that needs to be done for this particular issue.
- Remove the battery and microSD card ( if one is installed) of the phone. Press and hold the power button for at least a minute then reinsert just the battery. Turn on the phone.
- Check if the phone turns on successfully with a charger connected to it. If it does then you might need to replace the battery.
- Start the phone in recovery mode then do a factory reset. Take note that this will erase your phone data.
If the above steps don’t work then you should consider manually flashing your phone with its updated firmware file. Instructions on how to flash your phone can be found at several of the popular Android forums online.
S5 Enters A Bootloop
Problem: Okay, now the problem is that my mobile phone enters a bootloop. It restarts and when the lock screen appears, everything freezes. And then the phone restarts over again. I’ve tried many solution:- 1) Clearing cache partition 2) Factory data reset 3) Trying SAFE MODE 4) Reinstalling a different firmware from ODIN. 5) Changing the battery I have no SD Card. When i did a factory reset. My phone works for loke about only a day perfectly and then it enters a bootloop. While restarting, i sometimes finally starts properly. But after a little use it again enters a bootloop. The power button looks just fine too. I’m afraid I’m gonna lose my money. I really need an expert solution. Plz.
Solution: This appears to be a hardware related problem already possibly caused by a faulty internal component. I recommend that you bring your phone to a service center and have it checked.
S5 Battery Charges Slow Drains Fast
Problem: I purchased my phone in April 2016. It was brand new. So I thought. I started having issues of charging in September. I’ve had two or three OS updates since I’ve had the phone but can’t remember if I got one between April and September. I went back to them to let them know, but they said its happens because it’s a computer and all electronics do that. I told the person this is my 4th galaxy and my 10th touchscreen phone I never had that issue. They told me it’s nothing they can do because it was past 30 days and to contact Samsung. I did, and found out the phone was not brand new as I was assured, and it had been activate in February 2015 and the warranty expired in February 2016. So I took it to my local cellphone store and he said its the battery and charger. I bought both, $25 for the battery $35 for the USB cord. It was OK, but practically I kept having the issue. I’ve now bought 4 batteries and 7 chargers. From December till now it will be OK for a few weeks and back to issues. Last week I woke up it was on 21% I plugged it in, it charged real slow. I changed the battery and cords, and it started to charge, but if I use the phone if even texting it drains. If I turn it off to charge it will take 2–3 hours to get to 100%. Also it gets now so hot that I have to put it near the window to cool. I don’t know what to do. I paid $450 for the phone I had not even a year yet. Can you help? Id appreciate any.
Solution: For this issue I recommend that you backup your phone data then do a factory reset. Once the reset is complete don’t install anything in your phone yet. Clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air then check if the issue still occurs. If it does then this could be caused by some component inside your phone that’s failing to work. I recommend that you have this checked at a service center.
