S5 Freezes Then Gets Stuck On Samsung Screen
Problem: Hi there. My phone randomly froze today whilst using google maps. then when i powered it off it wouldnt turn back on, it gets stuck on samsung display screen or it goes fuzzy like an old television with no reception. i have cleared the cache partition and also done the factory reset. it is still doing the same thing. the phone has not been dropped, not has it had any water damage. your help will be much appreciated.
Solution: If a factory reset fails to fix the problem then this could be caused by a faulty hardware component. Some possible suspects are listed below.
- Check if the battery is causing this problem by checking if the issue occurs when the phone is connected to its charger. If it doesn’t then you should consider replacing the battery.
- If your phone has a microSD card installed then try removing it as this.
If the above steps fail to fix the problem then you should consider flashing your phone with its updated stock firmware file. Instructions on how to flash your phone can be found at several of the major Android websites such as Sammobile.
If after flashing the phone software the issue remains then I suggest that you bring this to a service center and have it checked.
S5 Glitching And Not Charging
Problem: My husband’s Galaxy S5 recently has been glitching and will not accept a charge anymore. It started with the phone flashing between charging, turning off, then back off, repeatedly. We know the cable is not at fault (works with other phone), so we bought a replacement battery thinking maybe his current one was maybe just old and would not take a charge. With the new battery, which came with a 40% charge, I was able to turn the phone on and delete some of his apps that I feel maybe were contributing to the issue (battery manager/ cleaning apps of the sort). But upon turning the phone back off the charge, it actually began to drain instead. Our next thought it to replace the charging port, but I’m unsure if doing so will fix our problem. What signs will tell you software/firmware is the actual issue versus the charging port. Note: I also attempted to carefully clean the port with a pin, and got a bunch of lint out, but it did not seem to help. Also, I am unsure of the android version, and the phone is currently close to dead and we’re saving it for emergencies. Thanks
Solution: Whenever a phone experiences erratic charging then the usual suspects are the charging cord, wall charger, charging port, and the battery. It’s very unlikely that the software is causing the problem. Since you have already eliminated the battery and charging cord as possible suspects the next step is to try to use a different wall charger. If this still fails to fix the problem then you should proceed replacing the charging port of the phone.
S5 Stopped Charging
Problem: My s5 is not charging at all. It stopped charging while I was playing WordTrek, and failed to charge after that. My battery was low when the problem started, and now the battery is dead, with no way to charge it. I tried multiple chargers on it, none of them seemed to charge my phone. I cannot even boot up my phone to the S5 logo. Any way for you to help???
Solution: The following troubleshooting steps listed below are to be performed in cases where the phone does not charge. After performing one step immediately check if the issue still occurs then move to the next step if it does.
- Clean the charging port of your phone using a can of compressed air. Make sure that any dirt or debris that might be present in the port is removed.
- Try using a different charging cord as the one you are using might be damaged.
- Check if your phone charges from a computer USB port. If it does then one of the pins of the phone charging port could be damaged. Have this checked at a service center.
- Try using a different wall charger.
- Replace the battery with a new one.
If the above steps fail to fix the problem then it’s possible that the issue is caused by a faulty power or charging IC. I recommend that you have this checked at a service center.
S5 Turns On But Screen Is Black
Problem: My phone will turn on but the screen will be black. My smart watch will tell me when I get messages and calls. I can not unlock the phone from memory due to the screen being unresponsive. I believe the cause of this is because I fell on it while skiing and that cracked the screen.
Solution: Try starting the phone in recovery mode. If the screen works in this mode then a software glitch might be causing the problem. You will have to perform a factory reset from here. Take note that this will erase your phone data. If the screen does not work even in recovery mode then it is possible that the phone display is damaged already. I recommend that you have this checked at a service center. It’s very likely that you will have to get the whole display assembly replaced.
S5 Not Charging Showing Yellow Triangle With Exclamation Mark
Problem: Hi there. I’ve been having a lot of trouble with my Samsung galaxy S5. The phone isn’t charging and is showing the yellow triangle with an exclamation mark in the middle. This isn’t new, it has been like this for a month now. My new issue is that it boots when I hold down the volume up, power, home keys. It then tells me that “Android is starting” it doesn’t complete the starting then it dies. Please let me know what options I have.
Solution: Unfortunately in this case it looks like this is already a hardware related issue. You should try replacing the battery with a new one first then check if the issue still occurs. If it does then the charger port of your phone might need to be replaced. You should bring this phone to a service center and have it checked.
S5 Makes Low Battery Sound
Problem: Hi there, I have had a good look through the site but perhaps my issue is not very common. My phone always makes the sound as if it is flat even when it is at full power. The main problem with this is that it will reset the app that I am in, so it would wipe a viber message or I would miss out seeing a snapchat etc etc. Strangely enough I have only needed to write the message once. I have tried a soft reset to no avail. Thanks
Solution: For this particular issue you will need to try a factory reset as this could be caused by a glitch in the phone software. Before doing the reset make sure to backup your phone data.
S5 Stuck In Samsung Logo After Software Update
Problem: Hi I have an s5 mini and I did a software update last night and ever since it stayed on samsung it didn’t move from that part I removed the battery countless of times and nothing worked I even removed the battery for the whole night it switches on but doesn’t move past the samsung part
Solution: Try removing the microSD card ( if the phone has one installed) and battery of the phone. Press and hold the power button for at least a minute then reinsert just the battery. Check if the phone turns on. If it doesn’t then you should try to check if you are able to access the recovery mode. From here do the following.
- Wipe the cache partition of your phone. Restart the phone after this.
- Do a factory reset. Take note that this will delete your phone data.
